Warrior Wonder Standings (October/November)

Golden State finished the first two months of the season at 8-10, which seemed to exceed expectations and disappoint at the same time.  For a team coming off of a 26 win season, hanging around .500 when key addition David Lee missed 8 games is a very positive development.  On the other hand, the Warriors were dealt a soft early season schedule and still are on the outside looking in at the Western Conference playoff race.

Star-divide

October/November Standings

Monta Ellis 4

Dorell Wright  3

David Lee  3

Andris Biedrins 2

Stephen Curry 1

Dan Gadzuric 1

Madison Bumgarner  1

Right from Opening Night, Monta Ellis made the case to Warriors fans that this was his team.  Monta exploded for 46 points on 18-24 shooting in the Warriors win.  Ellis continued his great play from there, keeping his scoring average in the mid-20's while improving his accuracy from the floor as compared to last year.  With David Lee's injury and continued defensive lapses, the Warriors owe their competitiveness thus far to Ellis.

Warrior Wonder

In the game recaps here at GSoM we usually hand out a Warrior Wonder award. This is a recap of who received the most awards up to this point.

thanks Oly Mike

I knew it was something simple like that

Makes me less critical of DWright…unless some of those Wonder awards are of the “I wonder what he was thinking” variety

Wright

He’s been up and down. I think he was playing great during that early season run. His D looked good, and he was drilling the three and rebounding well. Lately though, he’s been gun-shy about taking the open threes he was hitting early in the year, and that hesitation is turning into a lot of pump fakes, bad shots, and poor decisions. I haven’t been paying super close attention, but his D hasn’t looked that good lately either, but really the team defense in general is a mess right now. He’s had a couple opportunities to match up with some very good small forwards and he’s been wilting under the pressure.

I’m not too worried about it though. This is a bigger role than he’s ever had in the NBA, and I think he’s shown that he could still be an important player for us with a little more time and experience. Plus, at the price we paid we can’t really complain. I still think he was a great signing.

The real take away in this...

Is that FJ has written more than his fair share of recaps. Sorry man, we will have to step it up!
