Are there any good SF's on the trade block?

Starter or backup. Philly might force a team to take Brand with him and it's unknown if Josh Smith is on the block or what they want. Does anyone have any other ideas? We need a more steady player than Wright who is shooting under 40%. Is Gerald Wallace on the block? Any backups?

He's not on the block

Why would they trade him?

Unless we mortgage our future to rent Melo for 3/4 of a season. Sure, we can have Melo…just not beyond this year. All or nothing approach. At least it’ll save the W’s money by dumping salaries to get him. I’m not saying do it, I’m just saying it could be done. Melo has no control over this type of situation since signing the extension isn’t factored.

If we do Monta + Biedrins for Melo, JR, and Andersen, i'd do it.

IF there is no extension.

That way we get really far under the cap.

I agree but that wasn't the question you asked

the question was “Are there any good SF’s on the trade block?”

by Babyface Assassin on Dec 15, 2010 4:33 PM PST up reply actions

I don't see it as an issue with most of our current players

For SF, we have D Wright, R William as the backup SF, Carney and Radman as the third unit SF. I am not really up for trading our life away to get a good/star SF.

Also, our PF & C position are getting pretty solid too. What I see is perhaps getting a SG or combo G, like Mayo. So we have Curry/Monta PG, Monta/Mayo SG, Lin as the third PG/SG.

by ILoveWarriorsGirls on Dec 15, 2010 3:39 PM PST reply actions

You want Lin on the roster over Law? Huh?

If Reggie was the 3rd guard and we had better deph at SF we’d be much more solid. How much would Mayo cost us? A 1st?

Well, Mayo is $4.5mil. I always like to have a proven NBA player in the team then a pick. Anything after #1 pick is 50-50 chance. Look at the past 2 year’s #2 pick, they are not doing well at all. So far this year’s draft, 2~10 are not that exciting, and we don’t know how “bad” Udoh will do yet so far….

James Posey for Gazduric?

Get a veteran defender?

Josh Smith

Would be so sexy, But I would like Iguodala at SG.

by Anonymous1337 on Dec 15, 2010 4:13 PM PST reply actions

JSmoov is awesome

But damn, what to do with Lee? Smith’s still more a PF than SF

by tafkasam on Dec 15, 2010 5:22 PM PST up reply actions

Not really

Smoov while he’s a good passer and has a new found 3point shot is a PF. Similar to Odom, though Odom has better handles and has made himself more comfortable at the 3

And I don’t see how Curry makes a difference

by tafkasam on Dec 15, 2010 5:51 PM PST up reply actions

edit:

I don’t see how Monta makes a difference. JSmoov’s been playing with a more ball dominant 2guard in JoJo. One who really has not been anywhere near his best for 2 or 3 years..

by tafkasam on Dec 15, 2010 5:58 PM PST up reply actions

Why don't Monta and Smith work?

That makes no sense , Joe is way more ball dominant than Monta

Gerald Wallace would be amazing

BUT Charlotte wouldn’t really consider trading him unless they are FAR FAR out of playoff hunt and want to completely re-haul (not a bad idea)/

Even then, do we have young talent to be attractive to them? Udoh, Wright and Vlad rad? Then trade Biedrins to Phoenix for Frye and R.Lopez?

Curry, Monta, GWall, Lee, Frye with Reggie, Dorell, Acie, Lou and Lopez off the bench? From an aesthetic POV I love that team.

by tafkasam on Dec 15, 2010 5:21 PM PST reply actions

I like Frye

While he has his flaws, he does a lot that opens up the offense ( hitting 3s at a very efficient rate, and opening the lanes for players to drive).

Actually DLee would benefit the most, as he’d get ball in high post of elbow with only 1 big man on him. That one big man in almost every situation will not be able to guard him 1 on 1 cause of his quickness.

More so, with Gerald Wallace and DLee the rebounding shouldn’t be a big deal.

by tafkasam on Dec 15, 2010 5:54 PM PST up reply actions

You would want to see Channing Frye + David Lee defensively in the same starting frontcourt? That’s a disaster.

by GovernorStephCurry on Dec 15, 2010 7:11 PM PST up reply actions

Lol, no

Didn’t say that. I readily admit it’s flawed. But I do like frye on offense and way Phoenix plays with him. Personal preference but it’s very efficient offensive basketball…

by tafkasam on Dec 15, 2010 7:55 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, it's efficient offensive basketball.

But where’s the rebounding or defense? That’s the sort of gimmick ball we were using with d leaguers.

You call worst defense in the league and bottom 5 rebounding working fine?

Gerald Wallace would change this franchise for the next 5 years. He’d ensure we’d be out of the lottery every year he’s here. The most underated player in the league imo.

I can get behind that

definitely up there. Him and Manu Ginobili, although he is getting a lot of attention this year.

I'll sell this vacant lot and settle down in a place I've only read about in books about Miles Davis.

i dont think

we need to make any blockbuster trade… a solid pickup like tayshaun prince would be nice, we saw what he could do when he played with a true point in billups

that was like, 15 years ago!

Ok, not really, hard to believe that it was only a couple of years ago.
But Prince is not looking so good these days

We have raw, young talent but they need to be balanced out by a hard ass who won’t accept lackluster ball.

Is there any SF player with good leaping ability?

Even a rookie or d-leaguer. Someone who has the speed and has the leaping ability like Monta, Shannon Brown or Howard. That will be a good backup SF.

by ILoveWarriorsGirls on Dec 15, 2010 6:28 PM PST reply actions

i wouldnt mind signing Danny Green

i think the cavs let him go, hes young, long (no homo), has a nice jumper, and good upside

by mekanikal on Dec 15, 2010 7:25 PM PST reply actions

LOL, why did you need to say no homo?

I would have never thought of it that way, thanks mekanikal.

by GovernorStephCurry on Dec 15, 2010 9:33 PM PST up reply actions

I think Dorell is the SF we been needing.

And deserves to be the starter all year.

I can be patient with Rodney Carney as the backup SF. Sounds like he has been working hard on his game and practicing hard in attacking the basket more instead of settling for outside shots. This is what he said during an interview with Barnett which I will believe until I hear criticizm on his work ethics.

I believe in “hard work ALWAYS pays off”, so if Carney continues to do this in practice he’ll get more PT and hopefully give us production off the bench. I’m riding high on him to break out sometime this season.

For the people that are complaining about Keith Smart (also wanting him fired NOW) not granting Udoh minutes, I could only suspect that the reason being is he just got back from injury where Smart will bring him in slowly if Udoh shows something significant of an impact in practice.

I too would like to see Udoh get more minutes and see what we have in this rookie. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time when we will be able to witness this. I still believe in Keith Smart so i’ll remain patient.

With all my blabberings being said, I really don’t feel like our problem is with the SF position. I like Reggie Dubz at the 2 more, but I don’t mind him playing some backup SF either.

I think one of our key issues is our bench. If we can solidify that we can be a threat, not elite or dominant, but a threat.

Once Curry gets back, I really hope Reggie can contribute his play consistently off the bench, Acie Law becomes solid at 1 or 2 off the bench, have Lou concentrate on his strengths of strictly playing defense and grabbing boards (for now), and see if Udoh can be a dominating shotblocker.

Either way. Go Warriors still.

Gallinari

Is the closest thing to Dirk right now.

He’s also developing a drive, serious potential for him.
