RECAP: Golden State Warriors 106, Miami Heat 110 - The Warriors aka "D League All Stars" Almost Pull the Win

If Jeezy's payin LeBron, I’m paying Dwayne Wade

I'm pretty impressed that we stuck through this game as a whole.  With a team of D-Leaguers, the Warriors stood no chance against the Miami Heat?  Sure they're fighting for a playoff spot in the Leastern Conference, but we're fighting for the lotto balls.

...pretty sad if you ask me.

Star-divide

Instead of giving you a great recap about how we stuck in it with CJ's marvelous performance in the 1st and 3rd quarters, Ammo's amazing shooting night (except for his last shot), Turiaf's power dunks (except for his last one), and Reggie Williams' commendable first appearance in the NBA...I'm going to post an e-mail a friend sent to me last night.

Another Warriors "Junkie" with a "passion" to follow this team decided to write my recap for me.  I appreciate that.

E-mail_medium

Wow ... tonight the Warriors could only suit up 8 healthy players.  If you have been following the team, that is not news.  What is ridiculous is that of those 8 players only 5 were players that did not come from the D-League.  Yes... I said DID NOT COME FROM THE D-LEAGUE.  Who were those 3 players that didn't come from the D-league you ask?  Curry (rookie stud), Turiaf (crazy dude with a heart problem), and Devean George (dude who always looks constipated and was the biggest joker on the Laker dynasty squad)

This team has serious problems ... the most ridiculous part of it all was that kind of piss poor line up (including one D-leaguer who it seems just got called up today and still had to play 20 minutes - Reggie Williams ... whoever that is) is that Miami (the team with Dwayne Wade) only beat us by 4 ... lol

thought you might all enjoy that

Capt

Sigh...

At least we have another game tonight to showcase the D-League All-Stars!  On to Disneyworld we go! Big thanks to RB for the recap!

C.J. Watson.  To the man with the mohawk with his valiant defensive effort on D Wade.  Too bad it wasn't enough to stop the guy.

SO CLOSE! Also, was Morrow ever in the D-League? I thought he just went undrafted.

Close but no cigar...

…if Morrow would’ve simply pump faked with that last shot, he would’ve been WIDE OPEN!

I'm sorry, but you have to look on both sides of the court

CJ did a terrrrrrible job on defense. I know he’s playing out of position, but there is no need for him to go for the steal EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I wish Don Nelson had played a more ‘traditional’ lineup and kept Reggie Williams or Devan George on the court so that we would have 2 larger players guard Wade. Wade was absolutely destroying Watson. But oh wait, Don Nelson likes playing three guards and leaving no guards on the bench so our guards can get in foul trouble. Great coaching…

Excuse me?

You are finding fault with the coaching? Seems like whatever Nelson was doing worked just fine unless he also coached the missed 3 by Morrow and the blown dunk by Turiaf. Lot of handicaps on this team at the moment, they could have lost by 30.

At this point...

… I’ve run out of excuses. Once again, as a Warriors fan I say for the 100th time, “I’m looking forward to next year.”

See if you can find the typo

Those double negatives always get people. Just sayin’.

Trust me, learning english isn’t a waste of time. It is actually sort of useful.

That email is a little inaccurate

Only 3 players were drafted, so 5 players were undrafted. Of those 5 undrafted, 4 came from the D League (CJ Hunter Tolliver Reggie). The 5th was Morrow, a training camp sign up.

It was a good game

Cool when we win, more lottery balls when we don’t. At this point, I’m watching to see players like Curry, Morrow, and Watson develop. If the (mis)management has any brains, they won’t Morrow and Watson go without a fight.

Good first game by Williams. Let’s see how he does tonight against Orlando.

whoops

….wont let Morrow and Watson…

Wow

As Jim Barnett would say the refereeing was “dubious.”

Despite the officials best efforts the Warriors had chances to win. I feel so bad for Turiaf, that was probably his best game of the season until the last second.

And I was wondering, in that first pic of Wade dunking he’s grabbing the rim with his off hand before stuffing it through. I noticed this when it happened and thought that was offensive goaltending. Does that only apply when a player who ISN’T shooting touches the rim/net or is it yet another missed call in that game?

by WheresMyChippy on Mar 3, 2010 11:45 AM PST reply actions

My guess is that's another missed call

I don’t see why the rules would a shooting player to touch the rim or net. That would open the door for players to “bend the rim down” so that his own dunk or layup goes in.

in that first pic of Wade dunking he’s grabbing the rim with his off hand before stuffing it through.

If that’s what happened, it shouldn’t have counted. You aren’t allowed to grab the rim before dunking the ball.
