Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
Keith Smart
On Today's Game:
"It played out how I thought it would be. I knew that they had some guys that were pros who would be ready for it tonight and of course Richard Hamilton did that tonight. He is a guy that’s been around and he did it last time we were here as well. What we need to do for our team is learn how to win these games on the road. We had a spell where we had too many turnovers, careless turnovers, at one time. We just need to clean that part up."
On Curry's Final Shot:
"You are always looking at that as a dicey call. If he shoots it and he makes it then it is the right decision. That is one of our better players that took a big shot that he can make and he took a chance. We can live with that because if he had that shot again he would probably make it, so we are good with that one."
David Lee
On Today's Game:
"We need to start to establish that identity on the road. We haven’t had much time on the road yet, this is only our second one and the first one wasn’t close. So we need to find a way and we just had too many careless mistakes. It seems like each guy out on the floor tonight made one careless mistake or so that led to an easy bucket by them or led to a missed opportunity for us."
On Curry's Final Shot:
"I was kind of running behind of him when that went up and it was right on line, so I thought it was in, but it rimmed in-and-out. But I will take that shot from a great shooter any day of the week to tie it up. I thought it was down."
On Getting Balance On Offense:
"That will come with the passing game. Luckily we are struggling a little bit with our offense game, myself included, but we are still 4-2 right now. It would be real easy to struggle like this and be behind the eight ball, but instead we are way ahead of the game. We need to forget this one and go into Toronto and get a victory."

Honestly
We played terrible all game, in fact we haven’t really played well since Memphis. Kinda of amazing we were in it until the end.
That said, this game need more Gadz and less Vlad. Let’s bring it to TOR tomorrow!
The San Francisco 49ers, inventing new ways to lose every week!
Also, more Biedrins. He only played 25 min.’s. What was with that? (I missed the game).
The Golden Glow is the only way to reach the upper level.
Oh, they needed to get Vlad his minutes. God
I believe that ghosts are like dogs. They just do things arbitrarily.

I know seriously.
Maybe Smart is just giving his guys a chance to see what they’ve got. But Vladdy, you suck. I know it, you know, ALL OR SERBIA knows it.
Can we just give all his minutes to Wright and Carney now? And I’m not even impressed with Carney either. Dude cannot finish for all his talent. Hopefully he gets better at that as the season goes, or maybe we’re going to have to find another 3pt specialist. Hmm…Morrow would’ve been useful.
"I thought it was going in," Warriors center Chris Hunter said. "It looked like the invisible man tipped it away at the last second."
So Biedrins got subbed out when he got his second foul in first quarter (at 2:30 left). The main thing is Vlad played well when he came in for extended minutes and Smart didn’t put Biedrins back on the court. Biedrins did get 16 or so minutes in the second half though, which is about what he should get each half.
i think smart was resting beans
he’ll need his legs facing bargnani tomorrow
by KKE on Nov 7, 2010 6:57 PM PST up reply actions
Yeah at first I thought it was alright that coach took him him when he had 2 fouls
But not putting himback in for longer minutes, he could have had about 16+ rebounds possibly. He better get close to 40 minutes tomorrow assuming he doesn’t get in foul trouble

When I list the players
it’s supposed to be your “Warrior Wonder” pick of the night. If I make crazy options, the loss was so crappy, nobody on the team deserves a mention, and you were better off going for a root canal than watching that kind of loss.
i voted for vladNOTrad because he was -12
are we here and GSOM the only ones who see his utter SHITTYNESS?? wtf!
i just loved that inbounding pass to the other team tonight too.. i think gadz would have
been useful tonight.. and where is adrien??? i think this game was poorly coached..
ellis and curry 0 for 8 from beyond the arc..

