Postgame Quotes from warriors.com recap
Don Nelson
On tonight's game:
"I have no problems with this game. I thought that we competed for four quarters, gave everything that we had, and it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t like the first half of our last game. I was very happy with our performance tonight."
On Stephen Curry’s performance:
"[It was] remarkable. He just kept us in it for some period of time. I just think that if he could have finished his passes he could have had 20 assists."
On Monta Ellis struggling with his shot:
"He didn’t participate in today’s shootaround because of a bad back. I didn’t even know if I’d have him, I didn’t think I would. It’s very difficult to play with a bad back."
On starting Andris Biedrins and Ronny Turiaf:
"Actually, I thought that I was going to have [G] C.J. [Watson] and I was going to start a small lineup. But without C.J. I needed a third guy just in case we got in foul trouble. I only had three smalls and I didn’t want to play a power forward at the two-guard, so I thought it would be better to start big and see if we could rebound with them. See how the first quarter would go. There were some match-ups in which I liked going small in which we took advantage of. That was the strategy anyway."
Andris Biedrins
On tonight's game:
"Coach wants me to get involved more on the offensive end and that’s why he said we’ll run a lot more pick and rolls in the game. I think he said little guys look for the big guys all the time and they were giving really great passes for easy shots."
Stephen Curry
On getting the bigs involved:
"Our game plan was to come out and run ball screens pretty much the whole game. We thought we could attack them and make them make a decision to guard the guard coming off the big in the hole and then we had shooters on the other side so we could spread the floor out so that allowed Goose (Andris Biedrins) and Ronny (Turiaf) to have a lot of open looks down the middle…and they finished a lot of them."
On missing C.J. Watson:
"We missed the extra scorer, the extra playmaker. Even his defensive presence, we had a game plan coming in with him in the lineup that was different then how we played tonight with him out so we did miss him."

My Notebook
- According to Nellie in the Don Nelson show, Biedrins does shoot FTs in practice, but somehow, it's just not the same in the game.
- On the Don Nelson show, Nellie wasn't willing to talk about Monta and Curry playing together. I'm a little suspicious if that's a hint that Nellie thinks they won't work together, or perhaps he just doesn't want to add fuel to the fire.
What's next?
- The final game of the February home stand is on Saturday at 7:30pm against the Pistons. If you go to the game, go early, because another event (Monster Jam) will be held right next door, causing an increase in traffic. More info.
- Waiting to see what CJ's condition is, and whether or not we need to ask for another 10 day contract exception.

Welll that was one prediction up in smoke....
Biedrins certainly was not the Warrior Wonder… But he did show some signs of a little more aggresive play and I actually thought his FT looked a tad better.. so maybe he was not so crushed by Nelson’s comments as others here seemed to be.
Curry….. All-star within 2 years…I said it in Jan and I’ll stick with that…This kid just learns and develops at a staggering rate….I have not seen a player develop at this rate for a very long time. Is basketball IQ is truly second to none on this team…
Its another loss…but hey.. still only a choice of 8 players… how many games have we started this year with a full roster? Could it be the big fat ZERO?
"LOVE WARRIORS - HATE COHAN" - Sell The Team!
Yeah, it's clearly zero
since BWright was guaranteed out for the whole season

Man… Turiaf throws it down so hard all the time. But, how could you not vote for that move that sent Birdman flying?

Yeah, this was going to be another one sided poll
Too tired to think of anything better after going through all those mp3s tonight

More Anthony Tolliver stat fun
Before the game started, I looked up Anthony Tolliver’s 3 pt stats since he got his permanent contract on Feb 6. Tonight he’s 2/3, giving him a total of 11/19. That’s 57.9%! That’s even better than Anthony Morrow in the same period, 27/51, 52.9%.
Speaking of Morrow, his 3pt shooting % has now pushed him to 3rd.
Mike MIller 44/79 55.7%
Daniel Gibson 68/142 47.9%
Anthony Morrow 93/200 46.5%
Keep firing Morrow!
+1
I do so love BlackBoiPachino! And Curry too, obviously. A hard-fought loss in which both of them play really well is basically my optimal result these days. The more I see Ammo & Steph work the perimeter together, the more excited I get about what this team can do with a healthy Randolph, Wright, Kelenna, and Evan Turner / Wes Johnson added to the mix (and, ideally, Nellie, Cohan and Rowell sent packing).
Morrow’s consistency in production is pretty hilarious. For the crowd who thinks increased minutes cause a player’s per minute production to dip…
Morrow minutes per game, last season v. this season
22.6 —> 30.4
Morrow last season v. this season, per 36 minutes
478 —> .478 FG%
.467 —> .465 3FG%
4.7 —> 4.6 rebounds
1.9 —> 1.9 assists
I mean, a little improvement would be nice, but that’s pretty amazing.
There will be no extra point!

Yeah, pretty awesome. Also, just my opinion (<—-!!!), but it seems to me that his defense is better than it was last year. His plus-minus numbers suggest that this may be the case… the Dubs’ defense has been a bit more effective with Morrow on the floor, which wasn’t true last season.
As much as I like Maggette and think he gets too little respect around here, I can’t say that I’m unhappy that he’s out. Morrow’s still my favorite Warrior, and there’s nothing more fun than hearing Oracle gasp when they realize he’s about to launch. I’d love to see him get starter’s minutes to close out the year.

but also when he launches FROM TWENTY MILES AWAY from the 3 pt line, plus it goes in!

I should have noted in the stats I posted above that even though the FG% and 3FG% are exactly the same as last season, he’s gotten himself to the line a bit more, hit a slightly higher pct of his FTs, and shot a much higher percentage of his overall shots from 3. Result: a 24 point jump in TS%, from a stellar .588 to a super-stellar .612.

More mind games from coach Diablo. Nelson might as well had just pushed him down a flight of stairs!!!
I give pressure the reach-around.

This team is so predictable...
…that my sports betting account is getting kinda juicy. Hey this team can have some positive impact on my life after all. Thanks Nellie!!
Monta is getting warn down
He had a bad back last night to. Those heavy minutes are catching up to him like they did to Jack and Baron. Nellie resting guys is unheard of. Anyway my fave part was Beans hitting his 1st FT attempt. Curry was nice but this is a momentous occasion. 50% > 13%
Rookie: "Why did you bench me?"
Nellie: "You're a rookie"
16% now
And rising. Rick Barry, watch your back!
There will be no extra point!

You mean, until the last two months of the season right? Rest-a-vet is probably on the way in.
