Post your predictions

Call your shot here.

Star-divide

D-Day is fast approaching and what better way to show conviction in your beliefs than to post your predictions for GSOM posterity. No more wishy-washy, I-think-but-don't-quote-me waffling. It's balls to the wall time, time to establish the foundation for countless "I told you so's" in the near and glorious future. So without further ado, here are the rules:

  1. Predict anything regarding the 2010 NBA draft. This can include, but is not restricted to, posting your mock draft, declaring team X acquiring player Y, forecasting movement in draft order, prognosticating future busts/steals, and so on.
  2. Be bold with your prediction. Yes, we know you're not the most qualified source. No one here is. We don't need caveats, no disclaimers... in other words, no weak stuff. Just pure, unadulterated predictions.

No-waffle_medium

No waffling.

And that's pretty much it. Happy prognosticating!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Cousins goes number 2 to the Sixers, Turner to the Timberwolves~~~

Warriors draft ALDRICH. YEAH!

Udoh is going to be a huge bust. So is Paul George.

Randolph is a garbage-point collector and Wright is probably never going to be an NBA starter, not JONeal at all.

Either Aldrich, Aminu, or Henry. Hopefully Henry because if he develops quick, like I’m sure he will, we won’t need Monta and we will be the deadliest shooting team in the league by far (Curry, Morrow, Williams, and Henry). The other 2 guys fill immediate needs, but will we look back and wish we drafted “X”? Yes we will.

Those waffles look pretty darn good though bro....

In a basically 5 player draft how fitting is it that we pick 6th. I predict we pick Udoh or some scrub thats a project. Wether we trade Biedrins/Ellis or not..we go into next year hoping BW and AR have monster breakout years in hopes of getting more wins then last season. We will still play No D and we will again keep the cellar of the league warm.

by CSalMJS on Jun 24, 2010 8:17 AM PDT reply actions

haha yeah they do

but everyone knows waffles are for the weak, while pancakes are for lumberjacks. I really really really hope we don’t draft Udoh. And as for us playing No D and being cellar-dwellers… duh. That’s not even prediction worthy, that’s the statistical norm =(

Randolph is a garbage-point collector and Wright is probably never going to be an NBA starter, not JONeal at all.

Im afraid you are right

We have to hope Sac does us a favor and drafts someone other than Cousins. If Cousins is there at 6 we have to draft him. But alas that wont happen. Most likely Im going to be on GSoM’s draft chat and Im going to laugh my a** off when Warriors draft Aldrich or some trash and 58 comments appear at the same time and they read “WTF”. Ha ha ha ha.

To be honest

I like Aldrich more than Udoh. I would really be shocked if they really think Udoh is the guy to get after Cousins is gone.

Bold Prediction

Favors falls to #6. He’s the player most likely to be a bust. Teams will pass on him.

i kinda agree with this

i don’t trust 19 year old big men. Too many cases like marvin williams, brandan wright, randolph… one has to wonder the alternative scenario that they’re leaving early because they have something to hide and can get GMs to bite strictly on the potential they represent. Out of the two 19 year old big men in Favors and Cousins, I think Favors is more likely to be a bust just cuz he’s so raw and his athletic ability is, according to Minnesota (dubious source), overrated.

Randolph is a garbage-point collector and Wright is probably never going to be an NBA starter, not JONeal at all.

Granted, a lot of big men get drafted early because teams don’t want to be the team that passes on the potential. Amare Stoudemire is a good example of a player like Favors falling.

I’ve been against the Monta for OJ trade based on talent (and I know that’s debatable). But given the recent Maggette trade (salary dump) and rumors that the Warriors are in a firesale, which I support, revisiting this trade based purely on financial reasons makes a lot of sense. You take on a couple players on their rookie contracts and shed a remaining 4/year 44M contract.

by Doctor Kajita on Jun 24, 2010 9:07 AM PDT up reply actions

Bingo

I’m not necessarily for or against the trade, but if Cohan is indeed in fire sale mode (which I can totally believe in) I think he’s inclined to take trades that bring talent back and shed long term salary. I know we turned it down before, but if things get desperate, desperate moves happen.

