RUMOR: Denver Nuggets trying to pry Andris Biedrins from Golden State Warriors
I'm going to miss these free throws!
Free Agency 2010 is upon us! Didn't think we'd be players in this game?
WRONG!
Turns out there are "rumblings" about the Denver Nuggets trying to pull Andris away from us in this tumultuous Warrior time. Don't believe me? Check out this Fanshot I posted this morning.
Couldn't quite believe our FO would be willing to part with Biedrins at this point. Let's be real - we offered him a huge contract 2 years ago and his value has since declined. He had a terrible last year and the year before so why trade him now? What kind of value could we possibly get?
Well, I spent my whole morning watching Twitter feeds from sports journalists, newscasters, and players...and I found what the trade was going to be. Check the jump for the deets
Just in case you can't see the image...
Warriors are going to get:
- Carmelo Anthony
- Chauncey Billups
Nuggets are going to get
Honestly, I don't know about this trade...we're getting Melo (Stephen Jackson Part 2) and a over-used out-of-his-prime PG for our 2 best players and our newly acquired Center. Doesn't seem to make sense to me...but hey, I'm just relaying what I've been seeing.
I'll keep things updated as it all progresses...but you might seeing bye bye to both Monta and Beans.
99% of rumors don't come true, but 99% of them are fun to talk about!
P.S. This a huge joke - I'm pretty sure the Nuggets aren't going to trade us Melo and Billups. I kinda made that up.

I was gonna say
that’s a joke.
But this whole Kenyon Martin deal is interesting. He may be hurt, but he may bring some tenacity to our frontcourt. Either way, we save at least 20 mil over the long run. We’d only have Ellis as a long contract AND we’d still have a young promising roster with Curry/Randolph/Morrow/Wright/Udoh/etc. This franchise would have gone from a contractual mess to a clean slate in a matter of months!!
Ah yes trading young players for cap space to waste on contracts like Maggette's because real free agents dont come here.
WIth that attitude you could certainly work for our front office.

Monta Ellis deal
i think a trade for Ellis would be ideal for both the kings and Warriors. Warriors trade Ellis to the Kings for Jason Thompson and either Garcia or Beno + a 2nd rd pick.
by localninerfan on Jul 2, 2010 5:22 PM PDT up reply actions
But this whole Kenyon Martin deal is interesting.
Kenyon martin and JR smith would make next year a black hole. Everyone would just hafta go away and come back after their contracts expired.

they wouldn't overshadow anything Curry/Monta/Randolph do on this team
they are minor, plus I don’t think J.R. Smith would be a part of the deal

but they also wouldn’t help us have a great season so I’d probably take a vacation from the warriors games for a year if I had to watch Martin get hurt and Smith be a team cancer.

Or, it's probably go like this:
Smith won’t be in the deal and Martin will be hurt all year. That’s a fine scenario. So we lose Biedrins; we also lose his long contract.
Then we get to spend the whole season watching Curry/Ellis/Randolph/Wright/Udoh/Morrow/Williams/Turiaf gel into a team.
If you want to take the year off, cool. I’ll be here watching that team grow.

Hey I'm a Nuggets fan I just wanted to know you opinion on something like:
Kenyon for Biedrins and Gadzuric or Radmonovic…
it doesn’t make complete sense for both sides, but I see the advantages for either team.
so is that a fair trade?
I don’t know about the other guys, but I’d take it.

