Another Trade Proposal T.T
You guys are gonna get pissed at me for posting this and think I've gone crazy but try and here me through on this trade proposal:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=284cvch
Warriors get: Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw
Bobcats get: Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins
Why the Warriors would do this:
Gerald Wallace is hands down one of the best defenders in the league, bar none. He's perhaps the best rebounding SF in the league, too, and his presence alone (and his impact on others around him) will pretty much eliminate (or almost eliminate) the Warriors' two major problems last year: Defense and Rebounding.
As has already been discussed, Monta's scoring will be replaced fairly easily. The biggest problem I assume all of you have is this leaves us with nothing at the Center position, which is true (Gadzuric doesn't count).
We get Boris Diaw, who although is only 6'8", can give us some positive minutes to help make up for the loss. In addition, we get his $9 million dollar expiring contract, which along with Gadzuric's and Radmanovic's will give us more than enough money this offseason to sign either a max free agent (although you guys don't like to hear Melo and max in the same sentence) or some very serviceable players for years to come (Marc Gasol, anyone?) or even some combination of the two.
Why the Bobcats would do this:
Unfortunately for the franchise that just reached the playoffs for the first time, they have pretty much peaked in terms of potential and ability. They lose their best player in Wallace but get a top tier scorer (whom they desperately need with the worst offense in the league) in Monta Ellis and a definite starting C in Biedrins (who would replace Dampier, major upgrade down low).
They get 2 very young pieces to start building around (who are still a few years off their prime) who along with Stephen Jackson (Monta's good friend) and Tyrus Thomas can create an interesting starting lineup to develop and improve. Boris Diaw's loss will not really be felt.
This is really just another option for the Warriors to get an all-star such as previous posts regarding Iggy, Granger, and of course, Melo.
In my opinion, as long as they don't give up Curry, I would trade pretty much anything (though not everything) to get any of these players. Opinions?

Just kidding but I’d take any of them but the Cats won’t deal Wallace right now, he’s there franchise

My order
1. Carmelo Anthony (a true star and maybe the most versatile offensive player in the league)
2. Danny Granger (best mix of defensive presence and offensive prowess)
3. Gerald Wallace (I like Iguodala’s game better but Wallace makes ~$4 million less per year)
4. Andre Iguodala (WAY overpaid, bad shooter, but what a defender/rebounder)
(a true star and maybe the most versatile offensive player in the league)
Career 30.8% 3P shooter.

I would take Carmelo last of those 4 I think. He’s not a true star.

He's on the Mavs.

No go.
1) Center position naked. Lee at power forward? No. We have two of the best rebounders in the game. Two of the top 5 probably. Let’s see how that translates to wins. I think it’s going to.
2) Gerald Wallace is a good defender at the 3. So is Wright. Why would you want an older, expensive player, who does the same things Wright will do for you?
3) He can’t shoot.
I really don't want to trade Biedrins.
I always said that Andris is probably the best complementary big man in the league, if you could just get him an all-star power forward to play alongside. I said this back when Harrington was starting. I think he and Lee are going to work out beautifully. Don’t break them up.
I don’t think Wallace will help us any more than Monta and Biedrins can. Let’s be patient and see how they play. It’s a completely new year in every form. I wouldn’t trade Andris at this point unless it’s something involving a player like Marc Gasol.
Total Rebound Leaderboard
‘09-’10
David Lee #3 949
‘08-’09
David Lee: #2 – 951 TRB
Andris Biedrins: #14 – 693 TRB
‘07- ’08
Andris Biedrins: #13 744 TRB
David Lee: #15 724 TRB
’06-’07
Andris Biedrins: #10 762
Hopefully working together they can both go for 1000. Or at least a fan can dream.

Sure using their season stats instead of per game or rate stats is smart.

We didnt get Cousins, we traded Turiaf and people want to give away Beans. Wow.

to be fair, getting Gerald Wallace isn’t GIVING him away.

It'd be sort of a dumb move, either way.
I really don’t know how much more value Gerald Wallace will give you, concerning his age, contract(comparing) than having guys like Reggie and Dorell on the floor, in a trade for our only center in Biedrins. Not only do I lack faith in his ability to be that guy who will carry us over the hump, but I actually value Biedrins game. A lot. I really think he and Lee will be one of the best productive PF/C tandems in the league for years to come. Biedrins is an absolutely perfect, glove-like fit to Lee, as he does the things centers need to do without the ball, exceptionally well.
Lee’s passing and Biedrins’ finishing also, improves his game offensively. This is not an offer that can be made by 95% of the power forwards in the league who share Lee’s scoring prowess. You see, it’s really a unique situation, where you have a teammate along Andris who not only allows him to do what he does best, but actually improves his weaknesses.
Man you guys don’t get bored with trade ideas do you? Aha.
Gerald Wallace is just too valuable at the moment. I think it’d be a nice trade for us, but not so sure the Bobcats would like. They’re trading the 3rd or 4th best SF along with a good role player. But then again, Jordan isn’t exactly the brightest when it comes to evaluating basketball talent (I know he’s the best player in history).
no way
this trade is bad because it’s bad. Be enlightened~
Goal: 8 seed!
Define game changer?
I mean, he definitely changes defense by not playing it.

