Watching the Warriors this season has been fun-for the most part, however it doesn't really feel like we are 7-6. There have been too many baffling coaching decisions, blowout losses, injuries, and a lack of offensive fluidity to really be that happy (reasonably happy).
I personally believe the Warriors ,when healthy, are a playoff team. We are cursed so it appears we shant ever see a fully healthy Warriors team, but even with 2 or 3 people missing, this team shouldn't be too bad. But, we are really bad when one of our top players is out.
Last year our team's offense ranked 14th in the league, even with the injuries and ball hog Monta... this year we are healthier, have a second year Steph Curry, and an excellent Monta, yet we're ranked just 17th? Last years team was pretty fun to watch (at least imo) for the last 2 months. We seemed to have really nice offensive cohesion. This year, subtract Nellie, add Smart, and a bunch of talent, and we don't even have a plan on offense really. Too many post ups for Biedrins and Lee, not enough pick and rolls, and not enough running. I haven't seen us use too many isolations this year, and while i'm generally opposed to the Iso, it can be a nice option when it's necessary to take advantage of a mismatch. For example last night, Fisher was guarding Wright a few times. Not once did we post him up on Fisher? I'm sure Smart is concerned by this as well, but when does the honeymoon period for him end with the media, and he gets blame.
I can say I'm thrilled to have Monta playing the way he is. What's happened to our free flowing offense? It seemed pretty effective. I would hope at least this team could stick to it's strength which is scoring the ball, but so far the results aren't good. I'm sure we get better, but this isn't the most encouraging trend to see. I hope it's all SSS, but you can never be sure.
