Some highlights from HoopsHype: (bolding is mine)Scott Howard-Cooper: Warriors and Rodney Carney appear headed to a contract. No. 16 pick in 2006 still looking for breakthrough season. Twitter - http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm
Great first step... Quite an athlete... More than decent shooter... Inconsistent... Mediocre defender.

From Draft Express (11/17/09) (bolding mine)
Overview: An athletic wing who has had a hard time translating his awesome physical tools into a niche in the NBA. One of the most impressive leapers in the NBA. Elite run-jump athlete. Has very good size and length. Mother was an elite sprinter and half brother, Ron Slay, is also a professional basketball player. Has always been lauded for his athleticism, but is prone to taking too many jump shots. Improved consistently throughout his four year career at Memphis. Was named the Conference USA Player of the Year as a senior. Garnered a selection in the middle of the first round. Saw a decent amount of playing time as a rookie in Philadelphia, but has been unable to take the next step in his career thus far. Returned to the 76ers and played one year with the Timberwolves. Has been able to make some plays with his athleticism, but still has yet to reach his potential, due to his underdeveloped basketball IQ.
Offense: An inefficient offensive player who has the tools to be far more effective. Gets about half of his offensive opportunities in spot up situations with another quarter coming in transition. Excels in open space. Has solid form on his shot, which features excellent elevation. A solid set shooter whose efficiency plummets when he puts the ball on the floor. Will fade away a bit when he has a hand in his face. Has never been much of a ball handler, and still struggles to put the ball on the floor. Weak handle, limited feel and poor pull up jumper make it tough for him to take advantage of his absolutely outstanding first step. Proves to be a very capable finisher at the rim when he can get there. Explosive leaping ability makes it easy for him to out jump his defender to finisher. Will get in a bit of a rush in traffic. Doesn’t get to the line at all for a player that has the athleticism to get to the rim consistently. Takes a lot of jump shots considering how effective he is at the rim. Doesn’t turn the ball over too much, but doesn’t make his teammates better either. Not a terribly versatile offensive player, but has some tools that could serve him extremely well if he improved some parts of his game.
Defense: A solid defender when he wants to be. Doesn’t rebound the ball at a good rate or force many turnovers. Displays excellent lateral quickness at times when defending the ball, but doesn’t always get in a good stance. Does a solid job denying penetration when he commits to it. Able to defend multiple positions due to his foot speed. Doesn’t play a terribly aggressive brand of defense, but is prone to selling out to block shots when closing out. Has average fundamentals at best, maneuvering himself out of position when playing off the ball. Has his moments, but has the physical tools to be a real stopper. Feel for the game must improve to reach his potential.

What's his ceiling?
I would say he can play a very similar role to what Barnes did for us when he was here. I think he’s worth a shot as long as it’s only 1 year gauranteed.
Matt Barnes with hops?

what position
does this guy play because he sounds pretty good but we need more of a center and a small forward. Also we need better free throw shooting because I don’t know if Andris can make at least 60% of his free throws (hopefully he does) and so if he cant get to the line that well then he is like a Monta Ellis in product.

He's a small forward.
We actually have a legit looking team now. I seem him at worse turning into another Matt Barnes for this team or even a poor man’s Iggy. I’ll take either one for the low rate we’re getting him at!
He’s not close to a Poor Man’s Iggy.

I didn't say he was yet.
But in this up tempo system and with his upside he can be displayed as one hopefully cheating a team outta value for him if we ever decide to trade him haha
Most players described as a “poor man’s” anyone suck. When that’s the major selling point, don’t buy.

I think he was more described as a "mini-LeBron"
than a poor man’s LeBron.
I must look like a dork.

A reasonable “we need a warm body!” pickup. Carney isn’t particularly impressive, but I’m comfortable with him taking minutes from Devean George at the 3. Plus, he’s even got some upside. I’m marginally pleased with this signing, which is about as excited as I get about 10th men.

We need to sign amundson next, then I'll be happy.
Curry/bell/Lin
Ellis/Williams
Dwright/carney/radman
Lee/Amundson/bwright

Looking good.. Add another center to a 1 year contract and we have a decent bench
with our current schemes
on offense, the basketball IQ really isn’t an issue
ironically Nelson’s defensive rotations require more mental work than the offensive ones

the inability to shoot might be a problem.

still need a solid big
Resign Chris Hunter,we still some bulk inside-Gadzuric… please
Dr. Jeff
Gadzooks is a big zero, but if all we want is a big dude to take up space for 6-8 minutes, grab a couple boards, and give a few hard fouls, he’ll almost certainly be no worse at that than Chris Hunter. He’s roughly the same size as Hunter and a much better rebounder (though C-Hunt is a better shooter and is less ugly).
There will be no extra point!

Fesenko
He is big, great passer, and he takes right shots. Young with good price tag.
by ILoveWarriorsGirls on Sep 3, 2010 10:27 PM PDT up reply actions
He's still available
Last Fesenko report was that Utah and Fesenko were at an impass as Utah low balled him. The interest remained mutual so they were going to take their time on negotiations. Don’t really see it happening though. After aquiring Jefferson and Bell and lugging Kirilenkos contract the Jazz cannot make him much of an offer. Like to have him as he played Bynum pretty well in the Playoffs.

Yeah, there was risk of him being overpaid because of that.

I could have sworn...
that I saw somewhere he signed a 3 year, 9 million dollar contract with them. You have to remember that Bynum’s knee was it its worst against the Jazz. He was solid in the first 2, but he started looking slow and broken in Games 3 and 4. I doubt that was much of Fesenko’s doing.
Is Don Nelson going to Hawaii forever now?
when? how much?
I didn’t hear about that

One year & not a lot of money --- pretty good signing
He’s not great but it’s not like the Warriors put out a lot of money/years for him. Pretty solid deal that adds some more depth to the 3 which makes me happy.
Only position I’m really hoping to get some decent talent now is 5 but most of the league wants centers so this probably won’t happen. Wonder what’s Amundson price tag? Considering how long he’s been unsigned, perhaps he’s over pricing himself off the market.
I think Amundsons price tag was 3MIL
but it may go down as training camps approach. Strange how his agent stated that a decision would be made that week. Its been 2 weeks since then?? Wonder what the hold up is?
always worried about guys with low b-ball IQs, who are also cheap
hard not to read something into that, you know?

For filling out the end of the bench
A #16 pick with foot speed and lateral quickness aint bad at all.
keep on truckin...
I'm confused tho
Hoopshype sez: ‘mediocre defender’
Draft express sez: ‘can defend multiple positions’
WTF???
I guess he’s a mediocre defender at multiple positions…lol
keep on truckin...
Hoopshype's details on players are not really that good.
They have B-Wright’s same info up since 07 when he got drafted.
announcement may be coming Wed

"It’s frickin’ Sisyphean to be a Warriors Fan."
I posted this on the FanShot before I saw this FanPost:
Rodney Carney is possibly the fastest player with the ball in his hands. He’s also one of the more explosive players in the game.
I think Warriors fans will enjoy watching him as long as he gets minutes.
