Lets start out by saying, just how un-lucky can the warriors get? They lose Jackson.. End up with so many injuries, their team was full of D-leaguers, and we lost the chance of picking up one of the top 5 projected draft picks. The only positive to this disaster season, was my boy Steph Curry.
The Warriors lose in the lottery and now are in the worst position possible. The 6th pick. One pick shy of the top 5. If the top 5 goes how its ment to.. Wall,Turner,Favors,Cousins,Johnson. The warriors now hold the weight on their shoulders, who do they feel is the best player out of the top 5? The teams choosing in the top 5, wether their player is a star or bust, they wont get shamed because thats where everyone felt those players should be picked. Now the warriors, do you choose Monroe and he ends up being Webber, or is he a push over softy. Or do you choose Aminu who ends up being a defensive stopper and in highlight reels for poster-izing his match-ups, or is he a 3rd-4th SF for the Warriors? Or do u reach for George, Aldrich, or Hayward. Its a tough decission that could be a possitive or an extreme negative.
The thing that I personally hope DOESN'T happen, is that Randolph ends up being traded. From the rumors im hearing, it seems that the Warriors want to move up in hopes of getting Cousins, but it was the T-Wolves who showed intrest and started up the talks. Now, dont you think if the T-wolves wanted Cousins, they WOULDN'T be open to trading their pick? Also one of thier biggest issues is that Jefferson and Love cant play together, No one would want Jefferson, but Love can possibly be traded. If the T-wolves feel that Jefferson cant play with Love, why add another big man to it? Incase they do trade Love, whats makes anyone feel that Jefferson could play with Cousins if he couldnt play with Love? I really feel that they will take Johnson. They need to be a more althletic team and I know that Ryan Gomes and Damien Wilkins are not the T-wolves SF's of the future, but Johnson could be. Also, the Wolves hold the 16th pick..which they could still add at big man with, possibly Whiteside, Udoh, or Orton.
Now the Warriors pick will ultimately decided by what they T-Wolves and Kings do or dont do. Who ever drops from the top 5, WILL be the warriors pick. If it goes how many feel that it should the Warriors will choose between Monroe or Aminu. If Cousins does drop, the Kings might just choose him because they dont want to pass up on his potiential, or they might pass up on him because they love Monroe or Aminu. From what i've heard the Kings really like Aminu, and from Monroe's workout, it seems that they will also like him. The Kings can take Cousins in hopes of starting him over Hawes and his defensive, or they can take Monroe in hopes of him being Chris Webber, and can be a very good back up to Landry along with a great contibuter. But I feel that the Kings will see Aminu as being a great fit with Evans, also they Kings dont have a true small forward. Imagine Evans and Aminu running the floor together and throwing up lobs or cutting to the basket. I think the Kings can possibly take Aminu or Monroe over Cousins. Also with thier 33rd pick in the draft they can still pick up a good back up big man with Jerome Jordan or Craig Brackings.
Best Case scenerio for the Warriors is that they dont trade Randolph.. and Cousins drops to us. They say that Randolph is now fully recovered and even put on some weight. With or with out the weight Randolph was easily are most physical player and plays with heart. I feel that him a Cousins would be great together and would both be very physical down low, which is what we need.. Also Curry would have the ability to play a whole season with Randolph and get him open looks along with getting him the ball while cutting to the basket. Cousins would be great running the pick and roll with Curry and will the the toughness we need down low both on the offensive and defensive side. If Cousins doesnt end up being the immature player that many say he will be, he along with Randolph and Curry can lead this Franchise to do great things. The Warriors also have the 34th pick in the Second round, in which we can use to big up a good sized SF, Maggette is our biggest right now and is only 6'6, but has a great build. We can possibly take, Devin Ebanks(if he drops), Quincy Pondexter(if he drops), Damion James(if he drops), or Stanley Robinson. Hopefully we will re-sign C.J and we wont be forced to look at the PG's in the draft, if so the Warriors can possibly pick.. Eric Bledsoe (wont drop this far), Willie Warren (not a true point gaurd), Grevis Vasquez(will probably play SF for us) or Mikhail Torrence.
The Warriors can be winners, They can pick up a legit big man, a true small forward, can come into the season healthy, and most importantly will have an all-star calliber point gaurd leading the way... I cant wait to see what happens.
