So what's the scoop on this Reggie Williams guy?
Leading scorer in the D-league. Impressive numbers: 26PPG, nearly 6 boards and 3 assists, and his percentages are phenomenal (57/82/41). But like with every great D-leaguer, you have to take their stats with a grain of salt. Undrafted out of college...played in Europe. There's a reason why these guys didn't get drafted.
Watching some of his highlights on youtube, seems like his game looks alot like Tyreke Evans or John Salmons, but he has legit 3-pt range and he's a southpaw. Well, he's got a good first test tonight going if he's matched up against D-Wade. Let's hope he fares better than Cariter Martin! We desperately need another body to score buckets these days.
What's your take on this guy? Filet mignon or ground beef? My gut is he'll at least get a 2nd 10-day contract and longer if the Warriors injuries situation doesn't get any better the rest of the season.

From all that I’ve read…More offense, less defense.
Also, they said he was a guard…we need another guard?
He's a forward...

Another Guard
We need guards because currently the W’s only have 3 – Monta/Curry/CJ and that’s it.
at 6’ 6", this guys a swing man, so i’m guessing a big guard, small small forward.
i bet in Nellie’s system he’ll put up numbers and look like another great find.
Nellie has a history of taking CBA/D-Leaguers and making them successful NBA players: Mario Elie, Vincent Askew, CJ Watson, Buike…
Monta is most likely out
for the entire road trip. hence we need this guy to relieve steph and c.j some minutes
we are short at the SF position too. we only got morrow and george……. and any D-Leaguer is an upgrade over george =P

Yeah but this time it’s kind of forced since the Warriors are so injured (although I believe Kelenna Azubuike was picked up in the 06-07 season during Jason Richardson’s 2 month absence with a broken hand).

There is a reason, that being because the each draft only provides 60 available picks total for a very very large pool of potential NBA talent. Obviously some players are better than others, but in hindsight there’s a long list of drafted players who obviously shouldn’t have been.
Being drafted doesn’t necessarily make you a good player, nor does being undrafted make you a flawed player. The talent is there; it all depends on whether or not their skills and/or consistency translate well enough in the NBA to maintain a successful career.
true, it goes both ways
But D-league stats don’t tell you much other than they can score in the D-league. Same with Euro league stats. Its a different level than the NBA. How many guys from the D-league come in and eventually score as many points in the NBA? I can’t name one.
Not to say these guys are chumps…obviously they have talent and some are definitely overlooked in the draft. Its all about show and prove.
We Believe!!!
Is it just me...
or do you get slightly excited whenever we pull up a D-Leaguer? I’m looking forward to watching Williams play tonight.
That makes two of us
but in the interest of full disclosure, it should be noted that’s primarily because I cover the D-League when I’m not pulling my hair out over the Celtics.
I really like Williams’ game. Clearly one of the most deserving of this year’s crop of D-Leaguers, and I’m glad to see him get a shot.
Watched him closely a bit earlier this year and put together some thoughts on him, linked here if any Warriors fans are looking for more Reggie material.

I think Warriors will keep Reggie has the backup PG for Curry next year since Ellis will get traded and CJ wanna leave.

Looks like a combination of Amare Stoudemire and Jason Richardson.

He looked great again in the NO game last night.
With a 15 player roster next season I could see him,Hunter and T on the bench after those expirings are cleared out. They are hungry and definetly have something to offer for the cost.

if you look over the contracts on the team closely
the fifteen-player roster is nearly full, with George the definite departure. Radmanovic won’t exercise his option ‘cause he won’t be paid more elsewhere, Azubuike is unlikely to exercise his, Watson (restricted) and Bell (unrestricted) are the other free agents other than the d-leaguers, and both could easily be staying. claxton’s $$ will be off the books but he’s already been cut from the roster, and there’s a high lottery pick getting added unless he’s traded away.
He went to VMI...
… and if you’ve ever seen VMI play, you’ll know they’re the NCAA version of the Warriors. Two-time national scoring champ out of the Big South.
Go Nevada Wolf Pack!
Reggie and his "never say die attitude"
Last night in the Phoenix game , Reggie exemplified VMI’s creed of “Never Say Die”…..which is drilled into every Cadet from day one. 18 pts in the fourth quarter may not be much compared to the likes of the big scoring machines players….but for a 20 day rookie it ain’t bad. The Institute is pulling for you Brother.
