Snubbed again. Do Warriors Fans need fans of their own? [Fear the Beard]
M. Meschery: "Golden State Warriors Fans are the definition of loyal fans. Loyalty takes some effort. As the good folks at Golden State of Mind must know. Just imagine the emotional and psychological muscles being built over there by mustering up the enthusiasm to produce continuous blog posts with hundreds of comments in the middle of another 29-53 season. It’s beyond me."
Seriously, we're nuts.

didnt we win
only 26? ha. Not only that though, but the posts are topping over 100 comments very frequently in the middle of August after yet another under 30 win year. No question who has the best and most loyal fanbase.
This is a completely disingenuous post and the author should be ashamed.
It is clearly not the middle of August yet.
In defense of Forbes
our attendance last year was 14th or thereabouts in the NBA – way under our market potential. I’d rather talk BB with this group of crazies than any other, myself – and if this team makes a major push, our fans leading lives of quiet desperation will show up. :)
Potential is what you pitch when you have low current value.
1) Forbes is indefensibly lame, and named after an unblinking cyborg.
2) Any reference to attendance should be put in context. The fact that attendance was ranked 14th for a team that won less than 30 games speaks volumes about fan loyalty.

I'm quite familiar with Malcom Forbes, thank you
and if you expect me to defend a man whose magazine slogan was “Capitalist Tool” you should Get To Know Me, as Al Franken used to say. Although I do like the Forbin Project reference.
But Forbes is a bizmag, and to expect them to try and quantify loyalty beyond the cash register is a little much to expect from them.

Yeeeaaaahhhh, no.
Actually I was referring to baby Steve, who I guess isn’t technically who the magazine is named after. If you’ll recall the his presidential candidacy and resultant TV interviews, the man does not blink. Ever.
Also, I (used to) love Al Franken, and I will out-anti-Capitalism you any day of the week, bub! I’m not even down for, like, laissez-faire stuff. I’m hardcore!

Great piece.
Shoot, I BECAME a fan during the Vonteego Cummings era. My first season was ‘98-’99. Other guys off the top of my head on that squad were Jason Caffey, Donyell Marshall, Tony Delk. That team was so lovably awful and dysfunctional, here I am a decade later and still totally hooked.

That was Antawn's rookie year
I think that’s why I started following, my Warriors fan cousin told me I should be excited about him, so I was.

Hmm, but it seems Vonteego was gone at that point.
I guess I did follow loosely before that year, but ‘98-’99 was definitely my true genesis as a Dubs fan.

Same for me!
I totally remember the Chris Mills incident and also thinking the Warriors had a chance to make the playoffs because of the shortened season. Ah, the naivety of youth…

I remember 93-94 I was in middle school
I was a big Warriors fan. I remember Gugliotta and Donyell Marshall vividly.
we're gonna be #1 soon
once we start winning again. and we’ll start winning this season, and make some of next year’s free agents take notice, and the ball will roll, probably steadily under this new management (fingers crossed)
and on that day when we get a ring (and i hope one goes on curry’s finger) our loyalty will be rewarded… lakers fans havent had to go through what we have, and they won’t understand how special that day will be…
Can't tell me NOTHIN'.
don't kid yourselves...
there are fans like us who loyally support horrible teams all over the world

Yeah
when we finally start to win in Golden State, Warrior fans will go crazy and the true fans will have an even better feeling because we been here through the bad. Everyone will jump on the bandwagon.
