Postgame Quotes from warriors.com recap

Don Nelson
On tonight's game:
"It was a little better than last time we played them. I was glad to see that. I liked everything except the way we finished the second quarter and the start of the third, other than that I thought we had a game plan. They followed it and did a pretty good job."

"I thought the real key was Chris Hunter. I wanted to play a bigger guy on Zach Randolph because he pretty much dominated our fours, so we decided to put our center on him then get some support on double teams."
Stephen Curry
On playing with a big lead:
"We didn’t know exactly how to handle it in the beginning of the third, that’s when they got back in it. Luckily we made another charge and sealed the deal. I like it that way better than having to claw our way back."

On coach calling the first timeout in the 2nd half:
"I think it was for us to keeping playing hard. We got a little quick with our shots and they were back in transition. We didn’t pick up like we were supposed to so he just lit the fire back in us and I think it worked."
Chris Hunter
On tonight's game:
"It was good. I've got to do a better job at closing out quarters and halves right. You've got to be aggressive and not worry about fouls. You let coach do substitutions whenever you get in foul trouble and keep being aggressive and give good effort."

In a contract year, too @keed1: @gswscribe it looks like Al Harrington has put on 30lbs since leaving the warriors
gotchoy: @MSteinmetzCSN what is the adv. for guaranteeing Williams' contract right now as opposed guaranteeing later at the end of the season?
MSteinmetzCSN: @gotchoy Basically locks Williams up as yours, rather than taking chance and another team taking him to summer league, training camp etc

Steph had a pretty quiet 30… didn’t realize it until now.

Just added gameflow

now i’m REALLY done for tonight

by IQofaWarrior on Mar 25, 2010 12:57 AM PDT reply actions

I really hope we keep Morrow

all teams need a guy who can hit 3 consistently coming off the bench.

by saint.dee on Mar 25, 2010 2:03 AM PDT reply actions

Giving up Morrow for Reggie would be a huge mistake

Need to get rid of Maggette and/or Buike instead.

So let me get this straight... Maggette is the healthy guy.

Great Game

Was there 2. We blew them out pretty much the whole way besides coming out in the 3rd a little cold. And Oh my did anyone else HEAR THAT GUY YELLING ALL NIGHT FOR MORROW TO SUB IN?!?! Was funny at 1st!! Then just got annoying as hell!! Is Morrow in the Nellie Dog house? Hardly saw him play until final 2 minutes or so… Reggie looked pretty smooth out there. I like how Hunter was aggresive last night. Thats how Beans needs to play!! Have to say these D leaguers play hungry!! Love there efforts!!

wow..

youd really drop buike for morrow right now?

by ToeSocks on Mar 25, 2010 10:20 AM PDT reply actions

You replying to me?

No, I said I’d drop Buike for Reggie.

So let me get this straight... Maggette is the healthy guy.

No, I said I’d drop Buike for Reggie.

which would be dropping Buike for Morrow. adding Williams is gonna take someone’s spot not matter how you massage it.

Lights please, lights please, turn off the lights.

Maybe you're right

We have Maggette, Reggie, Morrow, and Azubuike as our wings right now. All of them can score, and none of them can play defense.

It would take a miracle to get Maggette off our hands, and of the other 3 I would take Morrow and Reggie, so then yes, I guess I am taking Morrow over Buike.

So let me get this straight... Maggette is the healthy guy.

I guess Morrow is in the doghouse...

He was always a defensive liability… but we’re the Warriors…

by shahbazi3 on Mar 25, 2010 10:33 AM PDT reply actions

yep....

And Morrows feet are a little 2 slow on defense IMO.. Morrow could be nice next year off the bench for say 20 minutes when we get hopefully every one back healthy.. He can of course open it up for the other if he can keep hitting open 3’s next year. And the kid is a gym rat. Love him for trying and putting in the work. But I don’t see him improving his D that much more..

by Degenerate on Mar 25, 2010 10:40 AM PDT up reply actions

What's wrong with Buike's game?

Really Reggie over Buike? Have u seen Buike play the last few years? Reggie has only a handful of games with us. Buike has proven his stay… Just staying…

by Degenerate on Mar 25, 2010 10:37 AM PDT reply actions

Exactly

Buike is proven. Reggie might just be hot right now

by saint.dee on Mar 25, 2010 10:59 AM PDT up reply actions

Reggie vs Buike

Before you say Azubuike is proven, remember he did just blow up his knee. He’ll be staying with us regardless as his injury hampers his ability to leave us.

Reggie’s per 36 Stats for us this season:
21.2 ppg (54.6% FG, 47.7% 3pt, 85.7% FT), 5.3 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.5 to

Azubuike’s per 36 for us this season
19.5 ppg (54.5% FG, 37.0% 3pt, 67.9%FT), 6.4 rpg, 0.8 apg, 1.1 to

And because he got injured here’s Buike’s per 36 over career
15.6ppg (45.9% FG, 40.9% 3pt, 77.0% FT), 6.0 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.4 to

Both of these guys are small wing scorers who play mediocre defense. Reggie has been in an offensive tear lately so it’s hard to really compare their offensive efficiency, however to note Reggie did average 57% FG and 40% 3pt in the d league. Both of these guys are the perfect Nellie type scoring wing who play little defense. I fully expect Reggie’s offensive numbers to go down once teams begin to respect his play, much like when teams started to respect Morrow’s 3pt shot. However I just don’t see him going down so much that it is significantly worse than Azubuike. Remember, this is a guy who has been able to score at all the levels he has played at so far (lead the NCAA in scoring for two years even)

Azubuike rebounds better than Reggie, but Reggie is the better ball balhandler and at dishing the ball. There are times Buike turns into Maggette-lite and just bull rushes the rim hoping something happens. We have seen Nellie run Reggie at point forward and wasn’t a complete disaster.

Either way, both of these guys thrive in Nelie’s system, but for the SF spot I want a better balhandler, and Reggie is already better than Maggette, Azubuike, and Morrow in that regard.

However, I am in the tank brigade, so I am hoping that we pull it together, draft Turner, and so all of this becomes moot.

So let me get this straight... Maggette is the healthy guy.

Oh boy the per 36 on me!!! lol =)

I say you have good points. I’m just going on more experience I guess with Buike. Cause he has more. The career can’t be matched up with Buike and Reggie though as Reggie of course has a lot less games. And Buike had to wait a couple years to get more playing time.. Anyhow’s I hope for the latter in your comments as well… Somehow getting Turner and not worrying about those wings. =)

Got to Love Chirs Hunters heart and hard playing too. Just what we are looking for in our big man. He does whats asked of him and is doing pretty good. Not a Star.. But a pretty good role player for the future?? 8th or 9th man off the bench next year??

by Degenerate on Mar 25, 2010 3:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Reggie is the shiny new toy. Morrow is in the doghouse. Yadda yadda yadda.

Chris Hunter’s D on Randolph made a huge difference last night. I’ll give the WW to Marc Gasol for being hurt and allowing Hunter to match up with Z-Bo.

Sittin in my scraper watchin Oakland goin wild, ta-dow!

by Supafishal on Mar 25, 2010 11:09 AM PDT reply actions

WW is Hunter or Monta

Monta, played through a strep throat and on guts and Hunter’s defense on Z Bo was huge

We all love the Warriors..
We all hate Cohan as an owner of this franchise…

I think we need to keep both Hunter and Tolliver somehow.