At first I thought it wasn't
and really it’s hard to tell after Biedrins’ last season. But I’ll bet the Warriors are very intrigued because of the financial implications and the drafting of Udoh.
They’d probably prefer to send Radmanovic rather than Gadzuric because they don’t want to send two C’s.
by eastbayglory on Jul 1, 2010 10:14 AM PDT up reply actions
No
We need value for Biedrins, NOT an expiring. At this point Warriors have no real ability to bring free agents, so cap space is worthless. For the record, I’m not opposed to trading Biedrins but I just see no point now because I doubt we’d get value.
Adding to my point.
I don’t see anything Denver would be willing to trade that we want. I assume Melo is off the table, Ty Lawson is your only intriguing younger player and he plays same position as Curry
It depends on how you evaluate Biedrins
and we really don’t know to which form he will return next season.
Martin could bring some defensive toughness (and a little baggage of course). It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Martin has a better year than Biedrins next year. He did last year, averaging 11.5 points and 9.5 boards, with some steals and blocks.
So since they’re close in terms of what they’ll bring next year, it’s a question of youth vs. money, and on this already young team, I’ll take the salary relief and a re-try with that money next free-agent period.
by eastbayglory on Jul 1, 2010 10:35 AM PDT up reply actions
I think this point needs to be made on K-Mart
Martins is a worse version of Stephen Jackson. You know how upset he will be going to a non-contender? He will be cancerous to this team.
I’ll take the salary relief and a re-try with that money next free-agent period.
I will say this much. If we can get Marc Gasol, I’d dump beans in a second to make a run as Gasol in summer 2011. Perhaps under new ownership who can clean up the image of GSW (which let’s be fair is worst in NBA) it’s a possibility
Won't Gasol be restricted?
I wouldn’t be surprised in the Grizzlies matched some ridiculous offer. They did just offer gay $16 M a year average.

Seems that the new pattern for 2nd round Euro guys who have proven they are good in Europe
Is to try to get a deal in the three year range and as close to the MLE as they can (Gasol $3 million a year, the guy the TWolves are bringing in is about $4.3 million a year thanks in large part to the success of Gasol). After those three years they are unrestricted and can go where they want BUT the team that brought them over has their Bird Rights because they were under contract for three years.

Andris + Radman for Martin, then Ellis to NY for Curry's contract.
And they can consider things properly blowed up.

I just don't think dumping Ellis is the best use of his value
Ellis is still a great player, not the best fit, and most desirably a player that we trade this off-season, but we can’t just dump him.

I'm kind of with you on this...
If we can get value, get value. I’d love a monta + something for iguodala trade, but Phili doesn’t seem so interested.
And i don’t think Curry + Monta is ever going to be a championship contending backcourt…. but lets deal with that when they make playoffs and peak out first.
Hmmm
It’s hard to say. Right now he’s seen as an overrated inefficient, ball hog. I think if he goes down to 19-20 ppg more efficiently, he’ll be much more desired.
You could say that about anyone. What if Curry tears his acl?
He’s proven in past to be much more efficient on a certain shot volume. I think the .580 TS% year was probably more of a career high than what shoudl be expected.
Keeping him more on 14 to 15 or so shots per game instead of the 18-20 per 36 he’s done last 2 years and taking ball out of his hands should make him much more effective. Cut down turn overs, make more baskets etc.
Ellis is still a great player
Calling Ellis a “great player” cheapens the word “great.” A couple of years ago, Ellis was a rather good player, well above average and an offensive weapon. Last year he was a prolific scorer, but not in such a way that it helps win games. Good? At times. At times even better than just good. But not great. Definitely not great.
within the context of this roster and franchise
he’s a great player. But no, he’s not on the list of great players in the game today.
Nevertheless, he’s good enough of a player for the Warriors to require value back in any trade. In my opinion.
What would be equal value back for Ellis?
Because talent? You want to add a guy like boozer because hes talented? I’m sorry i just don’t see that as a valid reason. -- fffindeed
in my opinion
Rudy Gay, Kevin Martin, and Monte Ellis are all about comporable value. The big man equivalent would be somewhere between Carl Landry and David Lee.

Value?
Kind of hard to say after the last couple years. He could definitely be valuable as a complementary piece to a team that needs someone who can put up points and get out on the break, but will he resign himself to a role like that again?
I’d probably trade him for anyone on that list of yours, with the exception of Rudy Gay and his new ridiculous contract.