bell's being hard on himself
he really did have a horrible game though
by KKE on Nov 7, 2010 6:59 PM PST up reply actions
Yeah, the most obvious was the 2 badly missed 3s
I think he had 1 good hustle play (I think it was him), but I guess he must have sucked everywhere else.
He also missed 2 FTs right before he airballed that corner 3. I’m sure Smart wanted to let Monta sit out until halftime, but he had to put him back in with a minute left to go in the first half.
Yeah
Someone mentioned to me that Detroit is Bell’s “hometown area”. He’s actually from Flint, which is 1 hr north of Detroit, so he could be feeling the effects of playing in front of his friends and family.
He just sucks...
anywhere he plays. He can play some good D, but his shooting ave has always sucked throughout his career. Smart should only let him play if he agrees not to shoot any 3’s.
Observations based on statistics-
*14 turnovers. About 50% of them were very, very careless and costly.
*42% shooting overall. Settling for quick/bad shots, not enough ball movement often leads to poor shooting.
*19-23 FT. Warriors will need to start hitting their free throws on a consistent basis.
*David Lee 11points and 7 rebounds in 35 minutes. enters a disappointed GIF
*6-21 3pt shooting overall. another one
Observations based on watching the game-
*Curry looks like that ankle is still somewhat bothering him, plus he was in foul trouble all night.
*Vladamir’s heroics first half and bone head mistakes 2nd half. I’m disappointed,as usual.
*David Lee needs to be more aggressive on the offensive end.
*Basically they played good defense for a portion of the game but slipped when it counted the most.
*Detroit’s rims are so biased, that Curry 3 should of went in,but then I’m biased as well.
Overall,Warriors didn’t play too horribly. I am looking forward to them exploiting their flaws and using them to their advantage.

yeah Lee needs to get himself more looks on the offensive end, we all know he can score

Game was ok
Considering we were brickfest through a lot of it. I really thought that last Curry shot went down. In the end we probably didn’t deserve to win, but good effort.
I've been saying that this road trip will define us
And we’ll see how it ends
"I tell him straight, 'If you're going to lead, you have to be the first to practice. You have to come in, get your work down and be prepared for practice,' " assistant coach Keith Smart said. "He needs to figure out why he is having stomach problems and he's got to watch how LeBron (James), Kobe (Bryant) and D-Wade (Dwyane Wade) work. He needs to mimic that if he wants his teammates to speak volumes about him." -Keith Smart on Motna Ellis
Reggie Williams
I’m getting really tired of watching this guy attempt to play backup point. Maybe it’s the role that Smart is putting him that is making him appear so flawed, but something needs to be done about it.

Probably for the F-bomb and/or the sloppy writing. Family show!
Here’s the comment with proper capitalization and punctuation, all the typos cleaned up, and the curse word redacted:
Too many careless turnovers, especially the ones by Rad and Reggie. And to be honest, what is Smart doing with Radman? He [messed] us up on a few occasions already; why give him so many minutes? Just imagine the harm he would do during the whole year. Also, Smart said he made a mistake by putting Reggie at the point, but that’s what he did again when Curry went to the bench. I really don’t get it.

See how nice and grown-up sounding your writing can be with just a little bit more care?
There will be no extra point!
+1

see how much better it is to keep the discussion intact instead of deleting everything within 10 feet of the offending word. You guys need an easy way to eliminate the 7 illegal words and just leave blanks where they were like the radio stations do to adult content.

Despite our subpar performance, we had a chance, Coach Smart Nellied us out of this one.
He waited way, way, way too long to get Lee, Biedrins, and DWright back in the game. We needed stops and extra possessions, seemed Coach Smart wanted to outscore them to the finish. Didn’t happen.
This lineup should only be used for 4th quarters in cases of injury, foul trouble, or big leads.
Steph, Monta, Reggie, Rodney, and Vladi……. reallly……..
Not holding it against Coach Smart. He saw Detroit go small, channeling his inner Nellie, he thought to himself, “You wanna go small against the Warriors?!?!”
Unfortunately (in this case) we are a different team now, Lee and Dre were wiping the glass clean. He must recognize that. I believe he will
If we win tomorrow, then wednesday, we’ll go 3-2, all good
He waited way, way, way too long to get Lee, Biedrins, and DWright back in the game.
maybe he was fascinated with the Raiders game and had to wait for it to end before getting back to work?

It's not based on the Detroit game.
I hardly saw any of it. This is based off what I’ve seen of him in mostly wins.

