GAME THREAD #59 - Golden State Warriors @ Miami Heat - A Must Win
Golden State Warriors at Miami Heat, Mar 2, 2010 4:30 PM PST
Update: 10:05 AM: Added Poll

Warriors (W-L): 17-41
Heat (W-L): 29-31
Tip Off: 4:30pm PST
TV: CSN | Radio: KNBR
Blog Buddy: Peninsula is Mightier
Yeah it's a must-win game - but not for us. Check out what DWade said in between his T-Mobile commercials.
``We have some big games coming up at home, and we have to try to take care of them,'' said Heat guard Dwyane Wade, who returned to the lineup Sunday after missing four games with a strained left calf. ``If we don't take care of home, then we will find ourselves out of the playoff [picture] and unable to get back. . . . Tuesday is a must-win game for us.''
Well snap...
I guess the question is now what?
On Saturday we staged an LL Cool J-like comeback against the Pistons without Monta and with an injured Biedrins...but look at it this way.
GSoM Friend Tim Kawakami points out that we're doing better without our "trio" - Monta Ellis, Corey Maggette, and Andris Biedrins.
While I have no beef with Maggs and his play this year, I will say this about #8.

Yippeee.
Do we stand a chance against a team led by DWade and fighting for a playoff spot?
...probably not.
R Dizzle's Predictions
- Warriors by 1
- Dwyane Wade follows LeBron and decides to change his number...to 23
- Steph Curry with a double-double
- Jermaine O'Neal looks like his old self and pulls down a double-double
- Newcomer Reggie Williams pulls out some Ammo and hits 2 three'

sorry but
Monta is the least of out problems this year. He may have be a ball hog, have terrible defense and is a turn over machine BUT the guy can score, period.
Am I the only one thinking we need to investigate why we have so many injured players? Sure you can blame the long minutes the fabulous 8 have to play but still… who is keeping these guys in shape and teaching them how to NOT get injured? Are they not conditioned enough? are they being rushed back from injury?. AND, do the players just not care anymore? did they realize we cant attacked any big names and just through their hands up and say F it?
Maybe our style of play?
Or maybe Nellie put something in their food so he can screw up the franchise while till being able to get his record.

Am I the only one thinking we need to investigate why we have so many injured players?
It’s no mystery, it’s just the composition of the team and the fact that they have to play at too hard a pace to stay in games. There’s always more chance of injury when tired and trying to play over one’s head.
Lights please, lights please, turn off the lights.

Monta Ellis likely won’t join team on trip. MRI reveals lower back strain.
For Ellis, that’s a sprained right ankle (2 games), sprained left knee (3 games), strained lower back (at least 5 games) – all since Jan. 23

You know what else makes this an ugly road trip?
All 5 teams we’ll be facing are playoff teams, or fighting for a playoff spot. The worst of the bunch is the Hornets, 4 games behind the #8 spot.

Prediction for tonight; dubs (who have the real must win, gotta get Nellie the record before next year) pull this one out behind the superb play of the Anthony’s- Tolliver and Morrow. Curry goes for 20 and 12 too.
Chris Cohan- YOU'RE FIRED!

Curry-CJ-Morrow-Tolliver-Turiaf — this is our 35th different starting lineup and 13th in our last 14 games.
These five guys have played brilliantly as a unit, though… they’ve spent 57 minutes on the floor together so far, and outscored opponents 147-101 in that time. I wouldn’t expect a win, but the Warriors could be competitive here.

Let's take a moment and aknowledge the terrible yet consistent officiating.
Serving it up night in and night out -Steph "The Chef" Curry

why is steph always in foul trouble?
Would be nice with how well he’s been playing lately to not worry about him fouling out
i KNEW morrow would miss
that looked way wrong for him :( :( :(
I'm looking foward to a heartattack...

arghghghghghghhgh
slight misexecution on that pick roll. That would have been awesome to tie the game.
Why can't we ever close out a game right?
I mean can we actually get off a shot?
by Cpt. Jack in the Box on Mar 2, 2010 7:06 PM PST reply actions
man
turiaf was thinkin about the dunk before the pass
I'm glad,though...
Wade would of hit a game winner and be all over ESPN,anyways.
by Cpt. Jack in the Box on Mar 2, 2010 7:06 PM PST reply actions
exactly
perfectly placed… turiaf’s job to hang on to that, but he was thinking about the dunk before securing the ball
game over
good effort boys, 5 undrafted players take the heat to the final minute.
gswscribe
Maybe a bit much for Curry to recognize all this, but probably can’t drop a dime to Turiaf in that moment. He doesn’t have hands like that
STUPID TURIAF!
I feel sorry for steph for having such a weak ass PF/C to dish it to.
tomorrow's going to be a REAL challenge
Orlando Magic on a back to back
GO WARRIORS STILL! SO WAHT!

Turiaf...
and it’s sad cause you know he has the heart of a lion figuratively and literally
I think that was one place where we miss Biedrins
I see Biedrins catching that laser pass from Curry in the clutch
We play well
Without Monta and Maggette, we play so much better. If they played tonight I don’t think the game would of been this close. Anyone agree?
One question from someone who missed seeing the game...
I just looked at the Box Score. How does CJ not get an assist in 40 minutes?

Here's my guess
He kept dishing to Morrow on the 3pt line…

Nellie praised Williams as the only D Leaguer who can pass
But I thought Karl did OK passing too
Kinda like me right now...
not really, I expected this loss. Didnt think it would be that close though.