Umm..
Do you think any player can lead a team to victory while the team is dead last in rebounding and defense? We lose because our “team” sucks. Our team defense and team rebounding is horrible. Not because Ellis isn’t a great player.
These things aren't mutually exclusive.
Ellis isn’t a great player. He misses too many shots and turns the ball over too much to be a great player.
If we were a better defensive and rebounding team (both problems Monta contributes to, incidentally) then Monta’s offense would STILL be holding us back.
He misses too many shots and turns the ball over too much to be a great player.

What if Biedrins just had an off year last season due to the injury? What if he’s still a double double machine? And he has great hands and knows how to finish! He and Steph would work well together after building some chemistry! And he’s still young! Are we willing to possibly give that up for an injured veteran? The only logical reason to make that trade is for the skrilla but talent-wise, I don’t see it.

Carmelo or Billups for Biedrins would be a steal! Crazy notion and don’t believe that would happen unfortunately. But I think that a trade for Martin would be plain horrible. Beidrins salary isn't really a problem.
It’s a long contract, and I can see how a team might want more flexibility, but $9m/yr, not escalating … is actually pretty reasonable assuming he returns to form.
Given how overpaid centers tend to be if they have any skills at all. eg, Kenyon Martin is making $16m this year. Okfaor $11.5m. Bynum $13.8m.
To spend less than that you’re likely to end up with someone like Jeff Foster or Turiaf. There are a couple of reasonable centers who make less than he does (David Lee, Nazr Mohammed, Joel Pryzbilla) but below Biedrin’s salary it’s a lot easier to find guys who are worse than him than it is to find guys who are better (assuming he returns to form after recovering form injury).
This is entirely unlike the Maggette contract (where it seems reasonable to replace his production at a lesser cost, especially towards the end of the contract). Trading Beans is going to make the team worse, and not free up money that can be used to find a better replacement.

MONTA!!
I still see a lot of promise in MONTA!!! If we can get the rights vets on this court to tell him to stop being a ball hog. If we can get billups without shipping monta (I know never happening) then I would be happy even if Billups is injured because at least he would be telling monta and curry what NEEDS to happen to be a winning team. That would give a lot of pt to them.. But if hes not injured then hey Im all for the small lineup. ;)
by goaldenstateboy on Jul 1, 2010 10:45 AM PDT reply actions
He doesn’t need to be told to not be a ball hog. He just needs a lineup that isn’t hobbled together D-Leaguers to just fill out enough to not forfeit the game, and then a bench so he doesnt have to play 48 minutes a night. Has a trusted ball handler now in Curry, so he’ll be playing his normal 2 role and won’t be handling nearly as much or expected to go in and create his own offense like last year (which was just a result of all the injuries and the staff feeling out Curry before the end of the year when he had a defined 1 role). Ellis and his game in normal circumstances is not a ball hog, high volume shooter.

K MART
If this is the deal it will be K Marts HUGE expiring which is somehow covered by insurance for Beans and pieces. Great Trade. BURN THE FORREST DOWN
No one seems to actually listen
We will not be trading Monta or Beans unless we get equal value in return. This team is being sold and just as Matt Steinmentz has stated the assets of this team are its players and giving our best players away is not going to be acceptable to new ownership. Not saying a trade is not possible. It will not be done to strip this team of its talent. The Maggette deal was done for a reason and was gonna happen regardless of the sale. Any major future deals will not happen just for the sake of dumping salary. We will get talent back. Now Monta and Beans for Carmelo? This is a strong possiblity. The news is that Denver will definitly trade him if he does not sign his 3 year $65M deal. But Beans for a malcontent and broken down KMart will NOT happen.

