Interesting.... so who would we go after as a back up point guard then?

Set a record by getting banned for the 8th time!
After rehab I saw the light and promise to be kinder and gentler!
Probation is a very slippery slope!

The most they are giving up our...

a draft pick, another trade exception, or a young player they can afford to give up like James Johnson because Noah/Rose are untouchable. I also don’t see Taj Gibson going anywhere as he’s a great spark off the bench

by iHypeTV on Jul 19, 2010 5:58 PM PDT reply actions

I think we can...

because their picks will be later as they will most likely have a better record with the additions they’ve made this summer

by iHypeTV on Jul 19, 2010 6:10 PM PDT up reply actions

highly doubtful

Hopefully 3 way trade that involves Pacers

Luol Deng to Pacers, CJ + Radman and draft pick and cash to Bulls, Granger to the Bay. What a dream!

Yeah...

IND:

C-Hibbert
PF- Murphy
SF-Deng
SG-Rush
PG-Ford

CHI:
C-Noah
PF-Boozer
SF-Korver
SG-Brewer
PG-Rose

GSW:
C-Biedrins
PF-Lee
SF-Granger
SG-Ellis
PG-Curry

I think we would definitely be the best of those three teams haha…

by iHypeTV on Jul 19, 2010 6:09 PM PDT up reply actions

what do you think these guys are worth?

I won’t be shocked to see a 2nd round pick involved, maybe also a scrub role player but that will likely be about it

What do you think back up d leaguers are worth?

CJ should bring us another $3M in TPE for a future trade. We can then balance the trade and take on a larger salary and a better player withthe TPE’s. If we give up CJ it will lead us to a bigger better move and a bigger better player.

by StinkyFingers on Jul 19, 2010 6:27 PM PDT up reply actions

Bob, do you know what a TPE is? and what it is used for?

What we got for Morrow and what we may get for CJ will be very valuable for another trade and this time it is not Cohan saving money. This will allow the team to make a trade and get back a much bigger contract and much better player.

by StinkyFingers on Jul 19, 2010 6:34 PM PDT up reply actions

do you know the exact rules regarding TPE?

I am under the impression that you cannot combine TPEs with players or with other exception. What we got from the Morrow trade cannot be combine with a TPE we might get for CJ.

The moves will not allow the team to take a bigger contract. It just allows us to take another small contract ($2.6M for the Morrow I belivee) without giving out a player.

by lightz0ut on Jul 19, 2010 6:43 PM PDT up reply actions

The trade exceptions were getting are so small, so useless...

People need to not fall for the crap Larry Riley is feeding us.

We’re getting NOTHING in return for guys who will be valuable role players.

by Bob on Jul 19, 2010 6:46 PM PDT up reply actions

actually a second round pick in this draft would have been very nice..

there were a lot of damn good players we could have taken. Whiteside, Pittman, Ebanks, Lance Stevenson (i don’t even understand how he fell as far as he did he was freshman of the year at Cincinnati in the big east) Jarvis Varnado

by mekanikal on Jul 19, 2010 7:03 PM PDT up reply actions

We had a chance to get all those guys but Whiteside...

it sucks that our staff feels that they can find greater talent in the D-league.

by Spee-D on Jul 19, 2010 7:10 PM PDT up reply actions

exactly

people need to remember 2nd round picks are not guaranteed contracts. We could simply let them walk if they did not look good at Summer league.

Can look it up at Larry Coon's website

I am sure he has that information available.

Seriously? You are talking about Watson. Trust me, the Warriors can find a replacement.

I like Watson but this isn’t the end of the world

What backup point guard options are there out there?

Seems Golden State will now be a prime spot in the eyes of some of the free agent point guards because there will actually be minutes (unless I am forgetting someone on the team)

We should pursue

Eddie House. If not, we could bring back Acie or DeMarcus Nelson.

by lushlife on Jul 19, 2010 6:50 PM PDT up reply actions

Jason Williams, Jamal Tinsley, Carlos Arroyo, Rafer Alston.. idk who else is out there

by Spee-D on Jul 19, 2010 6:54 PM PDT up reply actions

All of those guys except Arroyo are head cases.

What happened to Acie?

I’d definitely bring him back. He is a good backup PG imo and was just starting to show some stuff in the beginning of last year. Plus he can play some D.

Well it seems like Minnesota has one or two extra point guards right now.

Time to go shopping? How much for Flynn? Or maybe get a little tough guy like Sessions as a back up.

Sactown Royalty is full of Queens!

by StinkyFingers on Jul 19, 2010 6:37 PM PDT reply actions

Well if CJ is so expendable, why would the Bulls want him?

In fact why do other teams seem to always get our players, and they do well… on other teams? Even the Knicks are predicted to be a playoff team in the east this year. So where’s the logic?

But again time will tell the true results of all of this genius trading.

by deja8 on Jul 19, 2010 6:39 PM PDT reply actions

The Bulls had no other point guards on their roster

either way I wouldn’t be freaking out about the new owners because of Watson.

Next Move?

Does anyone know how much salary cap room we got now? We have to sign someone, our bench is too dependent upon Williams.

by warriorsnut on Jul 19, 2010 6:53 PM PDT reply actions

This is not a Riley move. This is a move being orchestrated by the new owners.

If they didn’t want it done. It would not be done.

Anyone know how much money he got?

Today it looks like the Bucks just signed Jon Brockman at what looks like an annual amount of $1.5 million for an undisclosed number of years and Keyon Dooling looks to be a little over $4 million for 2 years. Would think Watson would have to have cost more.

so im guessing we would get a TPE somewhere between 2.2-2.5M?

wow kind of surprised

I thought if the Warriors weren’t matching it’s because there would be 4 years on the deal

Technically Speaking....

The way I understand it, Cohan is still the legal owner of the Warriors until the NBA owners approve the sale of the team to the new group of owners. Until then, I would not be surprised if there are more twists and turns in the makeup of the team. Remember, the Warriors are a kind of unconventional team in the way they operate, per NBA team standards. Shall we still expect the unexpected until the new owners take over legally?

by Roan on Jul 19, 2010 7:38 PM PDT reply actions

What hurts is by the time Riley is gone all the quality players will no longer be available

I hope they speed up the sale approval so Warriors can hire a qualified GM to get aggressive and upgrade this roster. The bench right now is scary and Dorrel Wright has only played roughly 25 minutes per night.