Not so bad if ...
Warriors can land Gasol next FA period. He’d be really nice on this team w/ Curry & Lee. Also, the Warriors would free up lots of salary.
However, it would be safer to keep Beans & then go after Gasol & if succesful then trade Beans afterwards. Losing Beans & not having anything to replace him would mean Lee @ Center or maybe even Udoh. Both of these scenarios are a little worrying.
There’s some redundancy with Wallace but the contract is only two years so he should be pretty desirable trade bait (assuming that Bobcats would agree to this trade).
I just don't see how Charlotte is going to ship out their best player.
Look – they know what a team looks like when it has Stephen Jackson, Monta Ellis, and Biedrins as key players. Why would they try to recreate that?
Wallace is really good and they’re going ot keep him as long as they can.
Haha I would take Wallace/Diaw in a heart beat
but that’s cause I’m a big fan of both of those guys.Diaw can be a little unmotivated though.
"You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."
Why would we do this?
It makes no sense. We would be trading an extremely efficient scorer in Ellis and our only true center worth any minutes at the position in Biedrins for ANOTHER small forward and a power forward.
By doing this trade we would be significantly worse. Gerald Wallace would end up starting at the 3, pushing Dorell Wright to the bench. Reggie would then have to fill in and start at the 2. I like Reggie as much as the next guy but I don’t think he should starting.
This would also put Diaw at the 4, pushing Lee to play center like he did in NY. This would match him up with players much bigger than him (Dwight, Shaq, Bynum) and unnecessarily risk him getting hurt.
It seriously sounds like you just made up this trade to dump Ellis and Biedrins. Because other than that we get nothing out of this deal and it screws the team over in a BIG way.
"Warrior Pride Till The Day I Die"
We would be trading an extremely efficient scorer in Ellis
Huh? Monta Ellis? The one that plays on the Warriors? Efficient? Shirley, you jest.
Even if Ellis isn't an efficient scorer
This trade opens more holes in the starting lineup than before. Center is going to be a mess. Assuming Lee goes over to Center, then we’ve got a C, PF, PG without strong defense. This is not an improvement.
Agreed, with warriorfanlive dont trade ellis! although i do have to laugh at the extremely efficient scorer. Ellis is very good but that might be taking it a little far LOL!
ok, so maybe not EXTREMELY efficient...
but come on the rest of what i said made sense. this trade is all bad. and as for ellis, I think this year he should be able to slide back to his role from the 07/08 team where he was a 2nd/3rd option behind baron and sometimes jackson. you gotta admit the kid was pretty efficient that year.

Last season,
he was actually extremely inefficient from both a scoring efficiency and turnover perspective.

thats cause he was almost playing by himself and all pressure was being put on him to be king of the hill!
Okay
that’s the not the point.
I guess you just hate Stephen Curry, Anthony Morrow, Reggie Williams, CJ Watson and Corey Maggette if you really think they’re nothing.

Getting tired of hearing the D Leage excuse. The team could still score without Ellis throwing up 30 shots a game. This whole “Ellis put the team on his back” thing is not the best arguement.

I wonder if the people who make this argument actually watched the team play.
It’s amusing, because those of us who throw advanced stats around are often accused of not watching the game.
But when Monta shot the ball poorly because he shot the ball when double- or tripple- teamed, with his teammates wide open, it kind of busts the “he had no help” argument.
Especially when two of those teammates where among the best 3-pt shooters in the league.
Usually when guys have high PPG marks and the team doesn't do well.
The fans and media scream “he had no help!!!”
We’ve seen this with Kobe, T-Mac, A.I. Melo, KG, Lebron, Marbury, Monta, and Pierce. Only guys who actually didn’t have help was KG, Bron, and Pierce. The rest just weren’t that good, or their teammates suckitude was overstated.

Yes, yes he was. He was also pretty inefficient last year (and the year before, but was coming back from injury and only played a bit of the season). Which version of Monta will we get this coming season? That remains to be seen. I don’t think any of us have a clue, or even a good guess.

I agree if no one else will, monta will return to form this year. I also think we will bring something new this year to his bag of tricks :)
What new trick will he be adding?

I think we will get more calls this year, and be able to head to the foul line. Which will in turn translate to better stats :)
Was he not getting foul calls last year? And what is this opinion based on?
It’s like me saying, as a Kings fan, Tyreke Evans will be bringing a new 3 point shot next year and not backing it up with any information.

Do you think Granger is on the trade block?
I’m thinking the Pacers are going to keep Granger & the CP3’s backup who looked pretty good last year & keep building.
I’d rather have Iguodala. His defense and rebounding go a long way….

If this was at all possible Stephen Jackson and Rod Higgins would make sure that they got this steal of a deal.
They would get Biedrins and Monta for Wallace, and a scrub. What a deal!!!

That is a 35 win team in a best case scenario
I think you’re selling Gerald Wallace a bit short there.
