One of the NBA's friendlier faces announces his retirement from professional basketball, on the court at least. Can we expect the Warriors to retire his jersey? Give him a front office job? Perhaps get him to run for mayor of Oakland? Just kidding about the latter.

ESPN's Truehoop's reports a poem that Foyle wrote about his time in the NBA. The poetics of Foyle's stylized outlet passes can be seen when he puts pen to pad.

Thanks jpees for reporting this earlier.

AF, unique to the end
Its only truth lies in the understanding it will all end.

Someone forgot to tell AF, we can’t handle the truth ;-)

lol. Only Foyle would make a poem for his retirement.

What a great guy. I have a feeling he’ll be doing a lot of great things now that his NBA career is over.

I wonder what he will end up doing. He seems like he would be a really good player relations person for an organization.

To you Adonal. Thanks for every smile and block and outlet pass. His skills may not have been the greatest, but he sure was one of the greatest guys the Warriors have ever had. Wish he could retire as a Warrior.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

A sad day in my life indeed. While he’ll never get the ring I always wished he would, or made an All-Star game, the important thing is that his impact on the world will be much larger than that. While it’s always fun to watch Adonal block a shot, badly miss a jumper, or clank a dunk, in 20 years, I guarantee you we’ll talk much more about the things Adonal is doing to help his home country and democracy in the United States rather than his actions on the court. And deep down, I always knew that was why he is my favourite player.

Foyle..

Will go down as one of the only professional players who is known for his generosity, philanthropy rather than his play. He is a true professional on and off the court and I will look for him to continue to do his great work for his Read to Achieve program. Cheers!

Best of luck to Adonal and his hands made of bricks. Here’s hoping he becomes the head of the players union.

Foyle's farewell

Your farewell poem was as good as your best games as a Warrior. Thanks for being a role model for kids and letting them know there is more to life then basketball.

Thank you Adonal

You were one of my favorite Warriors ever. Keep doing the good work you do, and enjoy NBA retirement.
