So here is the reasoning behind the desire for this trade to happen this off-season. We have a great amount of scoring right now, between Ellis, Curry, Williams, Azubuike ( if he returns ), Morrow ( when shooting well ), even Randolph and Wright have shown the ability to produce a decent amount of points. However, someone that can guard opposing big men down low, one on one, rebound and block shots would be welcomed alongside Turiaf. I think that that man could be Emeka Okafor, and I would welcome Posey's defense and veteran leadership on this team. The salaries match up and this trade could happen straight up. Then to go along with this, on the off chance we have the opportunity to draft Turner in this years draft, I think we have a team that is built to do well.
PG ~ Steph Curry / CJ Watson
SF ~ Evan Turner / James Posey / Kelena Azubuike
PF ~ Anthony Randolph / Brandon Wright / Vladamir Radmonovic
C ~ Emeka Okafor / Ronny Turiaf / Anthony Toliver
That front line would be incredibly exciting, with Emeka holding down the fort down low, Brandon and Anthony providing weak side help, and Evan Turner / James Posey providing great defense on the wings. I think scoring would be about the same and defense / rebounding would be a major step up.
The reasons I think that New Orleans would do this would be two fold. First of all, they were best when they had an athletic, long, fast breaking center with Tyson Chandler. Andris Biedrins could provide this again for them, and at the same time develop the same great connection he had with Baron Davis with Chris Paul. Corey Maggette would provide some much needed scoring off the bench and would fit into their semi half-court offense very nicely.
Do ya'll think that this trade could have any potential this off-season, or would it even be good for the Warriors to look at this being a potential trade. Just something I was thinking about and would love to see happen. Oh not to mention over all it saves us I think around 7 million if I did the math correctly.
