Good to know, Warriors are wiling to go into luxury tax

Atleast we know that won’t hold back any trades to make us better…

by tafkasam on Jan 20, 2011 9:16 PM PST reply actions

Very refreshing, he knows a little about basketball. He’s diligent and relentless. I like it.

by BayLife5518 on Jan 20, 2011 9:43 PM PST reply actions

He's open and honest, unlike Cohan

And he has high aspirations for our team and is willing to spend money to that ends. At this stage, what more can we really ask?

by War Years Legacy on Jan 23, 2011 1:15 PM PST up reply actions

It seems that (in no particular order):

1) He wants Carmelo and would trade Curry or Ellis to get him
2) David Lee’s injury wasn’t Abedenour’s fault perse, but the team didn’t have a physician available to them
3) Really wants Biedrins to succeed and become more of an offensive threat and acknowledges there aren’t many centers out there, or the ones that are good, are very expensive/unavailable. He said there’s a few guys in FA next offseason. He’s probably talking about Gasol and Yao.
4) He’s happy with the core (Monta, Curry, Lee) and would probably be comfortable rolling with them for at least this season if they don’t get a Carmelo-type player…and really, there’s only one player in that category: Carmelo (not necessarily my opinion)
5) He, just like us, is perplexed by Keith Smart’s rotations, but feels he’s getting better. He said Smart has on the chalk board all sorts of different rotation combinations, for what it’s worth.

6) Going into the luxury tax is a non-issue IF it makes the team better, both short and long term. Of course, that may be irrelevant with the CBA/potential lockout. However, it shows that he’s willing to spend money.

I'm assuming #3 is for trade value

He’s worth little now. I have no doubt he’d be moved if an upgrade was a possibility.

But that goes for all positions…

Lacob knows whats up

I hope Carmello is not his next JLin decision? We need real value not fan appeal from our players.

Lights please, lights please, turn off the lights.

Who do you think he's targeting right now for a trade?

He said he’s coo with a big contract especially for expirings

What I would really love to do is to pull off the deal to get a superstar. There’s one or two of them out there.

I’m really curious as two who the second player might be (first being Melo)…

CP3?

Depends on what you consider a star

I’d consider Chris Paul a star.

by BayLife5518 on Jan 21, 2011 12:08 AM PST up reply actions

I wasn't directing the 2nd part to Paul

Oops, pressed post on accident

The rest: I was thinking more along the lines of at what line do you draw star? Is Iggy a star? Billups? Curry ? etc.

He referred to 2 stars, one being Melo. So who is the other guy he’d put in the same class as Melo? Only guy that came to mind with recent trade rumors was CP3

Do you think he's implying 'out there' as in attainable?

Or just speaking in generalities? Deron Williams has an option to opt out next year…

Off the top of my head I’d say Chris Kaman or Spencer Hawes.

then, you need to put those back in the top of yer head

LOL

Off the top of my head I’d say Chris Kaman or Spencer Hawes.

I dont know about yall but im happy Ellison didnt get the team.

by J-RIDAH on Jan 21, 2011 12:22 AM PST reply actions

i get the feeling that monta stays and curry goes..either by the deadline or in the offseason

by currysabeast on Jan 21, 2011 9:50 AM PST reply actions

I dunno about that

If anything, Lacob sounds like he is willing to be patient.
To me, this means that we should be willing to look at a 1-2 year horizon

He must still think this team is pretty good, because he says in the interview that his goal is to get above .500…can’t find the quote now, but it was something like winning 14 of the next 16 games

Curry needs to have a good game soon. I dont wanna see him get traded and I doubt he will anytime soon. He just needs to get back to where he was earlier this season before the ankle issue.

I heard he said Monta is the "franchise guy" ?

But before the season he didn’t even include him in our top 2? Sounds like he’s just trying to boost our teams trade value, and appease fans who were angry when he didn’t do it the first time?

Doubt it, he's a pretty honest guy

He explained that summer interview tons of times now , if he was boosting trade value I doubt he would have said he was disappointed with Steph so far

I didn't see he said he was disappointed with Steph

He said there isn’t a player in his draft class that he’d trade him for.

I don't remember which interview it was

He talked about Monta surpassing expectations and hoping to get more from Stef or something along those lines

Seems like trades in NBA are unlikely until Carmelo situation is resolved.

-Q: Yeah, I think everybody’s waiting for a certain mega-deal to go through or not.

-LACOB: Right. So it is not easy

Just wish the Nuggets would bite the bullet already & ship him to NY or rent him to a contender. Now that NJ is out, don’t think there’s any more fools out there for them to swindle.

by srsrs on Jan 25, 2011 9:34 AM PST reply actions

Someone mentioned Dallas as a possible trade partner

Idk much about their contracts and team dynamics, but they have pieces, and Melo, even for a year, might be attractive to Cuban.
Wherever he goes, if it does turn into a multi-team deal, we might be able to cherry pick a player or two, without giving up much, depending on the details.
