Postgame Quotes from warriors.com recap
Don Nelson
On tonight's game:
"[It was] quite a game, quite an effort. If we just keep playing hard, we’re going to win some games here if we keep doing what we did tonight. [We’re] keeping a positive attitude the best that we can. For a team that gets beat too many times, I thought that the guys really came out , played, and shared the ball. I thought we moved the ball very well. We had a chance to actually win the game. I think that [G] Monta [Ellis] missed a couple of layups and a free throw. We would have gotten their attention had he made those. Anyway, how about my D- League guys. Man, are they playing a lot. I think that’s why we’re keeping the spirit up with those guys getting an opportunity. They don’t have bad games. They play every game like it’s a playoff game. I was very happy to see some success from them, and again, they’ve had plenty and they’ll get more."
Anthony Tolliver
On playing for Coach Don Nelson:
"Coach has showed tremendous confidence in my game, and putting the ball in my hands, running the point sometimes…kind of weird. But at the same time, I know I’m a mismatch a lot of the times, especially when we go small and I’m at the five so I use that to my advantage, using my quickness and trying to get to the basket on these bigger guys and try and help my team out."
On playing against All-Star competition:
"I’m learning that these guys are hard to stop. They’re All-Stars for a reason, unless you have a team effort against guys like these it’s pretty tough to stop them. We did a decent job at times tonight as a team against him (Amar’e Stoudemire) and trying to contain (Steve) Nash at the same time, but we had some lapses and that’s when he had his points. Hopefully we can learn from that and go from there."
Chris Hunter
On his injury:
"(My left ankle) was a little bit sore, but it was one of those things were I cut wrong and twisted it a little bit. It was hard to get after pick and rolls quickly and go in the hole, but I still tried to give a good effort and do what I could do out there."
On the play of the team's former D-Leaguers:
"They are playing well, they’re playing with a lot of heart and a lot of confidence and they are looking like veterans out there. Reggie (Williams) is scoring the ball, Anthony Tolliver was playing great defense on Amar’e (Stoudemire) a tough player and he was scoring the ball and doing a lot of things out there so they were doing a great job."
My Notebook
- Chronicle Live - So that's what Rusty Simmons looks like.
- From Chronicle Live, Nellie's "free" year was meant for the Cohans. He wouldn't do it for another owner.
- From the Rusty Simmons recap, the Warriors signed Reggie for the rest of this season and have an option for him for next season. This answers my question that I asked about when I heard Fitz say his show that the Warriors have Reggie up through next season.
What's next?
- We just saw the Grizzlies on Sat, and they're back on Wed at 7:30pm.
- Wed means another round with Matt Steinmetz on his chat page.

Hunter would have been the real WW tonight
if it wasn’t for his injury.
"It's like Will Smith, remember the Fresh Prince? Get the ball don't let nobody else shoot? That's kinda what the offense can be sometimes, and they're just standing around waiting for Monta to make a play"

Agreed
So let me get this straight... Maggette is the healthy guy.

I voted for him anyway, it was good to see a big guy on our team cloging up the middle for a change even if it was only in the first half.
"If God made us in his image then he must be dumb too, and a little ugly on the side."

If Hunter played 4th qtr
We win by double digits

I voted for him anyway
so did I, and since he’s only got three votes that leaves one other guy who understands the game :>)

Hunter
I wasn’t a fan of his, but he has improved over the season.

wow, neither team led by more than 6
its pretty standard stuff when you sign Dleague guys for the year to include an option for next year
Same thing happened with CJ, Azubuike, and Davidson. The 2nd year is usually partially guaranteed if not completely non-guaranteed. If wouldn’t surprise me if Tolliver and Hunter have the same type of deal. Although Rob Kurz didn’t have an 2nd yr option for some reason.
Tolliver is a UFA
Team wanted an option, Tolliver wouldn’t give it to them.
you know it's nothing but tank mode
when monta is nothing but smiles after missing a big shot.
who's YOUR favorite warrior bust?
hes probably just laughing it off
not everyone locks themselves in a room and cries.
Calling a desperation half-court fling a 'big shot'
is a bit of a stretch.
I think
he’s talking about the three from the wing right before that.

Yeah, that’s what I like about Montay, he knows what’s really important.

It seems like every game that Reggie Williams plays
makes me think less and less of Morrow.
Morrow has really regressed and his limitations as a player are being exposed. He would be a great asset on a better team. Hopefully the better team is the Warriors going forward. I like the kid.

He’s gotta learn how to run through screens like Ray Allen…

Also...
I think having an inside threat thats healthy on the team would help him a lot. Just run him and Curry on the same side of the court with an inside post presence, and play inside out.

Yeah, I agree with what people are saying in this thread
Morrow’s primary strength and most comfortable play for him is shooting the 3, and that’s where he is usually located, around the 3 pt line. Sooner or later he’s going to have to break that mental barrier and get off that 3 point line and learn to recognize cuts and openings and things like that.
And as for Reggie, he’s showing off a nice variety of abilities. My favorite from last night was the consecutive series of “point Reggie” plays that he kept scoring on: a 2pt, and 2 3pts. Reggie being able to run point for a couple of plays just becomes another tool in the offensive toolbox. I’d like to see if he can become a late game closer, too.
Still not sure about his defense, mainly because I haven’t watched him on defense yet.

Nightmares??
Anybody else think Tolliver had nightmares last night after Amare dunked on him like i do my 8 year old cousin on a 8ft rim??…LOL

I had the Suns feed
The announcers were agog over the dunk, saying it was his best in years, comparable to one he had early in his career against Adonal Foyle. That dunk is guaranteed highlight fodder.
Amare was in beast mode.
If Tolliver Block that shot
Amare might commit suicide he wont take such embarrassment from a Dleauge call ups. But I think Toliver is cool with it last night no he wont have nightmares. Because he was great last night. And Amare just do what he need to do, step up because he is the face of the franchise.
Win Or Lose Warriors For Life.........
Phoenix is going nowhere in the playoffs...
This is probably a given, but If they have trouble with the all-D league Warriors they are SOL.
lol
I like how you can hear Steinmetz say “Wow” right at the end of the Don Nelson interview.

I love me some Chris Hunter
The guy is playing like he wants to be the starter next year. He’s playing like one as well, I say resign each D leaguer next season
We all love the Warriors..
We all hate Cohan as an owner of this franchise…
he has been impressive.
We definitely need to consider all options though specially if we can sign him for cheap. He has great footwork and knows how to rebound.
It's just a plant, it grows in the earth, and if you happen to set it on fire there are some effects...
Glass near empty, or, near full?
With the possibility of an imminent sale and new management, I can’t help but reflect on this question. Right now, it appears we have three sharpshooting, triple-option, guys, that can, each, go for 30 points on any, and, every, given night; one veteran, and two rookies. With maturation and management, it might be a lot closer to near full (with 2-3 bonafide front closing players added) than half-full, or, near-empty! This added-on value of talent, and a solid fan base (12/30 in the league), all, point to an exciting future ahead for any businessman. Nellie is doing something right, after all!
It's nice to have players with the triple threat.
Reggie Williams, Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry.
