Why?
We’ll he’s pretty good at fouling, missing free throws, running out of gas, missing defensive rotations, falling for every play setup that’s thrown at him, spiking his hair, talking like he’s hood, drinking vodka, and putting up good numbers in 20 minutes per game that if we magically calculated them at 40 are pretty dam good…..but he’ll never play 40 so he’s pretty good at watching from the bench and also suncking up the payroll. To give him credit. He’s good at using his god give length to grab rebounds, and……..well……….ummm…….oh, okay, catch a ball when he’s wide open and dunk it at an over 50% ratio….yeah baby. We’re talking a real winner here.
You are massively underestimating how important it is to get rebounds and score efficiently and how good Andris is at both those things.

Even when I agree with most of what he says, I still can’t stand Kamla.

Here's a scouting report I illegally stole from another teams GM on Mr. run around the court with limp wrists.
Beidrins – box him out.
Funny that no one has managed to do that effectively throughout Andris’s career.
One quick question: Was the random homophobic remark necessary it all? Keep that nonsense out of here.

Wow
Homophobic? Are you saying that limp wrist is a homosexual tendency? It sure sounds like you are stereotyping fairly strong yourself and if so need to be the one that takes that “nonesense” out of here. I just pointed it out because he looks like a wimp running around like that. But maybe your right…I’m not sure and need to think about that.
I think he sucks, is over rated, and is a one dimensional player. I think if he was playing with a HS team his stats wouldn’t look any better. I don’t think he can match up or defend any of the post players on any of the contending teams and i’m pretty sure that Nellie could beat him one on one today. Before or after his scotch and rocks.
Limp wristed is a pretty common derogatory remark directed at gay men. I guess being aware of that is somehow “stereotyping.”

Not at all. In fact gay or homosexual never crossed my mind. Wimp, yes absolutely.
I’m not sure why you thought it was other than to think you have a sensitivity issue and if so, again that wasn’t my intention. Sarcastic, sure. I like to have fun on here.
Look, I don’t hate Goose. I used to actualy like him when he was on a rookie contract but, he hasn’t really improved and hasn’t show a ton of indication that he will, with the exception that he’s developing a decent left hand. I just think if he’s going to earn his pay and be a major factor on a winning team he’s got to bring more to the table than just rebounds. If he’s going to be our starting center and we’re to be contenders i think it’s vital that he AT MINIMUM add at least one dimension to his game. See that he is pyhsically retarded offensively, he should learn how to play defense to the same level of excellence at which he rebounds. Both man to man as well as team defensive schemes and rotations. He’s got to be a general down there in the same sense that Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace once where when they both started on their respective championship teams. So the question is do you really think he will ever get there? I don’t and therefore will make fun of the flat posterior of his skull and his limp wrist.
Not saying that you were being homophobic, but “limp wrist” does connote homosexuality (search urban dictionary, or google), so no need to attack cap’n hack for suggesting you were being derogatory.
Furthermore, what does Goose’s spiked hair have to do with it? His “talking like he’s hood” is I’m pretty sure a Latvian accent, the result of, umm, well, growing up in Latvia….speaking Latvian…and what’s this about vodka?? Is this in reference to his nickname being goose?
Anyway, you’re wrong about not being able to play 40 minutes – in the past, Goose has shown he’s capable. No, he’s not going to average 40 minutes a night (really, no one should), but he can play 30-35 a night, 40 when necessary, and put up spectacular numbers in rebounding and fg%.
other points of note:
-His lack of a great offensive game is not an issue, because our offense does not at all call for a high-scoring post player. It calls for four high-scoring wingmen, with a post player who can set good screens (check), roll (check), have soft hands (check) and finish inside (check). Beans is pretty perfect for our system, because he does those things without ever wanting or requiring the ball in his hands.
-Beans rebounding numbers are underrated. Some may say overrated, because of our fast paced system, but the reality is, we get an extra ~five rebounds a game (usually on the offensive end), because of Biedrins’ ability to tap the ball to a teammate. Ask Monta or Baron or Turiaf how many times they’ve gotten a check on the stat sheet next to “rebound,” when Biedrins really deserved it.
-He is a better defender than you give him credit for. This year he has been bad, due to injuries and poor conditioning, but in general, he can hold his own. He’s great at moving his feet, and he’s long; other than the refs not yet respecting him, he doesn’t have any giant defensive flaws, other than being skinny, but that’s what Turiaf is for.

