Yahoo Sports recently posted an article citing the Warriors Draft pick and their surplus of power forwards: Brandan Wright, Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf, and now Ekpe Udoh. This brings up the idea of trading away some talent to make some room at the position and get some talent in return. In this article Larry Riiey is quoted saying, "We have two more contracts of a sizable nature." He is explaining his caution to trade for larger contracts.
Are you kidding me?
The Warriors have some of the most devoted fans in the league and so I always felt like they shouldn't have the same financial troubles of several other teams. Our now highest paid player is Monta Ellis who was 6th in the league in scoring last year and is being paid 11 million a year! That's a bargain! And Biedrins is being paid 9 million a year! His last full season he averaged a double-double! Our two biggest contracts are bargains! Why can't we afford to invest in another significant contract? Have you seen how much Championship contenders spend? About 15-20 million MORE than we do! I just find it so stupid for an organization with more support than they deserve to be so hesitant about investing in talent!
I am just so frustrated with this management. I feel like they only have two goals: 1. Build a team that is fun to watch. 2. Build a team that isn't too expensive.
They don't care about a championship!
It's so dumb! This stuff is what makes me want to become a Mavericks fan. At least they know their owner is doing everything he possibly can.
I'm starting to think the Warriors will never have a chance of contending for a title until there is a significant change in ownership and management.