"equal value" according to the Warriors front office
Based on their “value” judgements on Corey Maggette, Mike Dunleavy, Adonal Foyle, and thousands of other overpaid warriors throughout the years, I’m not that trusting
One of the few things I agreed with Bill Simmons on in his book is the fact that ex players as GMs pay waaay too much money to players
Often they are good at scouting talent and making the right call on draft night but, without any background in contracts negotiations, they get hammered every time by the agents with their J.D. degrees and business expertise.

He was good at drafting players
but yeah not so good with contract negotiations. I still remember his arguement over the Troy Murphy signing being something along the lines of “Well if becomes one of the top 15 PFs in the league this is a very fair deal.”

No he wasn't
He became GM in spring 2004
2004- Biedrins/Monta (great)
2005- Diogu (over Granger)
2006- POB (over anything)
2007- Belinelli
2008- Randolph (not sold)
Average drafter. There are worse, but he gets more credit than he deserves, especially with two big top 10 flops
I just feel bad for Riley
Cause we haven’t seen what he can (or can’t) do. Mullin got a blank check book and massively overpaid Dunleavey, Murphy, Adonal and Derek Fisher. Oh and possibly Maggette?
to be honest I thought he was the GM before 2004. I was attributing the Troy Murphy, JRich, Gillbert, Pietrus picks to him as well
I wouldn’t blast the guy for the AR pick, that would have been a tough call to say no on.
Belinelli was awful
It’s hard for me to blast him for the Diogu one because there was a great deal of concern over Granger’s knees (still is) but at the same time …. damn Granger was pretty darn good in college.

Diogu was an obvious stiff though. By the way, Bynum was picked AFTER Diogu too.
Saint Jean was GM 1998-2004 and he did have good picks, but also some awful misses like drafting Vince Carter and trading him for Antawn Jamison and generally passing on Dirk (a Nellie find), and Paul Peirce. And of course the 2002 fiasco of Dunleavey
Bynum wasn't exactly a sure thing either though (and still isn't)

Depends
Do I care about luxury tax? If I am Lakers and i don’t care about luxury tax I pay him. Talented, skilled 7 footers are RARE. He may be injury prone but on any other team he’s near a 20/10 guy. On Lakers he doesn’t get the touches, and while he also benefits from less attention, I have no doubt of the talent.
Now here is a random Q: If you were the lakers would you trade Bynum for Okafor and Collison? They want to get out of Okafor’s long deal. With Gasol and Odom they don’t necessarily need more offense in post, and Collison would sure up a huge position of need.
At one point
I calculated his stats when Lamar Odom started alongside him instead of Pau. It was only a 16 game sample, but he was getting at least 10 RPG and very nearly 20 PPG, if not actually 20 PPG.

When Bynum was picked, people knew he was going to be good ...
… and they also knew that it was going to take several years before he really delivered.
Obviously, any time there’s a delay before a guy starts delivering there’s lots that can go wrong. But Bynum wasn’t a particularly high-risk pick.
Heck, the riskiest part of the pick was the message it sent to Kobe. “We’re not focused on winning right now. It’s going to be a couple of years.”
Mullin made some big mistakes as a GM, but he did one really smart thing ...
He signed Biedrins and Monta to non-escalating contracts.
That was cutting edge and very, very smart. Most GMs still don’t do it, even though it’s STILL smart.
Those weren't Larry Riley moves
I don’t think it’s fair to hold him hostage for Mullin’s mistakes
I don’t know if I can believe the Nuggets would trade Anthony for any Warrior ever not named Chamberlain, but I totally agree with your point about the significance of the sale.
Beans + anything for Martin only makes sense if Cohan were keeping the team, and just wanted to cut costs.

what about
beans and monta for nene and JR smith?? NENE would be a big upgrade at the center spot and we still have azubuike who can play the 2. And JR smith would be good off the bench for us in our system.
that's actually pretty interesting
Nene would be perfect for the GS frontcourt. But I’d still like to get more back.
Maybe if they threw in a 1st or Ty Lawson

