Ugh, sucks if true.

Why on earth would you rather have Barron than Amundson? Barron’s old (29) and has logged a grand total of 7 NBA games in which he hasn’t sucked. He’s an inefficient scorer, crappy at rebounding, and worthless at defending the rim (a bad trait when Lee is your starting PF). I’d rather have Chris Hunter than Barron.

There will be no extra point!

I’m OK with Hunter as well, I was just looking at size as a backup for Andy.

Fair enough, but despite Lou’s inferior height, he’s a better shotblocker and rebounder than Barron.

If Amundson is really New Awlins bound, it may be time to kick the tires on Dwayne Jones…

There will be no extra point!

Barron is a 7 footer who averaged a double-double last year? Does he have a murder rap or something? Are the stats misleading?

Yeah

I was also surprised when I found out he averaged a double-double.

Small sample size of 7 games. However he did average 33 min’s in those 7 games so take that for what it’s worth which I’m thinking is not much.

But again we are looking for a backup, someone to maybe absorb some fouls and change things up a little, if he has a defined roll (I know not likely with Nellie) he may be worth looking at.

Are the stats misleading?

In seven games? Quite likely.

NBA career per 36 (1369 minutes total):
12.8 pts (.438) / 8.6 reb / 1.1 ast / 0.4 blk / 2.0 tov / 4.4 pf

Blecch. Beyond the dubious “seven footer” distinction, what’s to like? I’m pretty sure the NBA-DL scrap heap contains players capable of averaging better than 45% TS and fewer than ten personal fouls per blocked shot.

There will be no extra point!

You doubt he’s actually 7 feet tall, or you doubt it matters? That foul rate is pretty awful. Still, if we are stockpiling warm bodies, I’d rather have them be of the larger variety.

Sorry for the ambiguity. If he doesn’t (1) board, (2) block shots, or (3) score efficently, I doubt his height matters.

Amundson may be smaller, but he plays bigger.

There will be no extra point!

Barron’s inability to block shots is quite evident, and quite offensive. I’m like 3-ft tall with shoes on with a 2-inch vertical and I have always been able to get clean blocks in pick-up games. Defense in basketball is so easy! How complicated is it? Switch or don’t switch. stay down if you’re bigger, get scrappy if you’re smaller. It boggles the mind how guys with length can be poor defenders. Everybody wants to break ankles these days, but they don’t even box out on defense! Barf! OK I’m done ranting…

already posted yesterday, and still nothing official

There was already a fanshot about this yesterday, and nowhere in the Newsday article does it say he’s signing with the Hornets. It says they APPEAR to be the frontrunner.

Yahoo posted this under their Rumors section, making their own speculation based off what the article says.

Nothing is confirmed

So, I still say Lou to the Warriors can happen.
