Potential trades that would lift the w's into legit playoff/champ contenders
Inside presence is extremely important in the NBA, doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out but with the strength of the Western conference, it is an absolute must. If the Warriors can flip our combo of expiring deals, young bigs, and maybe a draft pick into a legit monster to flank D. Lee, the W's will be in business to give the Lake show, Spurs, and Mavs a run for their money. If we can give up Gadzuric, Bell, B. Wright, Amundson, draft picks, and our trade exemption for either Zach Randolph in Memphis or Elton Brand in Philadelphia, or David West in New Orleans, we can almost guarantee a playoff push in April and get to at least the second round. The numbers for both players match up when I did the trade using ESPN Trade Machine though Philly is more likely to pull off the trade considering the production their getting from Brand in their offense, and their state of affairs.
Brand has 3 years left on his deal and I'm sure Philly wants out as much as Brand might and Philly would have 13 million come off their books instantly. If they are looking to trade Iguodala and are successful, the extra cap space would help them in the summer sign a free agent such as Jason Richardson or Caron Butler, which i'm sure they'd pursue heavily and succeed. For Memphis and New Orleans, Z-Bo/D. West are already in their final year of their contracts. D.West declined to extend out of frustrations with the organization (or disorganization) in New Orleans. Memphis declined to extend Z-Bo's contract which probably has spurned him. I can imagine both are ready for greener pastures. If we can send Memphis or New Orleans some draft picks to sweeten the deal, a first rounder this year...maybe, we'd have a chance at either and there'd be no doubt we could re-sign one or the other because of our potential and fan base. Z-Bo and David West are the prototypical 20 point and 10 board Power Forward beasts that we really need to scare these teams in the West and we have enough shooters on the squad to give him the space to work, something they lack in Memphis and New Orleans. Same goes for Brand and Philly. All three havent been in a run and gun system but I imagine that they would thrive in our system, especially with our pick and roll with Monta and Curry. All three have the inside presetnce that could draw double teams, something that David Lee cannot command. Inserting either in the starting lineup and putting a healthy Biedrins on the bench as an energy guy would do wonders for our depth and our team, giving Keith Smart a simple yet formidable 10 man rotation. Starting lineups would look like this, PG-Curry, SG-Ellis, SF-D. Wright, PF- Z-Bo or Brand or D. West, C- D.Lee Bench- R.Williams, E. Udoh, A. Law, A. Biedrins, V. Radmanovic (Lets resign Vlad Rad!)
This rotation has definate playoff potential with a perfect mix of young talent, veteran leadership, and a chemistry that could spell disaster for the NBA for the forseeable future. I pray that Larry Riley is thinking the same thing, or is reading this article and gets some ideas percolating into his head, because I really think this puts us in the best position to win fo a long time.

I stopped reading after Elton Brand

Yuck.
Pure awful. Our terrible defense would just get more terrible(Lee is not a center and neither are they). They’re good players, but they all play PF, and we already have ours. What we need is a strong, tall, athletic center that plays defense, and these guys are pretty much the opposite of that as far as big men. All of these are worse ideas than Blatche, which is a bad idea to start with.
Monta.
Marc Gasol/Deandre jordan

Would you like to explain how first?

Elton Brand is back.
I would possibly do a Iggy + Brand deal now. That would be legit.

Hi welcome to the site
If you are going to make a post, don’t do it in all bold. Also use the trade machine its much easier to read

Well
write out the trade and include trade machine links to show that the trades match up salary wise.
It's biodigital jazz, man.

Debatable. His efficiency is up again to his career averages but the rate in which he produces is still a little underwhelming. He’s definitely playing like he’s 31.

Brand and Iggy are expensive, sure, but if we could add them without losing any of our starters we could really have a nice team…
by Uwe Blog on Jan 1, 2011 8:04 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
Well, we would have a nice team until we couldn’t afford to pay Curry because we have 5 players making a ridiculous amount of money.

I’ll take a few winning seasons and clear that hurdle when it comes, thanks. I’ve been following this team passionately since the mid 80’s. If we still suck in three years when Curry’s contract comes up, we’ll end up trading him anyways. Or he’ll sign with the Heat, wanting to win a championship. It sure would be nice to develop some players and win games at the same time.

Elton Brand + Iggy
For Monta + Beans+expirings….how much better off would we really be? I guess we could rise to the level of Philly.
by Only In Fairfax on Jan 2, 2011 2:44 PM PST up reply actions
Brand is not an upgrade unless we trade Lee+expirings for him+Iggy.
Brand+Lee is a TERRIBLE front court. Overrated, overpayed, no defense, soft offense.
Last year, I was considering that Iggy -Brand thing
Because I did think Brand would be healthy and improve over last year. I’ve shied away from it. There’s no way we wouldn’t have to give up some of our starters anyway, and it would be more than just Biedrins. And we have to be conscious of hemming ourselves in salary wise, particularly with older players.
One thing to keep in mind, if you want to resign Vlad Rad, than that’s 6.8 million we won’t be able to trade in expirings.

nothing more need be said

How about this trade – Biedrins and BW for marc gasol….we need centers not Pf’s

I'm sure glad we got DLee over that bum Amare...
…not! I’m still conviced that David Lee does not belong in Golden State. I would much rather take ZBo at the 4 than Lee, and that’s saying something – that is, I don’t want ZBo within 10 feet of our training facility. It was a dumb move this summer and its stil la dumb move now. But something has to be done about the 4 and 5 spots, I think we solidify those we are making progress.