They dont want to give up Nene
He’s better than Biedrins
the whole point of getting Biens is to shore up their front line
Why would they get rid of their best front line player in the process of shoring up the front line
Because talent? You want to add a guy like boozer because hes talented? I’m sorry i just don’t see that as a valid reason. -- fffindeed

Nene is too likely to get injured. More so than Biedrins.
JR can get get hot, nice 6th man, but I just don’t see that trade having a serious affect on out squad. At best it’s a wash.
Denver however would suddenly be one of the top teams in the league
Billups
Ellis
Melo
Biedrins
and whoever they have at PF would be scary.
by myk on Jul 1, 2010 3:16 PM PDT up reply actions
Realistic Trade
The Nuggets seem to be more interested in shoring up their frontcourt than backcourt (Billups + Afflalo), so it could look something like:
Biedrins, Randolph, Azubuike, Morrow or Turiaf for Carmelo
I’m unclear what Denver exactly wants, and I’m not sure how it works with Morrow’s contract. I suspect they would want Morrow more than Turiaf, but you never know. I don’t think they’re too interested in Monta, so it might take a Beans deal to make a Melo deal happen.
I don’t mind any combination that doesn’t involve Curry for Carmelo. If you have a chance to trade for a top 10 player, you pull the trigger even if it involves many of your good young players.
"I never watched baseball on TV. It's slow and boring. I'm not a fan. Never was." - Jeff Kent
FREE POSEY IS FREE
not if it also involves a player leaving after 1 year, cuz that’s what would happen. No way Riley agrees to that.
Let's hope the new owner will be much more aggressive
And confident they can get Melo to stay after one year.
I'd rather use beans to go after that "veteran SF"...
that Riley’s been talking about.
I wish the Warriors would target Caron Butler.
The experiment last year broke down in the Playoffs, Haywood is going elsewhere, and it looks like they’re trying to get rid of Damp. I think if we packaged Beans w/ someone we could make a play to get him off their hands. Maybe Reggie?
Now I just heard that he's actually on the table for the Mavs....
Who are looking to take a larger contract while including Damps un-gauranteed contract. Seems like they’re looking at swimming w/ the big fish and get a top tier FA.
Underhand
Biedrins needs to improve on his free throws. Even if he was still hurting at the end of last season you could see him backing away from attacking the rim for fear that he would have to embarress himself on the F/T line. Year before he was a double/double man and a budding star, but last year injuries and lack of confidence cost him. The Warriors have such a strange mix of big men that nothing they do this off season will surprise me.
Wow. 66% of you want to trade our super-efficient and productive 24 year-old center, at the absolute nadir of his value, coming off a season in which he was never close to healthy?
If we had lucked into Cousins, I could see it, but who’s our center when Biedrins leaves? Does no one remember the succession of total losers that attempted to play in the pivot here before the advent of AB?
I mean, Joe freaking Johnson is about to get his grubby little paws on something like 6/$120M for his decline years. In this market, 4 years /$36M for the age 24-27 years of one of the ten best rebounders in the league hardly seems unreasonable.

Blasphemy Trade
Does anyone even remember what a reliable center is worth in this league? Even an attitude-challenged kid like Cousins with weight issues couldn’t get to us pass the 5th in the draft. Portland passed on the likes of MJ and Durant to draft their center of the future in Bowie and Oden. Granted, these weren’t the smartest moves but considering how Biedrins is a true 7 footer who happened to be a double-double machine 2 seasons ago to go with 1.5+ blocks, I’m surprised many fans would even considered this deal.
To say that Kenyon Martin will provide that veteran leadership to Randolph and Wright is just laughable. You’re forgetting that this is the same prick who alienated Alonzo Mourning when he made a mockery out of Zo’s life threatening kidney disease back when they were in New Jersey. K-Mart and JR are equally immature even though they don’t say things that make themselves look like asses in public.
So for those who agree to trading Biedrins for our 10th power forward, I’m assuming you guys would be happy with benchwarmer Dan Gadzuric as our starting center. Maybe we should start Ronny Turiaf or Kenyon as our center as if we don’t have a small enough starting lineup already. Just because Andres nickname is Beans doesn’t mean we should trade him for beans.

