PLAYOFFS! Very likely to happen next year

WE NOW HAVE A BIG 3!!!

I am one of the people that loves this trade. We just took the dubs up a huge notch with this move. I know a lot of people don’t like it because we gave up Randolph. The reality is though that he seems like one of the players that won’t reach his potential. He doesn’t have a good attitude and he doesn’t have the intangibles you need to be great, you can’t teach those things. Therefore I do not mind giving him up and I hope he proves me wrong and excels in NY. Back to the subject, for all of the Monta haters, I think you need to now give him a chance. I’m sure he loves this trade. He wanted the FO to improve our team for the short term and they did. Not only that, we got a post scoring presence! I would not be surprised to see Monta playing a lot of off ball. I can picture Steph and Lee doing a lot of pick and rolls and then having Monta slash in to finish the play. There is no way Monta will be inefficient like last year, he was actually a very efficient player a couple years ago, so he has the ability. I’m sure he is building great chemistry with Steph now and will defer the ball handling to him next season now that he knows the kid can play.

With Amare and Boozer out of the West, the aging Spurs, and the new acquisition of Lee, I believe the Warriors have a good chance at making the playoffs next year. However, there are three key steps that must take place for that to happen.

1. Monta and Biedrins. These are still two studs in my opinion.
I am surprised how people are so quick to give up on guys. Two years ago Biedrins was excellent. Last year, he was trash, but he was dealing with an agonizing injury the whole year and trying to get back in to basketball shape. If he is working hard this summer, and I’m 99.999% sure he is, then we will see the stud we saw two years ago. With him and Lee pulling down boards left and right, it should be fun to watch. Monta on the other hand, tried to do way too much last year. In his opinion, he probably felt that he was all they had. He was kind of right. Curry blossomed, but I’m sure he did not want to defer to a rookie that was fed with a silver spoon his whole life whereas he had to earn everything he has, including playing time. Now that he respects Steph, I think we have one of the best backcourts in the whole NBA. But for us to make the playoffs, Monta has to accept the role of Steph being the ball handler and know he can’t be jacking up 25+ FGA any game. If Beans and Monta go back to how they played during the “We believe” era that will be step 1 of making the playoffs.

2. INJURIES. There is no way we will make the playoffs if we have the injuries we experienced the last two seasons. Everyone must stay healthy. As of now, we are a pretty deep team. IMO we have one of the best bench’s in the league. But if injuries plague us like last year, then our bench players become starters, and d leaguers will become our bench players…and that can’t happen. Brandan Wright is going to surprise a lot of us I think. You could tell he wants it bad. He has been training non-stop and has been in the weight room bulking up. If he stays healthy, it can go a long way. It is imperative that we avoid as many injuries as possible so that our team can develop a chemistry of playing together and give the starters rest. With our deep rotation, a healthy lineup is very key in making the playoffs.

3. MLE. Probably the most important aspect left of the offseason. As of now our lineup looks like this for next year:

Curry/ Watson (if he returns)

Monta/ Morrow/Bell

/Reggie

Lee/Wright/Udoh

Beans/Gadz

What is missing? Oh yeah, a STARTING 3! Reggie is great, but he played 29 games last year folks, he is not ready to be a starter, especially on a playoff team. He is great and I love him, but I just think he needs more time. One day he will be a starter in this league if he keeps this type of play up. Using out MLE to sign a SF is crucial. We are in luck because there are a tremendous amount of SF’s that are FA’s this year in our price range. But who should we target? IMO, there are 7 people we should look into.

Tracy McGrady- Our team gets better, period. A top 5 player in the league before he was injured. T-Mac is only 30, has some game and athletic ability left. He provides something we need as well, veteran experience. Problem I have with him is he is injury prone which we don’t need and also if he expects to be the first or even second option on offense.

Ronnie Brewer- If the Jazz decide to let him go, he would provide something we definitely need, perimeter defense. One of the best in the league. Knock on him is if he is too small to guard 3’s and his scoring ability.

Dorrell Wright- A long, 6’9, athletic wing who is a great shooter. I think he would fit into our system perfectly. I also think he can be a good defender. CON: hasn’t really proven himself yet, is still young and I think we need a vet to start at the three.

Matt Barnes- You know what you’re getting, we all have seen him plenty. I just don’t know if he was good enough on D.

Travis Outlaw- A Warrior killer. Hated playing him every game because he would tear us up. He is super long and a freakish athlete who could also shoot it from deep. However, would he provide the defensive intensity we need?

Richard Jefferson- He can play. He can shoot. He can rebound. He gets after it every game. Well… at least he did up until last year. If we get him will he play like he has every other year except last? OR will he be a dud and play heartlessly?

Josh Howard- Another solid player. He does everything well and he is a veteran. These are two aspects that we definitely need. One big turnoff is his attitude problem. The LAST thing we need on this team, we need to have positivity and I don’t know if he will help with that.

SPECIFY IN COMMENT WHO WE SHOULD HAVE AT SF NEXT YEAR

Well those are the three steps that need to take place in order for us to make the playoffs next year. It is very possible. I honestly think the suns, jazz, and spurs are done. My playoff picture looks like this so far…

1.Lakers

2.Thunder

3.Mavs

4.Trailblazers

5.Nuggets

Those are the five guaranteed teams. I think we can fight it out for the last three spots if those three steps take place. I think the final three spots will come down to the jazz, spurs, clippers, rockets…and WARRIORS. Playoffs 2011 here we come.
