Keith Smart
On David Lee:
"Now with David (Lee) the strength is coming back in his arm and not only that his confidence has come back to where he’s open and he takes the shot. There’s not a lot of hesitation, that he thinks and hopes that it’s going to go in I think now he’s at the spot where he played last year."

On The Team's Confidence:
"One you have a group that can play unselfish basketball and move it, and now when a guy is making shots they feel more confident to move it to him for that shot. Your pick and roll game comes back to life again, everything else just starts to happen for you just because of what he (David Lee) can do for you. Now Monta (Ellis) and Steph (Stephen Curry) they don’t have to be the sole dominant guy off the pick and roll, they can use the pick and roll for the way it was meant to be. Then you have guys like Dorell Wright or a (Vladmir) Radmanovic who’s just playing excellent basketball right now to where he can make plays off the dribble or make a shot or move it someone else."
David Lee
On the team coming together:
"After that win we had in Sacramento I felt that we had a good team win with a good comeback. I felt that we hit a turning point with getting Steph (Curry) back, were close to being healthy, all we need is to get Andris (Biedrins) back which he should be back soon. When this team is healthy we have a lot of weapons. We got a chance to go on the road and win a couple of games. Then we have a big homestand here in January and February where we can win a lot of games."

On Monta Ellis:
"He was hurting a little today with good reason, he’s been logging a lot of minutes and been carrying a big load for us. So tonight I tried to be more aggressive offensively."
Dorell Wright
On his game:
"I have to be a little more aggressive. When I start making a few shots guys start going for my head fakes so I just got to start utilizing that. It’s an ability I have to get to the basket and have to start doing it more."

On the team coming together:
"Since training camp we haven’t had all 15 guys. Guys are still coming back slowly but surely. When we get our whole team back I think we will be tough."

Off topic

but did you hear? The Bobcats want to reform the 2007 We Believe team!

Last week rumors said they’re trying to get Boom Dizzle from the Clips.
Now rumors say Orlando might go Diaw for JRich.

Damn.

by Reverend_Randy on Dec 27, 2010 11:48 PM PST up reply actions

sounds reasonable

this is a dumb move for Orlando. Lose an explosive 2 like JRich for a 4 when they already have Anderson and Bass

Yeah

the thinking was that they wanted another big, but they want a center, not a combo-forward.

Loved DWright in this game

very productive offensive night… but DLee is the man. Without his rebounds, we would have given up 3248923412839 third chance points or something.

Curry with 19 assists in his last 2 games

I think with Lee’s jumpers falling that number will remain sexy.

Was at the game. All I have to say is, as presently constituted, I have no idea why the Sixers are not the worst team in the NBA. Wow, they have nobody besides Holiday and flashes from Brand.

Iguodala better come back soon. Williams too, if he is still on that team.

by belilaugh on Dec 28, 2010 2:35 AM PST reply actions

They play good defense...

and are good on the break (maybe not without Iggy and Lou). The problem they had tonight was turnovers (who doesn’t against the Warriors) and giving up three-point shots (what could they do about a team who shot 15-23 from behind the arc?). They were also on their second game of a road back-to-back while missing two of their top players (Lou their sixth man, Iggy their most dynamic player). They aren’t a good team, but also not a terrible one. You must also remember that the Warriors played great in almost every facet of the game other than defensive rebounding and were at home.

True, we shot great from 3, but win or lose, there just seems to be a lack of talent on that team.

Although, they played Speights for some garbage time minutes at the end. I thought he was good? Does anyone know the reason why he is playing less than Jason Smith?

by belilaugh on Dec 28, 2010 3:25 AM PST up reply actions

He's not been playing well...

or even much at all because Collins actually likes Hawes a lot at C and doesn’t mind playing Brand there when he brings in Young. What was really odd last night was the fact that Brackins (just his second game) played more minutes than Speights. I’m starting to get the feeling that Collins isn’t all that impressed by Speights, since he’s almost completely fallen out of the rotation.

Monta.

by Brownie13 on Dec 28, 2010 1:40 PM PST up reply actions

I noticed on the Sixers blog

that they were calling Speights out as a jump-shooting big man.
And unless you are really good at that, i can see how that would wear out yer welcome on the court

but I’m with you belilaigh, I thought Speights was good too

Keep it rolling.

Win 2 or 3 of the next 5 and we’ll have a comfy schedule for a while. Still not looking for a playoff birth, but I do expect a winning record in January.

Can we give Warrior Wonder to Kieth Smart?

This was the best ball I’ve see nthe Warriors play in the Smart era. Despite giving up the lead in the 3rd, the Warriors was in total control. You never felt the game get out of hand. The ball movement was beautiful (and first time I’ve been truly happy with the offense), the defense was good.

Yeah the competition wasn’t high, but I’ll give credit where credit’s due. I’ve been critical of Smart, but it seems the system is finally starting to click.

31 team assists. Great stuff. At times I felt like I was watching the Webber Kings with great ball movement, and the quick Monta to DLee to Dorell kick out

by tafkasam on Dec 28, 2010 7:27 AM PST reply actions

I was having similar thoughts about Smart last night. Seemed like the team was clicking well.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is Monta Ellis when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

by Naticus on Dec 28, 2010 8:36 AM PST up reply actions

Yeah, we've been awfully hard on him early

And rightfully so at times. Eitherway it takes time to install a new system, and injuries don’t help. So let’s see what continues to come.
I personally like the fact we don’t have a pure PG system as none of our players are pure PGs. But when it doesn’t work it’s mighty frustrating…

by tafkasam on Dec 28, 2010 8:49 AM PST up reply actions

I'll give him props, he coached much better than usual

I still don’t like that he starts Amundson, we play so bad with that lineup, but overall a much better rotation.

seems like coaches are a bit more conservative than us

….because I definately would have given Udoh one of these starts.
But playing VladRad has turned out to be a somewhat forgiveable offense

I think maybe Smart likes to reserve a little offensive and (now with Udoh) defensive firepower to bring in off the bench

Yeah, and that’s because we’re not the ones that have to face the consequences with the player, in this case Udoh, if we put them into a situation that’s tough and overwhelming for them. No consequences to face = no fear of trying anything. Having consequences to face = making decisions more carefully and more conservatively.
