You know I used to think the Blazers had next, but unless Greg Oden can stay healthy and morph into a superstar or at least an All-Star caliber center, the Blazers are going to be locked into mediocrity for the next 3-4 years. Say hello to the 6th, 7th, or 8th seed every season Portland.

Jason Richardson for Brandan Wright? Brilliant! (sarcasm)

By the way can you believe there was a fair share of Warriors fans who weren't willing to trade Andris Biedrins and Brandan Wright for Amare Stoudemire last summer? Post All-Star break Amare has owned the association with 26.6 ppg with some incredibly gaudy percentages and 9.6 rpg.

As bad as we are we could be represnting better than OKC has.

They need a Curry type to run their offense. Westbrook is fun and athletic but as a UCLA fan I can tell you he is not a point guard.

He's not a pure PG...

but he’s putting up stats that a point guard should,8 assists.
If you say that’s not good, then Baron Davis was never a point guard.

by Cpt. Jack in the Box on Apr 18, 2010 1:43 PM PDT up reply actions

Ok so stats are everything?

Everyone is making Reke as the second coming. Go look at Monta Ellis’s stats. If stats tell all Monta is waaayyyyyyyy better than Tyreke Evans, and Westbrook. Monta’s stats bury those guys! Yet eveyrone here wants to trade Monta? We all know stats do not tell the whole story.

Monta’s stats bury those guys

No it doesn’t not. Monta plays around 41.5 minutes a game and gets 25.5 PPG. his per 36 is around what 22 ppg? And Evans is close to 20. Tyreke is a better facilitator than Monta while Monta plays more minutes and leads the league in turnovers. Russel Westbrook is one of the most athletic PG’s in the league. Any point guard who is able to get 16.5 ppg, 8.5 apg, 5 rpg per 36 is very good. His FG% is a bit low, but the Thunder would not be as good if it wasn’t for him.

Heres all I know. Lets take 3/4 of OKC's starting line up

out of the game and replace them with say 3 or 4 undrafted D leaguers and lets see how his stats look then. I guess that would be comparing apples to apples then. If Curry would have be dealing to AR, Wright, Beans, Azi, Bell etc his stats would be through the roof. It helps when you make a great pass the guy finishes with a hoop.

Evans takes 16 shots a game and gets 20 PPG, Monta takes 22 shots a game and gets 25.5 PPG. Of course Monta’s gets more points, he takes the most shots per game in the NBA

by DubsFan408 on Apr 18, 2010 2:19 PM PDT up reply actions

A strong case can be made by being forced to play more minutes

he is going to have more turnpvers, is more tired, will be less efficient and therefore experiencing what is referred to as a law of dimishing returms. Montas numbers would actually improve is he had more rest, so your argument is faulty and adjusting his stats absed on per 36 is erroneous. Just look at why they rested Kobe and what Kobe’s stats are on rest vs. playing alot fo minutes. The facts simply od not support your argument.

What are you talking about? Per 36 is pretty much an accurate estimation. I guess you and NBA/ESPN experts have different views on how to accumulate statistics?

he is going to have more turnpvers, is more tired, will be less efficient and therefore experiencing what is referred to as a law of dimishing returms

If Tyreke plays less minutes and gets more assists, what’s the big debate about? It’s pretty obvious that Evans is the better distributor,

by DubsFan408 on Apr 18, 2010 2:16 PM PDT up reply actions

Stats?

Hell just pass it to Durant for 25 ft. jumpers and you get a dime. Thats hardly like what Nash does or even a player like Rondo. I would get 8 assists passing to Durant.

Finding teammates who are open in an NBA game isn’t exactly an easy thing. You act like all of Westbrook’s assists are to Durant? Last time I checked, a lot of Durant’s points are from the FT line and when he scores he has the ball in his hands. It’s not really a debate that Westbrook can run the point because he is a PG and is capable of playing it.

by DubsFan408 on Apr 18, 2010 2:04 PM PDT up reply actions

His defense is possibly best of any PG in nba.

If they had Curry and Westbrook in the back court together, they’d be a worse team. They are built more on defense than anything.

After watching the games this weekend,

I really think the NBA is in need of the Warriors or Knicks to make the playoffs every year, because these games (aside from Nuggets game) have been low scoring and almost all of have been snoozers. Or at least the NBA could use some teams that have good home crowds, I mean most of these games seem quiet.

There probably are not too many fans outside of the cities that have teams in the playoffs that are watching, because of the boring style of basketball (although it is the winning style I guess).

But thinking back on it, the We Believe playoffs made the entire playoffs much more excitable, and I cannot wait until we get back in, and I would think the NBA feels the same way.
