Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

Warriors GM Larry Riley said on Monday that the Warriors will make qualifying offers to Anthony Morrow and C.J. Watson but will not extend one to center Chris Hunter. As for Anthony Tolliver, he’s not getting one, either.

Smart...

Gadzuric & Udoh takes up the production Chris Hunter gave while Tolliver was an undersized PF that probably wouldn’t even be in the rotation of an average NBA roster so I say it was a good move that will benefit the development of Randolph & Wright.

too bad for Tolliver

I liked him but I suppose the writing was on the wall after this draft.

Within reason.

3 years at 3 mil a piece sounds fair. I think he’d stay if that was the offer.

Hire Tolliver

as our GM.

Sigh. Predictable given the state of our roster, but sad nonetheless. Both seemed like down-to-earth, hardworking dudes with bit of personality and flair to boot. Godspeed Tolly and Chris!

There will be no extra point!

No.Just no. Stone hand Tolliver who can’t finish shots?

by saint.dee on Jun 28, 2010 12:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Tolliver is a very accomplished and smart player. He just got cut because you need more versatile players if you want to run.

No.Just no.

Uh … no to what? “Godspeed”? Would you prefer I said “good riddance?” They’re both gone either way — what’s the harm in showing a little love?

Din't Tolly put up 31 points

to secure Nellie’s record? and this is how he thanks him? and what about hunter bailing nellie out when nellie din’t know enough to stock a full bench? If he’d known he just get cut he coulda sat there with his sore leg and said helll no I won’t go :>)

Ekpe can finish round the basket

I can’t come close to counting all the missed layups Hunter/Tolli missed off Currys perfect passes … With our big three PF’s (AR, BW, EU), Curry should be dimin’ all dayy

"Ekpe can finish round the basket"

technically, that’s yet to be proven in the NBA. remember. guys like Ben Wallace (in 29.1 min) averaged 13.4 pts & finished well in his 2 years of college. Hunter & Tolliver may have been good finishers in college as well. i’m expecting a poor man’s Joe Smith (btw pretty surprising to see Joe Smith almost blocked as many shots per minute as Udoh – don’t remember Joe being much of a shot blocker, though i was like in elementary school at the time).

BTW

I’m glad we’re offering CJ another deal, he’s a perfect backup for Steph imo.

I think ChrisPaul would be a better one?

Sure,

Riley will get right on it.

I like Morrow a lot ...

But I’d still love to see and sign and trade for Rudy Fernandez. Rudy would mesh real well with Steph. Also it seems like Portland wants to add some 3-point specialists now and Rudy wants out. What do ya’ll think?

The thing that concerns me most about Ferdudy

is that he weighs as much as a point guard.

Yeah

I think its a no brainer Morrow will be back with the way he’s been around the Warriors HQ and all. I like C.J at the backup PG. Tolliver did well this year but we need room for Randolph, Wright and even Udoh

It makes no sense having Bell and CJ as backup pg’s. Let CJ go and save that money to sign a real SF.

by J-RIDAH on Jun 28, 2010 6:38 PM PDT up reply actions

I don’t think Bell plays point

Warriors.

by jonathannn on Jun 29, 2010 1:55 PM PDT up reply actions

He's 6'3

He’s a combo guard .. Pretty much a bigger version of CJ.

Actually, I know nothing about this Bell dude lmao.

Yeah ,If we’d drafted PaulGeorge we coulda kept Tolly and also enjoyed watching a great SF develop?

Morrow isn’t multi-faceted enough IMO. He’s a lights out shooter and is an adequate rebounder for his size but brings nothing else. Doesn’t handle the ball well enough for a guard. Doesn’t drive to the bucket to draw fouls. Doesn’t play D. Watson doesn’t show the court vision to be a back-up PG and resembles a matador on defense. Tolliver’s not athletic / explosive enough to throw down one of Curry’s alley oop passes. As for Hunter . . . Ugh. Enough said.

remember back in the day when sam jacobsen made 5 three's in 1 game

and we were so talent-hungry we couldn’t believe such a talent had fallen into our laps.

We’ve sure come a long way since then. Kinda. I guess Morrow is just a better version of Jacobson. Man it sucks that we have to even make comparisons like this

Randolph is a garbage-point collector and Wright is probably never going to be an NBA starter, not JONeal at all.

Not really seeing the comparison. Morrow has drained 226 threes through two NBA seasons, to the lovely tune of 46%. Jacobson in his brief NBA career made nine threes total in 25 attempts (36%). Morrow’s also a much better rebounder (4.7 to 3.8 per 36), and commits fouls at less than half the rate Jacobson did (2.9 to 6.4 per 36). Basically Morrow’s a legit NBA rotation player, where Sam wasn’t.

Indeed.

haha still

it was like OMG WE HAVE SOMEONE WHO CAN MAKE JUMPERS. and i don’t think it was five three’s, maybe it was more like 5 jumpers, whatever. It was so amazing back then relative to the dearth of talent we had, back when jason caffey was our “elevation sensation” lol