a 16.5 million dollar expiring contract is hardly beans
it’s actually a tremendous asset. I like Biedrins too, but the front office has to determine whether he’ll return to form or not. It’s a tough one. Should he not, he’ll be unmovable. Trade him now, especially with a logjam at the post positions, and you know you’re saving money while giving Udoh, Randolph, and Wright the opportunity to get more minutes. Sure, you lose your true center, but you shed a player with limited offensive post skills. Udoh now fills that defensive, rebounding and blocking role, perhaps eventually in a better manner than Biedrins. Then with the money saved, the Warriors might be able to finally sign the scoring post presence they’ve desperately needed forever.
Remember
next summer we have a lot of money coming off the books, moving Bieds would give us a ton of money to use. In the past, having a ton of money wouldn’t matter because of our owner. But next summer we’ll be one year deep into the Ellison regime, and we’ll be a pretty desirable place to land (I hope)
But what free agents are there next summer?

Some options
Yao Ming and Zach Randolph are unrestricted
Al Horford, Marc Gasol, Joakim Noah, and Greg Oden are restricted
hahahahahahah!
Zach Randolph?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
Ahem – excuse me. Anyway, hedging their bets that a player they covet will sign with them next year would be incredibly stupid. Watch how this free-agency period plays out. There are going to be some teams ruined by salary dumping next year.

Well, Bieds returning to form is the question. Should he not return to his prior form, he’ll be unmovable.

We have no center on our team, Biedrins is the closest thing we have. Why would we make a salary dump?
NO GREAT FREE AGENTS COME HERE!!!!
We would end up signing Mike Miller for Biedirns’ money. We would still have no center, but we’d have a top 10 pick next year!!!!! Woo-hoo!!!!
Here’s to hoping Larry Riley isn’t as stupid as the people on this blog
It's understandable that the let off after the 07-08 season would make us desperate for change
but lets try and use some logic before we dump Biedrins so we can make another Maggette signing. Martin would play half the year, at PF which would make AR or BWright a center?
Sounds really stupid
Why don’t we see what this team has before we make a fire sale?
by myk on Jul 1, 2010 2:33 PM PDT up reply actions
ethier way ab is a injury prone center we need to get rid of
hopefully for a sf
1 season with a nagging sports hernia injury doesn't warrant that label
He has been quite healthy in his career, if he misses 30+ games this season then that label starts to earn some merit
by myk on Jul 1, 2010 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions
Are You Serious?
If you give up on Biedrins after one season then Portland might as well give up on Oden for consistently missing at least half the season for the past 3 years. I think it is overstated that we need a small forward when we still have Azubuike, Morrow, and Randolph while Biedrins is the only true 7 footer we have. In terms of position, center is almost equally as important as point guard and you want to trade a reliable one for some random small forward? You can make the argument if we get back a quality SF for Biedrins but we’re not going to get a top rated SF like an Iguodala or a Gay for him so why even bother?
I’d say the Warriors should keep their current players and let them play together for another season under a new coach not name Nelson. Let the new ownership management evaluate the team’s strength and weakness next season and then make trades based on that evaluation. The current ownership should have no authority moving important pieces like Monta, Biedrins, or Randolph when they won’t be around next year to have a vested interest in them. In fact, the NBA should have a rule in place to prevent greedy owners like Cohan from cashing out on firesale trades and leaving the team in limbo for the next few seasons.

