Your favorite Adonal Foyle memories
I was having a discussion with my friend about how I hate Derek Fisher and how he's president of the players union and Adonal Foyle's the vice president.
He did not know much about Adonal Foyle and called him a big dumb brute that just blocks shots. I would like to hear some comments about what you remember about Adonal Foyle so I can have material to throw back at him.
My thoughts:
Foyle is one of the nicest guys in the NBA that contributes to a lot of charities as well. He was overpayed by Chris Mullin, but at least we know that Foyle is doing some good with his money, which we can't say about some other overpayed guys like Kenny Thomas or Jared Jeffries (I don't know much about these guys, but they can't compare to Adonal when it comes to good will).
Some fans might have done the "We want Foyle!" chant because he was our human victory cigar during We Believe but it was also fun to see one of the nicest guys in the NBA get some playing time instead of warming the bench.
What are your thoughts and memories of Adonal Foyle?

If you don’t know why he’s making this face, you should not even be on this site right now.

I was going to describe that face in hopes of somebody knowing what I was talking about, but a screen cap works so much better!

I love that, BDiddy dunking on AK47. Always makes me smile. The bench was going wild. The announcers laughing at Foyle’s face. That was the greatest dunk I have seen since J-Rich and Vinsanity’s sick dunk contest performances.
"Who Wants some pudding pops?, delicious and nutritious!
"WE WANT FOYLE!"

What he did off the court
Namely his work with Democracy Matters, graduating magna cum laude from Colgate, etc. He was and is a classy individual.
@worldblee on Twitter.
I wasn’t sure whether I’d side with MB (first thing I thought of) or MDB’s first comment. And I’m being serious.

What he did off the court
I never understood this at all. This was the same illogical argument that Gwen Knapp (I think it was her) used to defend Foyle’s outrageous contract. What does this have to do with winning basketball games?
I’m not saying Foyle isn’t a good guy; by all accounts, he’s probably the most intelligent man in the NBA, but we never say ‘Player X is dumb’ or ‘Player Y is a greedy A$$.’
I don’t think the point is it justified his contract, it just made you feel better about his not living up to it, and the off the court stuff is a good reason to like him as a player….but yeah, I think we’re all onboard with the whole “pay guys for what they contribute on the court” concept….

The topic subject was “Your favorite Adonal Foyle memories”, not how good was Adonal Foyle?
Mine are anything having to do with Zorgon and his Foyle addiction.

When we packaged him in a trade with the Grizzlies to get Pau Gasol to join the We Believe team!
Oh wait… nevermind. We bought out his contract.
I loved Adonal Foyle, though. He went through those losing years with us (even though we’re still losing) and always remained positive. I remember when I first got to find out about the type of person he was, I saw a segment about him on tv and he said in his spare time he loves to read books and write poetry. A lot of people outside Warriors fans didn’t realize how much of an intelligent guy he really is.
But yeah, I don’t really have a favorite moment for Foyle, though.

His stone hands and leaded feet
In all seriousness though, he was a great guy, not a good player, but its the Warriors fault for paying him so much money. My favorite Adonal memory was watching him scoop up a loose ball near midcourt and rumbling 50 feet dribbling all over the place and throwing down an emphatic jam en route to a career scoring night (20 pts). I also loved how the crowd was always rooting for him, and how well he took his human victory cigar title after Nellie came in (We want Foyle!)

Yeah, Shows what a jerk Nellie really is, he wanted the only guy strong enough to keep big men out of the paint to lose weight and run faster, then when we get to the utah playoffs and need the big man foyle is not ready to play cause Nellie’s been sitting him all season.

His twenty rebound game.
I think it was against the Sonics.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
I told Randolph that Bill Russell would tell him to keep that ball in play and start the break.
RANDOLPH: "I know. But sometimes, you gotta let ‘em know."

When he became the Warriors All-Time leader in blocks
and they played “Simply the Best” in the arena. I felt like shedding a tear.
HIs Last Gesture
Didn’t he arrange a catered breakfast for all the support staff at the Oracle on the morning he left?
When I met him at the AIDS walk in 2006
He signed my friend’s pair of dirty ass, was-white-but-now-is-brown, air force 1s, I cant believe he even touched that shoe, i wouldn’t have touched it with a stick. Really nice guy. Doesn’t seem like all the rich and fame got to his head at all.

I love the guy in back with his fanny pack
Dork shorts, and sweater tied around his waist… wait, that wasn’t you, was it?
Trust me, learning english isn’t a waste of time. It is actually sort of useful.

My favorite Adonal moment
Was during a game vs. the Denver Nuggets when Larry Hughes was traded to the Warriors just after the all-star game. I remember there was this feeling we fans had for about 32 games, similar to the one we’re having right now towards Stephen Curry. We had a talented young player, and this particular game, he was on his way to a 44 point night. He was hitting everything, the crowd at the arena were screaming like drunken apes, and Antonio McDyess was fighting us back with some pretty violent 2-handed dunks.
Well, it was late in the 4th quarter and Larry had about 40. McDyess gets the ball with a clear lane and we all watched him load up with one dribble for one of those monster dunks. Needless to say, he jumped as high as he could and brought the ball back to his spine with his knees tucked in, just ready to tear the rim off. Then Adonal comes from the weak side flying backwards, and just absolutely stuffs Antonio. Dice looked pretty damn surprised because he looked like he just got shot in mid-air as his whole body contorted and landed awkwardly. Larry took it to the other side and pulled up for one of those 10 foot hanging jump shots. Denver called timeout and everyone starts shoving adonal around and he’s smiling…it was great.
reading that brought a smile to my face
memories!
