I thought I'd share this with you given the sad news today. I found this well done 25 minute segment from 2004 on Manute Bol via YouTube.
Continue reading for parts 2 and 3.

Mr. Bol played practical jokes on his teammates and spent hours after practice playing H-O-R-S-E with more talented shooters, like Chris Mullin.
That’s how Nelson decided to allow Mr. Bol to launch shots usually reserved for guards. Looking for a way to hide Bol’s lack of offensive skills, Nelson told him to stand near the three-point arc and shoot only if the shot clock was down to five seconds or less.
“He actually thought he was a good offensive player, but, of course, he wasn’t,” Nelson said. "When I told him that he could shoot three-pointers, he bought into it.
“He loved it, his teammates loved it, and the fans loved it. It was really great.”

I also recommend Beyond the Glory's documentary on him (Micharl Irvin/Michael Moorer)
I can’t find it anymore on youtube. But I do have it on my HDD, I’ll be uploading it on youtube soon.
Man, but seriously this guy was one of my favorite players growing up. One of the first games I attended was when he hit several 3’s in a game, setting his career high. All I remember was everyone going berserk for the big black guy! And from there just fell in love with his great personality, his charity work, his faith, and of course his shot blocking abilities. As an NBA fan, I look at outside work, demeanor, and personality and Manute was one of the best in these categories.
You will be missed Manute Bol, a lot of people loved you. God Bless and rest in peace my brother.
"I tell him straight, 'If you're going to lead, you have to be the first to practice. You have to come in, get your work down and be prepared for practice,' " assistant coach Keith Smart said. "He needs to figure out why he is having stomach problems and he's got to watch how LeBron (James), Kobe (Bryant) and D-Wade (Dwyane Wade) work. He needs to mimic that if he wants his teammates to speak volumes about him." -Keith Smart on Motna Ellis

help make Bol's final wish come true
his most recent goal was to raise $18k to complete construction and help operate the school named after him in his home village. sudansunrise.org has a touching article about Bol and details about this school—they are the organization he worked with extensively and are continuing to raise funds for schools in Sudan. Bol had to endure a painful and disfiguring ailment in his final months but he could truly rest in peace if his death helps bring attention and assistance to his home land.