Rebounds are nice...
but Reggie Evans and Shelden Williams can get rebounds.
The Lakers have a bigger chance of missing the playoffs than the Warriors have of making them.
Offensively .. yes; Rebounding ... no
Lee’s rebounding has been solid & his individual D has not been good which is what we should’ve expected. However, his offense is not what I’ve expected.
Lee’s offensive game hasn’t been impressive at all. Seems to have confidence in his perimeter shot but I’m not seeing them fall in. Guess he’s nailing them in practice or perhaps that was his shot when he was w/ the Knicks.
What I really don't like...
is that he doesn’t seem like a strong player in the paint when there are bodies around him. I figured he’d a least be a good finisher.
The Lakers have a bigger chance of missing the playoffs than the Warriors have of making them.
Take away the 3 or 4 times we turned the ball over to Detroit underneath their basket (momentum killers), slightly better shooting from Curry and a few others, and we win this game.
With that said, it would be nice to see more B Wright, Lin, and Adrien, and less Radmanovic and Bell. I’m guessing Coach Smart goes off of what he sees in practice and I imagine the vets shoot fine in practice and go cold during the games.

by Warriors_fan_in_so-cal on Nov 8, 2010 12:00 AM PST reply actions
Vlad gets so much floor time
Seems to me that Vlad is going to be a consistent 10-15+ minute guy on this team & I’m not seeing why. Beans @25 minutes when he’s never been in foul trouble is also confusing.
===
Curry has to be smarter on his fouls. His fourth foul was silly & forced Smart to pull him out of the game. Guess it’s part of the growing pains for young players. Before his 4th foul, the Warriors really seemed to be on a roll in the 3rd quarter.
Hmmm
We have been hovering around 40% FG or lower since the LAL game. We are 2-2 since, not really too bad. However, in the games we won, we killed our opponent in the rebounding differential.
In Detroit, we had some real lazy turnovers, and the offense reverted back to Nellie ball. Carney with a contested 3 with 20+ seconds on the clock. Reggie grabbing the board with 14 seconds left on the clock and takes a quick shot instead of dribbling it out for the last shot. How many times did we simply settle for the jumper? We also went with the 3 Guard lineup. We still couldn’t buy a bucket and basically lost any chance for 2nd chance points which is what won our games against Utah and Memphis.
You can’t screw around on road games, and I just don’t agree with everyone saying that simply by not playing Radman we would have won. Our offense has not looked good since the Clippers game. Our defense for sure this season is better, but they laid an egg when it counted most. Whenever we clawed back close to the Pistons, the team (not just Vladdy) let them draw out the lead again.
First thing is first, we need to get our offense back in order. Lee and Beans need to be a bigger part of the offense rather than just dunks and tip-ins. Sure, part of it is Lee can’t buy a jumper, but our offense can’t just rely on Curry, Monta, and Dorell draining jumpers all night.
The San Francisco 49ers, inventing new ways to lose every week!
An analysis of the game by Adam Lauridsen

Brings up some good points.
The San Francisco 49ers, inventing new ways to lose every week!
Good points indeed.
Smart definitely let the Pistons dictate his substitutions. I’m not sure if Lin is good enough for 5-10 minutes a game but Monta can’t be the primary scorer & PG @ the same time. If Curry is in foul trouble or hurt, then Lin should get at least a minute or two when Bell comes in stinking up the joint like Sunday night.
===
Good point also on trying to match Detroit’s small ball. Smart out-smarted himself by leaving Beans on the bench for so long. Just felt that Beans+Lee for the 4th quarter would’ve led to a rebounding edge to help overcome lots of the Warrior’s mistakes.
I noticed a real lack of the quick passing and offensive flow we had in our earlier games.
I think, honestly, that Curry is the difference. Everything was flowing great in the third quarter until he picked up his 4th foul, then things got really gummy.
His 4th foul was really really dumb, too.
Plus Monta was definitely forcing it, some. There was one long turnaround jumpshot, early in the shot clock, where bleh, seriously, Monta? What were you thinking. I think without Curry out there he has a tendency to revert to being “the man” a bit more, which isn’t good for us even when he’s scoring well.
So hopefully Curry will learn to control those fouls. We really really need him. But I’d like to see the team settle down a bit more and work the two-man game when things get tight.
No criticisms for Keith? He was a joke last night.
by GovernorStephCurry on Nov 8, 2010 1:44 PM PST up reply actions
Well, not running the two-man game IS a criticism of Keith -
- he should be calling it, making the guys settle down when thinks are getting a little helter skelter.