Agree with your previous post reasoning ... Aminu @ 3 makes the W's bigger

Hope you are right and the W’s pick Aminu (better defense / rebounding / W’s already have shooters and young 4’s w/ potential). Draft predictions, with a slight “twist” …
1. Wizards > J.Wall
2. 76ers > E.Turner
3. Nets > D.Favors
4. Wolves > W.Johnson
5. Kings > D.Cousins
6. Pistons (trade w/ W’s) > G.Monroe
7. W’s (trade w/ Pistons) > A.Aminu + one-time option to exchange 1st round draft positions w/ Pistons (top 3 protected; option duration for the next 3 yrs the Pistons have any 1st round pick)
8. Clippers > P.George
9. Jazz > G.Hayward
10. Pacers > L.Babbitt

The “twist”, as noted above, is the one-time option to exchange 1st round draft positions w/ the Pistons (top 3 protected; option must be exercised within the next 3 yrs the Pistons have any 1st round pick). Don’t know if such an option is allowed … but if allowed, I think the Pistons would give the option to ensure that they get G.Monroe … if such options are not allowed, then get a future lottery protected 1st round pick …

Can never be certain with Geoff Petrie. He always plays things close to the vest and he hates media leaks. Everything I’m hearing is that DeMarcus Cousins is the pick. What scares me is that I keep hearing it, everywhere. Very un-Kings like. I know there’s a faction that really likes Greg Monroe. If the Kings take Monroe, I wouldn’t be shocked.

Here's a novel trade idea

Monta Ellis + 6 → Indiana
Troy Murphy (2 yrs left on contract) + 11 → Golden State

We pick up Xavier Henry at 11. Next year’s lineup:

Curry
Henry
Biedrins
Randolph
Murphy

Henry can play SG or SF, giving us more versatility. So what do you guys think? Time to welcome back Murph for a couple of seasons?

by Evanz on Jun 24, 2010 10:08 AM PDT reply actions

sorry, I meant Indiana's #10

Why we do it: salary dump and pick up a guy in Henry who could make us more versatile, and improve our defense. He’s also a very good shooter.

Why Indiana does it: They pick up Monroe (who they want) and get an upgrade at guard (one who could potentially play point for them).

It's based on defensive rating

which can be swayed heavily by a player’s teammates. Guys like Turkeyglue will look like passable defensive players next to Dwight Howard. KG will look like an average defensive player if he plays with enough defensive sieves.

that’s the problem with trying to curve fit data to a formula, something has to give because players are more than numbers.
A smart formula(adaptive to the conditions) can do better but some folks just want to complicate matters by not trusting their brains to do that work. Funny how they find more credibility in a canned system than an active adaptable brain? Maybe they just wanna sell the system like it’s a veggiematic on late nigh tv? and there is no profit in telling people to use their eyes and their brain.

Biedrins and Pick #6 Traded for #3 Pick from Nets

Warriors trade Biedrins and switch picks with the Nets. The Nets will be happy because they will still have a shot at Favors or Cousins and they will have added depth at center with Biedrins.

Warriors get the player that they want for the future in Wesley Johnson.

The Warriors could sign another free agent center in free agency after this trade.

why would they take on a big contract like Biedrins? If they want Favors or Cousins, they can have him at #3 without doing anything. They won’t have a shot at Favors or Cousins at #6, just like we won’t.

Warriors have nothing that the Nets need or want.

All I know is that if we draft Udoh, I'm going into a 1pm exam (it's 7:30 in Australia right now) off my face.

So if we get Cousins, you won’t be off your face?

There will be no extra point!

I'll take a stab

1. John Wall
2. Evan Turner
3. Derrick Favors
4. Minnesota trades #4 pick + Ramon Sessions (plus filler if necessary) to Detroit for #7 and Tayshaun Prince. Detroit selects DeMarcus Cousins.
5. Greg Monroe
6. Warriors select Wesley Johnson
7. Minnesota (from Detroit) selects Al-Farouq Aminu
8. Ed Davis
9. Ekpe Udoh
10. Gordon Hayward

THERE WILL BE NO TRADES...

… except for #6, Monta and AR for…… Dikembe Mutumbo’s knees.

Lol, that wouldn’t be the worst move the warriors have ever made…

Warriors.

Predictions,

1. Wiz – John Wall
2. 76ers – Evan Turner
3. Nets – Cousins
4. Wolves – Derrick Favors
5. Kings – Greg Monroe
6. Warriors – Wes Johnson ( anything other than him, aminu, or Monroe would be bad.)

Not going to post a mock.

But:

Udoh = Smoke to the Screen
Aminu = Double down on the smoke screen

Actual Targets:

Wesley Johnson and Greg Monroe (If Johnson isn’t there).

"I thought it was going in," Warriors center Chris Hunter said. "It looked like the invisible man tipped it away at the last second."

Turner drops down to Warriors, all I’m gonna say.

Is this a trick question?

The 6’7" guy who can rebound like a small forward and pass like a point guard and will make about $3M a year, or the 6’3" guy with stubby arms who rebounds like a point guard and passes like a small forward and makes $11M?

There will be no extra point!

till we see the quality of turner’s tats and moped?

Lights please, lights please, turn off the lights.
