Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

WW.Net posters saying BOB Fitz said we won the toss on KNBR.

Haven't heard this anywhere else or any evidence. Hope it's true but stand by for confirmation.

We got 4th

lol… so its almost like we loss the toss against sac town.

I remember

last year Clippers lost the flip against the Wiz and got Blake Griffin.

by saint.dee on Apr 16, 2010 12:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Exactly. I mean, if we had tied with Sacramento we’d have a bunch more lottery tickets, but for post-lottery draft order, this is exactly the same as if we had tied with the Kings and lost the toss.

This makes me feel much, much better about winning the last game v. Portland.

I mean … if it’s true. Reputable link, anyone?

I’ll also note that we now get 104 John Wall lottery tickets (out of 1,001 total) to the Wizards’ 103. Who knows, that 104th one could be the winner…

Alas, no. In fact, the # 4 pick is pretty unlikely (and impossible for the #5 seed).

From that realGM site, here are the differences between the 4th and 5th seed — i.e. what we gained by winning today’s epic coin toss:

1st: 10.4% to 10.3%
2nd: 11.2% to 11.1%
3rd: 12.0% to 12.0%
4th: 9.9% to 0.0%
5th: 35.1% to 26.1%
6th: 16.0% to 36.0%
7th: 1.2% to 8.4%
8th: 0.0% to 0.4%

Overall chances at a Top 4 pick:
Warriors 47.7%
Wizards 29.1%

Overall chances at a Top 5 pick:
Warriors 82.8%
Wizards 55.2%

Nothing is guaranteed except we get a pick between 1 and 14.

Well it's guaranteed we get a pick anywhere from 1-7.

It’s basically guaranteed we’re between #1 and 6. Even our Ws aren’t unlucky enough to pluck a 1.2% worst-case scenario [knocks thrice on wood…]

Not guaranteed

We’re guaranteed a top 7 pick. The top 3 spots could be overtaken via the lottery, and then all spots after that fall into place according to your record.

I guess that’s good news, but Washington could still pop the 1,2, or 3 and jump over us. Our odds are practically the same.

*oops … that’s not right, I’m sorry. The real gm link must be a little off, since the numbers in both columns don’t add up to 100%. Give me a minute to recalculate…
