Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

2010-2011

Okay so the Warriors have done some moves so that they have the ability to "win now and build for later." The team also has a few more goals to accomplish with resigning Anthony Morrow as well as bringing back C.J. Watson or finding a new backup to our franchise player (we all know who it is now). This may sound good now but it would be even greater if new ownership can come in and save us before we waste our MLE (Mid Level Exception) on more useless players that would be nowhere near the rotation on an above average NBA roster. We all know we had a lot of depth at the small forward position before the off-season begin but none of them were considered players that could start on a contender which is why majority of them have shift off due to heavily inflated contracts (Corey Maggette) or because of career changing injuries (Kelenna Azubuike). Some of these players may not be All-Stars, or at least not anymore, but they can still help out this young core.

Dorell Wright- People forget he has playoff experience as well & also haves a ring of his own (He was on that ‘06 Heat team but people seem to forget). I see him as a poor man’s Caron Butler or T-Mac before all the injuries began to pile up on him. He would also be great as he is still young and can develop with our core. Dorrell Wright would not have to make many adjustments as he was never the 1st-3rd option on the Heat anyway which will allow him to play his own game. PROS: Versatile, Young w/ upside. CONS: Outside Shot

Josh Howard- Has playoff experience as well (His team lost to that ’06 Heat team). He is just as versatile as anybody. The things that worry me most about him is that he comes with the extra baggage we do not need to have an influence on a young team as well as a career threatening injury that can possibly make him a liability. The good side is that he believes that he could ready to play before training camp. PROS: Versatile w/ Experience. CONS: Injury Prone, Comes w/ extra baggage

Ronnie Brewer: He has a great basketball IQ. Plays defense, which is something this team is new to. Brewer also knows how to play within the offense which is great for a team who has a primary ball handler with Stephen Curry. The only problem I have with him is his ugly jump shot (Even though it is due to a childhood injury) which I do not mind as long as it goes in. I also think Ronnie is an underrated rebounder. PROS: Defense, both man to man & team wise. CONS: Inconsistent jump shot

The one player I am tired of everybody bringing up is Tracy McGrady. He is washed up & I don't think he can be anymore than a third or fourth option in the league if he ever gets any of his strength/passion back. I'm not saying I wouldn't want him on this roster but if he expects to come in & be the star of this team he can take him and his rapidly declining game somewhere else, but if he is willing to come in and nurture our young wing players than he can hop aboard the "We Believe 2.0" campaign. But in my all honest opinion, the last thing we need is him and his "curse of injuries" especially if we are able to bring in new ownership that can start the franchise off fresh. PROS: Experience. CONS: Injury Prone w/ loss of passion for the game

Alot of people have been upset about the David Lee trade but I see it as a blessing in disguise. We get a proven player who has been known for being durable as of late for a PF who has been judged based on "potential", a center/forward that is only known for blocking shots and going dumb on the court, & a solid wing player that may never be the same again. This must prove that threw the Summer League workouts, the team must've been more impressed with Brandan Wright over Anthony Randolph as that who they obviously chose to side with instead of the other. I would be upset if we had to give up both players to get D. Lee but we didn't which is why I am extremely pleased (Remember when we went after Amare Stoudemire they wanted majority of the above including Andris Biedrins & Steph Curry) with something the front office has done for once. But in all honesty, the team is taking a step in a positive direction for the better...Let the 2010-2011 season hurry up and come already.

We have nothing they would want...

…and they have nothing we would ask about besides CP3 but we got the Curry so I don’t see anything breaking down unless it’s a three-team trade

only

bc I thought he opted out. I would have given up a 2nd rounder for Beasley tho. He could play SF

by Shaftaloo on Jul 9, 2010 1:23 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah...

…but that would’ve taken up our entire MLE & we need defense at the SF while his defense is suspect at the moment (even though I think he will get better on that side)

Lemme see...

Biedrins (if back to his old form)- 10-12 RPG

David Lee- 10-12 RPG

Brandan Wright- 5-9 RPG

Right there that is 25-33 RPG and the average playoff team averages around 42 and game so it wouldn’t be hard to expect the rest of team to grab 10-15 on their own. Notice how I left off Ekpe Udoh as well!

by iHypeTV on Jul 9, 2010 1:27 PM PDT up reply actions

I was agreeing to that as well...

…I think the only thing that can hurt him from having a breakout season is playing the SF and having to deal with Durant, LBJ, Granger, & those kind of players every single night. If he has a chance to play in the rookie-sophomore game he will become well-known guaranteed.

Currry and Monta have already had breakout seasons

or us to have a shot – we really needs beans to return to form

If any Warrior fan wants to sniff the playoffs u should be begging for Ronnie Brewer. Who else on this team can guard Kobe, Wade, Roy, Durant? Ronnie can.

why is he leaving Utah?

Utah traded him at the trade deadline in February...

…to MEM for a draft pick and MEM decided to renounce his rights I believe making him an unrestricted free agent meaning he can sign with anybody

woops, just found out thanks.
