Small forward options from free agency.
The free agency Lebron circus has finally ended. The dubs made an interesting trade for David Lee from the Knicks, which left us with a glaring hole at the small forward position. I thought Azubuike would be able to play sf for us this season but now hes gone. So what do we do? Here are some guys that interest me some are potential long term options and some are just 1 or 2 year guys for us.
Maurice Evans - former team Miami Hawks - 6'5, 220 lbs. - age 30
I have always liked Mo Evans as an all around player. He has always been a great role player and i think he could step in for us and be our starter. He has a good outside jumper and he has very good athleticism. I think he could start at the 3 this year for us until we found something more long term.
Josh Howard - former team Washington Wizards - 6'7, 210 lbs. - age 31
He has had some character issues yes, but he has always been a productive player when healthy. If he can stay healthy i think he could help us out for a year or two.
Richard Jefferson - former team San Antonio Spurs - Quentin Richardson - age 30
He had his worst season this past year with the spurs i think playing with the big 3 there wasnt something he was used to. He had a hard time adjusting to the spurs slow paced style. I have heard that he wants a big long term deal wherever he signs and I wouldnt want to get into a big contract like that. But if we can get him for a good price Im all for it.
Tracy McGrady - former team New York Knicks - 6'8, 223 lbs. - age 31
T-mac showed last season that he still has something left in the tank. If he can stay healthy a whole season he could certainly help a team. At this point I think he would go anywhere that any team showed interest in him. We could probably get him for a small one year contract and I think he would be worth a look.
Matt Barnes - former team Orlando Magic - 6'7, 226 lbs. - age 30
Everybody loves Matty Barnes! I would love to see him back in a dubs uniform he knows our style and plays good defense.
Antoine Wright - former team Toronto Raptors - 6'7 215 lbs. - age 26
Wright has always been a good role player on the verge of starting potential. He just needs a chance and he could get one here. He has a good all around game and could fit in nicely as a role player with our young core.
Wesley Matthews - former team Utah Jazz - 6'5, 220 lbs. - age 23
He was a great find by the Jazz and he hasnt resigned with them yet. He is a little undersized to play small forward but thats never stopped Nellie before. He is a good shooter and is very athletic. I think he could be a nice replacement for Buike if we could get him.
Dorell Wright - former team Miami Heat - 6'9, 210 lbs. - age 24
Wright is a project guy but well worth the risk. He is huge with a long wingspan. He could turn into a great defender, he is a good 3 point shooter and is very athletic for his size. He is one of the guys that I am most interested in this offseason (no homo)

wow – not one good option. Only a matter of time before the dubs throw out 40m for one of these clowns
it's just a game.

Good thing we dont have 40m to work with then.

Do a 1 year deal for these guys
Nothing more, draft a SF next year in a SF deep class. I say swing for the fences and take a shot at Tmac, if he’s healthy we get a steal. If not it’s just like last year! More Dleaguers!
When I get older, I will be stronger.
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
I think I can live with one year of T-Mac, maybe even two if the price is right. I’d rather seal up a Josh Childress for 3-4. We should be able to draft one of those SF’s in next years draft even if we sign either.
I think signing a 1 year deal with Tmac with a 2nd year team option would be good
I’d say next offseason sign a 3 or draft one or both
When I get older, I will be stronger.

T-Mac would be nice
maybe a 2 year 9 million dollar deal?

If hes coming back
what about Josh Childress, very efficient scorer who doesn’t need many touches and has the prototypical size for SF, as well as being a decent rebounder especially on the offensive end. He doesn’t have much of a jumper however and will probably need a bit of time to readjust to the NBA after being gone for two seasons. Since the Hawks resigned Joe Johnson, I believe he is basically unrestricted as the Hawks won’t match any reasonable offer to him. Another similar option would be Ronnie Brewer, I think both of them will sign pretty reasonable contracts as their skill sets seem to be pretty underrated by many GMs.
Chilldress is going to command 6-7 million
As more and more sfs get signed his value goes up. At first he was projected to be signed for MLE. Now since Outlaw, Gomes, LBJ, Gay, Miller, Salmons, JJ, and Kleiza have been signed the price for a sf has sky rocketed. Teams are likely to overpay for Chilldress and other sfs.
Fuck the Lakers...Oh sorry the Fakers
haha so much hype for miami they have the hawks team too? haha.. anyway .. i also would like to see jChildress in a dubs uni too… or perhaps play Lee at the 5 like he played for nyc and trade biedrins for a sf like to detroit who needs a big for prince?
I just threw up in my mouth
Trust me, learning english isn’t a waste of time. It is actually sort of useful.

I am so not worried about SF
there are plenty of SF in next year’s draft, and we have 4/5 positions set now. How many teams can say that?
I love Wesley Matthews
though he’s a true SG. I’d pursue him if Monta can be packaged for a SF.
What about:
Ronnie Brewer?
I’d go for Dorrell wright at correct price or even James Jones
My top SF's in order... (btw..why is everyone so low on T Mac... he's better than anyone we have @ the 3spot now..

maurice evans – too old
t-mac – old but could bring veteran leadership to our team
josh howard – thug, don’t need that (ie stephen jackson)
matt barnes – i’d take him
antoine wright – if we could swing a crazy trade that included him and Hedo, in a second
wesley matthews – we need to get rid of small ball
Dorell Wright – PERFECT, the right size, can shoot the three ball, perfect complement to curry and monta
oh and wright is YOUNG!!! we can develop him!!
by Young Moolah on Jul 9, 2010 11:47 AM PDT up reply actions
Wright's injuries have almost ruined him
He’s a role player, I doubt with all his injuries he can really develop
When I get older, I will be stronger.
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag
How about Mike Miller?
I know he’ll probably sign with the Heat, but we can offer him something.
Do we still have Vlad or was he part of the package?
Matt Barnes for sure, Nor-Cal guy, loves us fans, never made more than 1.6 mil.
Say we sign MB to a 2 yer 3.5 mil contract, that would leave us enough room to go secure CJ, Ammo, and still sign another vet big man. There are a bunch of inexpensive free agent backup veteran centers out there. Here’s a list of free agents
If we could get Matt we would still have room to sign more people. Please Larry Riley, call Matt Barnes bring him back!
that would be nice
but i think he wants at least the mid level exception thats why he hasnt resigned witht he magic yet.. they blew his head up i guess and he wants real money now
You know what we need?
More small forward threads! What is this, like 5 or 6 since last night? We get it already, W’s need a SF.