Great Post
I agree with everything you said except for the offense part. I actually don’t think Biedrins is that great on offense; he still has potential to be even better, though.
I do give Biedrins a ton of credit for being an efficient player, but his offensive game is still limited. First off, he has no post game whatsoever; he’s a wonderful pick and roll player but he’s not the type of guy you can pass the ball to down low and watch him work his defender with post moves. He can’t even make a shot outside 3 feet of the basket, and after all these years he still can’t make free throws.
With that being said, I want to state that I also agree with a lot of people that Biedrins does need to be more involved in our offense. The team needs to better utilize his quickness and set up more pick and rolls in their offense; if Beans had Steve Nash as his teammate you could really see the real Andris. Biedrins is also a pretty good passer, they can do a pick and roll with him and once Biedrins gets the ball he can kick it back out to an open shooter; good ball movement. His efficiency at close range will allow him to get more points if he gets passes down low more often.
However, that’s about all you can get from him on offense. He’s a great pick and roll player, but his post offense is not reliable. As of now, he’s not that guy we can trust to make moves with his back to the basket (which is the type of big man we so desperately need). You say he’s the perfect center for our system, but in my opinion the perfect center for Nellie would be a Chris Webber type of big (offense wise). The perfect big man for Nellie would be someone who has versatility, someone who can make outside shots, has post moves, and can pass the ball. A Dirk Nowitzki type of player would be an ideal player for our offense, too.
Right now, Biedrins is the type of player who’s success comes from his teammates. He can only score big if his teammates run pick and roll’s with him or if they give him the perfect pass down low. Other than that, you can’t really give him the ball inside and expect him to break his defender down in the post. He will get some impressive layups, but if the defense puts emphasis on Biedrins it will definitely give him a hard time since he doesn’t have the necessary low post moves to shake off a sticky defender; he’s basically getting his points from quick layups close to the rim from when he’s open. If the defense decides to focus their strategy on Biedrins, they can make sure to keep him at least 3 feet away from the rim so that he’ll have a hard time to score.
Don’t get me wrong, though. I value Biedrins a lot and think he’s a great player. I’m just talking about his limitations, in no way am I labeling him as a bad player. He’s basically a good young big man who just needs to work on some aspects of his game. Defensively he has potential to be a top defensive center, offensively he’s efficient and valuable but has a few limitations. Some of these limitations could be quick fixes; if he played more aggressively he could draw more fouls using his quickness, and better free throw percentage would allow him to convert that into a 1-2 punch.

great point
What I really should have said in my post, is that, currently, Biedrins does what is asked of him in the offense to near perfection. He does run the pick and roll incredibly well. He does have great hands, and is a good finisher. His ability to move to the open spot should not be undervalued either. We see Monta’s dishes to Biedrins and give Monta all the credit for making a hard pass, but that’s only half of it; the other half is Biedrins realizing where the defense has been drawn, and where he can be both open, and in position to score. He is wonderful at this.
But you’re right, I agree that he is severely lacking in post-up moves, and that as a result, we can’t run our offense through him, which does create issues. I think, however, with a healthy lineup, this is less of an issue, because Randolph has at least some semblance of an inside game, even if it’s still lacking. I like the idea of playing a Cleveland-style offense: a big man who can score (shaq/Randolph), a big who can run the pick and roll to perfection, and rebound (Varejao/Beans), and three wing players, all who can shoot, and at least two who can create for teammates.
I thought this was great
And kamla doesn’t know anything. imagine if onixn was able to do this…..

Honestly, I think the Warriors should see what they can get in exchange for Biedrins.
Once Brendan Wrights Shouldr is healed, I hope he lifts a lot in the offseason to put on 15-20 more pounds. I really think that if he gets thicker and stronger, Brendan could be the teams center. The guy is around 220-225 and could possibly get to 240 in the offseason. That’s about around how much Andris weighs. Wright is a little bit shorter(maybe an inch or so) than Andris, but his 7’4" wingspan probably makes him a longer player than Biedrins. Plus, Wright has a way better post game than Andris. He’s got the baby hook, and nobody can block Wrights shot because his arms are extremely long. Not to mention Wright has a decent jumper, while Andris has made maybe one in his career. Defensively and rebounding wise, Wright is the better player. Wright can swat anybodies shot and when given the minutes, he can rebound in double digits. If Wright can get thicker and stronger, then I say he is the teams center of the future, with AR playing the 4 and Ronny backing him up. The production from the center position, I beleive would go up.
I don't think he could ever be a convincing center
and even if he could, it would probably take him 2 summers to put on the weight you’re asking, not one.

This Guy's an Idiot
How can Coby Karl get 24 minutes and Biedrins only 20?….Um…Karl is PG, Biedrins is a C…
moron
i too see Andris minutes about 4mpg short of what it seems he should playing, but i don’t think that’s Nellie being a mad scientist with his line up. i think it’s nellie and the W’s tanking the season and seeing who of the d-leaguers should be around next season.
ALSO – It’s HIGHLY likely that they’re limiting AB’s minutes so he’s effective in his minutes, doesn’t get hurt, and will be part of a deadline deal to bring a Bosh or Stoudemire.
Hopefully BOSH, not Stoudemire
How can Coby Karl get 24 minutes and Biedrins only 20?….Um…Karl is PG, Biedrins is a C…
moron
So he’s the moron when you just showed you don’t really understand Biedrins is a very good player at a position of need, and Karl is a scrub we signed due to injuries….. WOW you honestly think Biedrins’ should be getting 24 MPG MAX???? Why? Can you explain how that makes sense.

Biedrins is a first half wonder
Biedrins is more effective in the first half. On nights where he get 15rebounds, usually he got 10 of them in the first half.
in a season where he’s been hurt most of the time – in a sensitive/easy to re-injure area, 24 minutes is probably what he should be playing. keep him effective and don’t play him to exhaustion – which is when injuries occur.
it’s not like i’m saying he should only be getting 15mpg.
All i was saying is it’s stupid to compare a PG and C in terms of minutes played. Compare the 4’s and 5’s to Biedrins’ minutes and you’re talking about something comparable.
