Actually, Cohan will still own the team on draft lotto day.
So if we hit #1, the price tag will go up (or at the very least Cohan will have another negotiating chip)… meaning that Cohan makes more money.

My point was that it mitigates some of the “karic chance” improvements we get from Cohan being willing to sell the team in the first place. In essence: karma isn’t going to shine on us if it knows Cohan is still going to benefit. In all likelyhood, it’ll smite us this year, wait for Cohan to sell, force the fans to endure one more terrible season, and then give us the #1 pick once it knows Cohan is out of the picture.

Um, the Warriors publicly announced that they have retained a brokering agency. If that isn’t grounds to talk about a sale, albeit not final, then I don’t know what is. I guess Fitz and Brooks are talking about it (I wouldn’t know since I can’t listen to the radio right now).

A while ago I heard someone make a depressing point. With the economy in the tank and the upcoming lockout / new CBA, right now is perhaps the worst time ever to buy a team. This is only reinforced by Jordan’s confirmation as the majority owner in Charlotte. I want to think it could happen, but I have no faith.
Does anyone agree with this sentiment? And who thinks that this is the real reason why Cohan is selling the team?
But that would suggest, that if its the worst time ever to buy...
It might also be the worst time ever to sell, due to values on everything being in the crapper…

If there was even a hint of that being the case, Kawakami would be all over it. The sale has been more than a rumor for awhile and with Cohen’s financial woes he needs to liquidate. Lastly you do not hire the firm he did as a ploy. The cost would far outweigh the upside in a marginal increase in STH sales. This is 100% legit.

I agree with you but how many times has Cohan screwed over the fans? The cost of getting everyone to renew would outweigh the cost of retaining a broker.

This is not like selling your house. This firm is getting paid big time regardless of a sale. This is not a commission only deal. You only hire this firm if you are a serious seller. Should we really move the Warriors to another city when the time comes? Will the fans in SF or SJ or whereever be as wild, raucous, loud, hard, and passionate as they are around Oakland?
I’d like the team to move SF…but thats my personal opinion. I like SF over a freeway in Oakland, where it takes forever to get to the Arena if you live anywhere in SF/Penisula/San Jose. 880 is a killer with their ridiculous lanes…
and i like Bart, but its not best, and nicest way to get to a game especially when you have to take it at 10:30 at night in Oakland, if you get my drift.

I literally had a dream about a month ago that I picked up the newspaper and it announced that Cohan would be selling, i subsequently went straight to GSOM to post my find in my dream. Then I woke up soon after and was really sad it wasn’t true, it felt so real too. But NOW it is!!!

i never understood
why GS never could do better either. There have been some talented players on that team, w/ the exception of Fisher….I hate anything LA related! I have wanted them to be the anti-LA team for so long too when they used to have players like Jackson, Jamison, and Harrington, but they never had a chance. Let’s hope w/ a new check book the team can turn around and maybe become another Dallas Mavericks. I hear Ellison is one competitive SOB. My heart is w/ the C’s, but since I reside in CA, San Jose as of a month ago I will always cheer for the Warriors to come out and plaaaayaaayy.
PS Curry is bad@ss almost as good as Rondo ;-p
