Some teams get lucky in the lottery. As of today the Warriors down 10 in net gain/loss of draft picks from the lottery. Its depressing. The lineup we all envisioned of our young players plus Wall, Turner, or one of the top two big men is out the window. I can't help but feel cheated, especially after finding out the the Dubs have moved down a total of 10 draft slots overall, in the history of the draft.
Anyway, I'm trying to keep a little bit of hope. It is true that we are one slot higher than last year, where we picked up Curry. Johnson might still be available at 6, but maybe not. It doesn't seem like this is an extremely deep draft class from what I've heard, but you never really know. The draft is such a mystery its hard to know anything for sure.
Another random thought: I keep thinking about the Thunder and how everyone is so impressed by how they constructed their young team. But over the past few years they certainly haven't been in the minus as far as moving up or down in the lottery. Its easy to praise them, but they got the second pick in a draft, the third pick, the forth, and the fifth, in a span of three years. It just frustrates me that a team like them can get lucky, while we get unlucky. Are the Thunder good because of their management that very skillfully contructed their team, or because they lucked into Durant. Got a high pick in a deep draft to get Westbrook, and got a high pick in another draft to get Harden. They do have some other late first round picks that turned out well, but they aren't the core of the team. My point is that is the Warriors had been lucky enough to get the second pick a few years ago, we would be the up and coming team, not them. When will we finally start getting some luck on our side!?
