According to Marcus Thompson, the Golden State Warriors have signed guard Jannero Pargo to a two-year deal worth the veteran's minimum.

I called it. I really like pargo he can give us instant offense, leadership off bench.

yes, perfect.

We need a center, a back up SF, and maybe another PF and we sign another combo guard.

This means we will see all 6’4" of reggie williams playing SF and Lee at Center.

yes, perfect (sarcasim)

….So why did we sign Lin again?

by DubsFan408 on Jul 27, 2010 2:13 PM PDT reply actions

Marketing reasons.

I’m Chinese American, and even I can tell. I hope he does well and succeeds, but you cannot overlook that glaring reason…

by JustSomeName on Jul 27, 2010 3:13 PM PDT up reply actions

yep. the whole thing seems so gimmicky. guber seems like a gimmicky guy.

by MM389 on Jul 27, 2010 3:28 PM PDT up reply actions

he uses a lot of cliche phrases

he also tries to rhyme everything too.

Goal: 8 seed!

by dso on Jul 27, 2010 3:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Don't ge tme wrong though

As a Chinese American, I would LOVE to see him succeed and make a name for himself in the NBA, but I also see this as a business major perspective that it’s all about selling more merchandise. Guber/Lacob DO still owe 150mil right now.

by JustSomeName on Jul 27, 2010 3:56 PM PDT up reply actions

I actually like this signing

but of course the only game I remember him being significant is him burning us with back 2 back 3 pt shots.

by saint.dee on Jul 27, 2010 2:14 PM PDT reply actions

Wow.

I hate this signing. He’s terrible.

This amounts to a bet on Jeremy Lin. It’s not likely there’ s a worse player they could have signed to compete with Lin for backup PG minutes.

Sure hope Lin is up to it, because I don’t want this guy in the game, ever.

Huge step down from guys like Arroyo.

I’d rather take my boy Devean George or DJ Mbenga….

Pargo? What’s that, a type of pasta?

He's the 13th guy

No big deal. Now if we got Henry……

Consolation prize is Udoka

This is my sig, what do I do with it?

by dubzfan on Jul 27, 2010 2:31 PM PDT reply actions

Udoka is an undersized 3; more of a 2

we really don’t need more guards.

Rodney carney and a big, and let’s head to training camp

by GSW Fan4Life on Jul 27, 2010 2:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Well if Reggie really does play the 3

Than Udoka is fine at the 2. Udoka is a much better defender than Carney anyway

This is my sig, what do I do with it?

by dubzfan on Jul 27, 2010 3:07 PM PDT up reply actions

The problem is that he isn't the 13th guy.

Or, rather, we need someone who’s better than a 13th guy. We need somebody who’s the 8th guy.
(3 big men, three swingmen, and a starting PG will see more minutes than our backup PG.)

by Ronaldinho on Jul 27, 2010 2:45 PM PDT up reply actions

Technically he's the 13th guy

He couldn’t get off of the Bulls bench so I doubt he gets off ours anyway

This is my sig, what do I do with it?

by dubzfan on Jul 27, 2010 3:08 PM PDT up reply actions

In that case, well, we need another backup PG!

Unless they’re saying Charlie Bell is the guy.

sigh.

by Ronaldinho on Jul 27, 2010 4:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Now we have two spots open...

How should we fill them. I’ve loved what Riley has done.. But I’m not to sure about this.. We now have 5 gaurds who are all 6’3 or shorter (pargo)

We really need to add a wing and some type of big man, either a center or a big power forward like amundson.. Get on it Riley !

by GSW Fan4Life on Jul 27, 2010 2:34 PM PDT reply actions

It’s possible that Pargo was simply the best veteran point guard available for the vet minimum that would sign with a non-contender. He’s not likely to take minutes away from any player other than Lin, who himself might not be an NBA-caliber player, as far as we know.

The proper response to this signing: Meh.

by ivanbe on Jul 27, 2010 2:34 PM PDT reply actions   1 recs

Yes!

I don’t think everyone understands that we can’t just sign any player we want. It takes two to tango. Jannero Pargo>Charlie Bell IMO

by Captain Jack on Jul 27, 2010 2:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Personally, I would have rather taken my chances with Acie.

Sign Amundson then go after either of the Graham brothers, or Rodney Carney, Sasha Pavlovic. etc.

by Sinigang on Jul 27, 2010 2:38 PM PDT reply actions

That made me laugh.

So who is projected to make more money per minute played? Monta or Pargo?

by Balance on Jul 27, 2010 3:31 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

I hope that Evanz stands for Tyreke Evanz…

by JustSomeName on Jul 27, 2010 3:54 PM PDT up reply actions

Pargo does not appear to have a single redeemable skill

if you look at his statistics.

I really hope this is the vet minimum with a team option for the second year, i also hope we did not use your MLE on this guy

Goal: 8 seed!

Leadership...

he was there to help CP3 during his breakout year!

by iHypeTV on Jul 27, 2010 9:19 PM PDT up reply actions

why sign him to 2 years? Shoulda gave him a 1 year deal and thats it.

by SuperStarAR on Jul 27, 2010 4:48 PM PDT reply actions

I don't know too much

about him other than the big 3’s he hit against us vs the Hornets a couple years ago.
