That's not possible unless Larry Riley has someone in mind he wants to waive
If that’s the case, I’m going to guess it will be the training camp invitee Jeff Adrien.
So I'm guessin that's why Jeff Adrien didn't play tonight?
Because he’s gettin the boot? So our inactives are going to be Jeremy Lin (Supposedly going to the D-League according to Matt Steinmetz), Ekpe Udoh (But will be back soon), and Brandan Wright (I used to be a huge fan of this guy but now he just has to go for the better of the Warriors and himself).
Carney may still be inactive because of his injury
But when he and Udoh comes back, I can definitely see BWright as inactive. Maybe Charlie Bell first before Lin. Who’s the 3rd inactive? Looking at the roster, I guess Lin will be the 3rd inactive after all.
I see Brandan Wright being traded soon...
I’d be happy if we can get any kind of draft pick outta him!
should just buy out Bell. he adds no value and is not an expiring contract this year so he has no trade value.
What are we doing with Lin, Dleague? why not just cut him? are we really worried that some other team will scoop him and we’ll miss out on his potential? do we really think he’s going to get better. he is what he is. a good basketball player that isn’t good enough for the nba. Stop the, he’s not ready excuses. let’s be honest. his jump shot is super ugly. he shoots of the palm of his hand. on top of that he hasn’t shown an ability to finish at the rim. so he can take his hussle and Defense and passing else where for all i care.
he is what he is. a good basketball player that isn’t good enough for the nba.
He might be good enough someday for some deep team’s last slot but we need someone better right now, especially since Binky just tweaked his ankle again. If we had an experienced backup point Stef could take off long enough to heal up better.
Lights please, lights please, turn off the lights.

Ok, but then he would still count towards the Salary cap and you’d have no expiring contract to use next year.

huh? ya, if you drop him from the roster but that’s not what i suggested. i suggested buying him out of his remaining contract.
Ok, so do you sacrifice 4m in expiring next year for some d-delague player and some money towards the cap we cannot do anything about?
The agreed-upon buy-out amount (see question number 62) is included in the team salary instead of the salary called for in the contract. If the player had more than one season left on his contract, then the buy-out money is distributed among those seasons in proportion to the original salary. For example, say a player had three seasons remaining on his contract, with salaries of $10 million, $11 million and $12 million. The player and team agree to a buyout of $15 million. The $15 million is therefore charged to the team salary over the three seasons. Since the original contract had $33 million left to be paid, and $10 million is 30.3% of $33 million, 30.3% of the $15 million buyout, or $4.545 million, is included in the team salary in the first season following the buyout. Likewise, 33.33% of $15 million, or $5 million, is included in the team salary in the second season, and 36.36% of $15 million, or $5.455 million, is included in the team salary in the third season.
If we could end up getting a quality player who would significantly contribute, then I’d be all for waiving Bell. Acie Law, while would help to shore up our guard depth, is still just a duct tape fix at best, and not worth cutting Bell for.

Apparently Chicago thinks weaver does too? With so few minutes in his record why do you think he’s better than Law?

I'm not sure he is, but we know what Law can do.
We’re not exactly sure what Weaver provides…

Adrien is the most logical choice
With Lou back, and Ekpe on the way, Adrien will be riding the pine even more. We desperately need Guard depth.

Agreed. Healthy return of big men = bad news for Adrien
If Ekpe & Amundson are healthy then Adrein’s days are numbered. Too many big men ahead of him on the roster & guard position (off bench is too weak to not be addressed).
Adrien being cut is the logical choice
Although as an overall player, you’d love to keep him, it doesn’t make sense with Lou and Udoh back. Even when we didn’t have Lou and Udoh, Adrien barely got used enough – we still lost and Keith Smart failed at using him properly. That’s probably the best Adrien will ever get in a GSW uniform.
this sucks
I hate to see Adrien go!!
What is up with us handing out all these guaranteed contracts?
Based on what we’ve seen on the court so far, Bell would have been the most logical cut. This is purely a contract issue, not based off of what’s best for the team

The only one we “handed” it to was Jeremy Lin. Lin’s guaranteed contract doesn’t really make a difference though. Only the money is guaranteed and it’s not even that much.
You are correct…it’s only partially guaranteed. Now that Amundson is back and Udoh will be joining soon, I think Lin should be sent down to the D-league to get more experience.
I’m sad that Adrien has to be the one to go, but now that Amundson and Udoh are pretty much back, he wouldn’t get much PT anyways.
