Steph Curry ranked #6

I'm sure, like many other GSOM'ers, you might be participating in some form of a fantasy basketball league for the upcoming basketball season. Well I recently joined a Yahoo! league and was very surprised when I saw who was ranked at #6 in the pre-draft player rankings. It's none other than Warriors' own Stephen Curry! I was juiced to see a Warrior getting some national love and ranked that high but it made me think... does he really deserve to be that high? Can really put numbers like that? And If I end up with the 6th pick in this league, would I even pick Steph? (Probably, but only because it makes Dubs games that much more exciting when you have a Warrior on your fantasy team)

I'd like to know what everyone thinks about him being ranked that high. Warriors bias aside, does he really deserve to be ranked at the #6 spot? I'm curious to get other fans' perspective. Plus I've got moolah on the line so just in case I do land that 6th pick, I'll be able to make the right decision!

I’d say he deserves to be ranked pretty high but only because it’s fantasy basketball. It doesn’t mean he’s the 6th best player in the league. I believe Danny Granger was a top 10 pick last year.

Curry’s gonna realistically avg 17-20 ppg with about 6-8 asts, but what sets him apart is his percentages (fg%, 3pt , and ft). It also doesn’t hurt that he’ll get you about 2 3’s a game, plus a few steals. I personally think he’d be a solid first round pick up, but that’s just my opinion.

I can’t wait for the season to start! LGW

Only 6-8 assists? I think he’ll get 9-11 a game. Between passes to Curry and Lee, the guy will rack them up.

9-11 is quite a bit

In the history of the NBA, only 11 PGs have gotten 9+ assists per game as a 2nd year player. http://tinyurl.com/23dsqly

I must look like a dork.

thank you

thanks for the reference Rev, i mean hell I’d love it if curry can avg 18 ppg and 10 apg, but at this point i think that’s just wishful thinking, thus my 6-8 prediction.

Fine, 8-10.

I think Curry

can eventually get to 10 assists a game but not just yet. I’ll be happy with 20 points and 8 assists this year which is something Curry can definitely do. I see Curry at 20, 4, and 10 with 2 steals and great shooting % this season.

In the history of the NBA, only 11 PGs have gotten 9+ assists per game as a 2nd year player

One of them was a great scoring PG that played for Don Nelson in Golden State named Tim Hardaway, so maybe it could be possible? Curry will definitely have quite a two great finishers on the receiving end of his passes (Monta & David Lee), with a few players that can also finish well. It could be possible, I personally doubt it happens, but there’s still a chance!

Michael Ray Richardson

Your link just gave me all kinds of flashbacks when I saw Michael Ray Richardson’s name. Another example of unrealized potential.

Hope you're right but that's an incredibly high assist #

10 assists per game is really hard.. I think Curry has a shot at becoming a 10 assist PG in a few years but accomplishing such a feat in only his second season would be enough to turn heads all over the league.

And he should do better this year...

with the addition of Lee and a new Monta.

And healthy (hopefully) quality big men in Wright and Goose.

And by quality, I mean at least better than the frontcourts of VladRad/Tolliver/Hunter we threw out last year.

haha

the fantasy season is gonna be a lot more fun if your watching the Warriors!

The fantasy season or the real season?

Maybe they can just broadcast the fantasy games where we do really well and ignore the real stuff? If it’s only on the TV who would know the difference? the Oracle could host the fantasy games much like the fake wrestling matches?

Looking at our schedule for the first month everybody should be averaging good numbers in for the month of November.

Are you looking at the real schedule of the fantasy schedule?

Real 1. We play the Knicks twice and the pistons twice and the grizzlies twice. And play the raptors. Imagine the numbers Curry should put up on those teams.

If you saw Skeptic’s and my fantasy numbers, you’d be even more impressed.

Remember than fantasy basketball has it's own rules about what is valuable.

I don’t know how that list is compiled, but for example a lot of fantasy leagues put a lot of emphasis on volume and almost none on efficiency. It doesn’t necessarily correlate in any special way with winning.

Better to get the recognition than not, but don’t assume it means anything.

It is my firm belief...

It’s my firm belief that Steph Curry is destined to be among the league’s best 3 point guards in the NBA for 15+ years. He’s a young Steve Nash with a more pure shot… and his mom is hot! That is all!

Curry was a top 5 fantasy player last season. He completely crushed my points league.