Another trade idea for the heck of it
It doesn’t work on the trade machine because they didn’t update it. The BYC on Granger contract expired today. So we get Granger, the Pacers get Lawson, Wright, and Gadzuric, and the Nuggets get Biedrins. I think that’s a pretty fair deal. We get a guy we could really use, the Pacers get a point guard, power forward, and an expiring contract for next year, who have a boat load of money coming off the books next year. I think they would be close to 45 million off the boooks, and that doesn’t include guys that they will probably keep. The Nuggets get Biedrins, who they want, and only have to give up Lawson, who is good, but has not done much so far.
Okay I think I have it
instead of Gadzuric to the Pacers, they get J.R. Smith, and we send Reggie to the Nuggets. It would work in real life because I replaced Granger with Murphy, who makes a similar amount, to see if it works and it does.

AB is 24 and has a reasonable(awesome if he comes back as we know him )contract playing a position where you can consider yourself very very lucky if you have a player like him for that money. I agree last season was not good but as we all know he played injured(or not 100 % at least). If anything there is no need to rush. We are allready at a fresh start(considering we have like 15 mil. $ of expiring contracts) and now if we trade we trade to improve not to even more weaken this allready weak team. Look at the contracts offered to second/third tier players. Everybody is going mad right now and we don’t have to panic since we are not a top player in this Lebron saga and stuff. But if a chance to land a very good players arise I’m all for it bu Kenyon Martin for AB just isn’t it. If it was Melo then we should listen. Other then him(maybe Nene) no thx.

…who will be DEN’s starting SF as you traded away all of their wing players?
….why do we throw away majority of projected starting lineup for Melo & two guys who have had knee issues in the past?
…why do MIN get over the value for Al Jefferson?

The only way this rumor happens is if _Linas Kleiza_ gets involved in a sign and trade
Beans’ contract isn’t that bad when compared to other average to below average starting centers. Plus he is still young and people have been saying/hoping he can improve and become a legit starting center(like that one year), so he will continue to have suitors.

Yes if Melo is involved.
We shouldn’t pas up the chance to pair Curry with Melo. You can build a great team around those two.
We’ll need to convince Melo to stay. A new dynamic ownership group should be able to do that.
He had a terrible last year and the year before so why trade him now?
IS THAT A JOKE???
I’ll give you last year, he was injured and played poorly, but the year before too? WHAT???
12 (58%FG) and 11 with a 1:1 ast/to ratio is terrible???
Again.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
i would take melo in a trade.
if we could get brandan “bust” wright outta here, it would be good. and maybe get nene in return too.
new trade
it would make more sense if we trade andris biedrins, monte ellis, and dan gadzuric for Carmelo Anthony and Nene Hilario..We would get a star and a good center
Nuggets fan here
First off, melo is signing an extension, and the only way the warriors could even think about getting melo would be a curry, randolph, beans, udoh, picks for melo, andersen. basically leveraging your whole future for a top 8 player. not smart on the warriors part, and the nuggets would be shitty for a couple years until curry blossoms.
Seccond, you guys are the most impatient fanbase ever. take a page out of OKCs book. rebuild through the draft, dont sign big ticket, or overpriced semi big ticket FAs (magette, amar’e, boozer, gooden). Get a new coach, trade monta for picks and prospects and wait. patience, people. Take it from someone who wishes the nugs drafted around melo, rather then go the FA route with andre miller and kenyon martin.
Third, stop overvaluing your players. everyone does this naturally but you guys really have to keep your shiz in check. Ever heard of looting in a riot? its no secret that teams treat warriors games as a one day vacation and go 50%.
A fair trade, and one I that would be in favor of would be:
Warriors send:
Beans, Wright, Azubuike
Nuggets send:
Kenyon martin, 2nd round pick from clippers
What this gives each team:
Warriors get relief now, if Kenyon Martin is injured the whole season warriors only have to pay him 2.5mil (insurance)
Nuggets get a player who is MORE injury prone then Kmart (quite the feat) but essentially a 24yo, 6’11" version of kmart with less perimeter defensive skills. they also get wright who is good, not great, has a lot of potential, and Azubuike who isnt really wanted by anyone
