Golden State Of Mind to attend Warriors Tweedia Day
Good news. I will be representing Golden State Of Mind at Tweedia/Media Day at the Warriors practice facility next Monday morning. Aside from traditional media, there will be 9 other bloggers there, from what I've learned. (I also heard on Twitter that Tim Kawakami of the SJ Mercury will actually not be there, so that is rather curious.)
I'm not quite sure what to expect, except not any real basketball actually being played, but I did hear that we bloggers would not be able to do one-on-one interviews with players. However, I presume we would be able to gather around and lob some questions in there, as is probably taught in journalism bootcamp.
Should be a fun experience, but I'm here to serve you, folks. In fact, there tends to be a lot of natural competition between blogs/bloggers, even those that root for the same team, but I'm definitely not going to make my experience about that, although at the same time I'm not going to be surprised if other blogs are going to act competitively. I'm not going to hold that against them, either. It's the nature of the beast.
In the comments, let me know what you'd like me to report on, what questions you'd like me to ask and to whom, and I'll try my best. I am your conduit. (Comments from commenters who are obviously trying to be funny at the expense of being real and respectful will be ignored, of course.)
I'll be live-tweeting from my Twitter account @poormanscommish and I think I will also try sync'ing with GSoM's Twitter account, @unstoppablebaby. We'll see how that goes. Pictures? Yes! (I mean, I'll try.)
I will definitely be trying to answer questions real-time on Twitter, too, so don't be afraid to send me a tweet. Then when I get back, a blogpost to summarize.
Again, this is Monday morning from about 10:30am to 1:00pm. Btw, big shout out to Atma Brother ONE, Fantasy Junkie, Raymond Ridder (Warriors Head of PR), Dan Martinez (asst PR), and especially YOU READERS for making this happen!

10 bloggers? should be more
gee, i’m glad there will be some rep from this blog. i mean, geoff lepper is officially a blogger right? why brand this event tweedia day if they’re only inviting 10 extra members of the press. instead they have a huge amount of applications only to include an extra 10? what’s social media about that? what type of extra buzz will this create?
boo warriors. this is just pure dumb hype. i’m glad they are having you there PMC. it would be shocking if they didn’t as this place has more influence than any of the traditional media outlets.
my only question is will “flunkster dude” be in attendance. i was excited to see a fan fest type of event to drum up season tix sales and other stuff. yes, i feel burned that i even threw my hat in the ring. had i known they were only going to invite 10 bloggers… instead, they opted all of us unwitting applicants into their email marketing plan. no thanks.
I think it was important for them to pick the right candidates. There’s going to be a lot of regular media members there too, so it wouldn’t be fair to those guys, who do it for a living, to crowd the area with a bunch of non-qualified, non-media members.
I am familiar with about half of the guys that were picked and I think they’re all very quality bloggers/social media personalities. It’s pretty exciting for these guys to be able to go, so I would lay off the negativity.
I don’t know what the bottom line for the Warriors PR department is, but they are pretty good at what they do, whether it’s Cohan-influenced or not. They’re embracing social media and I think that’s a good thing.

I did not apply but when I saw who they picked, I thought they didn’t really give “outsiders” a chance. But after knowing who they picked, it makes sense. These bloggers actually do a good job and if anything, it would have been a slap in their faces if normal guys got picked. You need to be an active member of the blogosphere to have been considered (i.e. you need to be someone who’s actually trying to be heard).
Posts on GSoM hardly count.

BTW, Geoff Lepper is a member of the Bay Area News Group as far as I'm concerned
So I don’t think he would have qualified. The guys that were chosen aren’t employed by the media.
