Redwood Shores, California The First Ever "GSoM-It" Shootaround/Game, for the cure. (of the TANK.)

Mg4939-m_medium

"Rest in peace, Marine World Africa USA."

This TANK has really been a bummer and a half for us Dubs fans, but I got one bad-ass solution.

Star-divide

It's that time of year, or at least it should be. There is no Association hoops. I should be hearing Jim and Fitz doing their pregame thing. I should be hearing "Welcome to the Jungle" before tip-off. I should be hearing the whistle in the first 30 seconds of the game for when Beans fouls someone. If I were def, all this would make more sense.

ANYWAYS...

I got this Idea from Atma's game one post. I read the comments and the fans were hurting. So I though, "If an international superstar and Basketball Husband like Matt Barnes can have an organized hoop game, why can't the fans?" Thus the idea of the non-charity charity game came about.

This is a call to action: I need help getting the ball rolling on this. Anyone willing to help, please post your suggestions or any other helpful things. Please bring balls.

I’d be down for some ballin’. Idea would be in Dream Courts in Hayward. Lots of decent courts and that’s also where the Dakota Wizards held their open tryouts.

I play there on the weekends

There’s a $7 fee to play but there are 3 full courts that you can use. Very nice courts too. In the mornings it’s pretty empty

Great idea!

I’d be definitely down to play and meet many of you guys in person. I don’t know too many available places to play at really.

If it’s outdoor, one of my favorite places to play at used to be at EA (Electronic Arts) in Redwood Shores. I haven’t been there in a long time though, so don’t know how the conditions are there now.

The courts are still excellent

I second the motion. Let’s campaign for playing here!

love it!!

somewhere with a few courts, so we can get a bunch of games going

if it’s going to be outdoors, we’d better do it soon!!! rain and cold are coming

I will wear my Biedrens jersey

Dude, how big are you imagining this thing getting?

I think you should at least put up a poll with a couple of dates and/or locations to gauge interest.

Also, just to toss it out there as a starting point, what about the friday or saturday before the currently proposed start date?
Like, December 9th or 10th

yup, we do need a date...

and if it’s gonna be next month, an indoor venue would be best.
the main thing we need here is awareness and people down to go. i’ve spread word, but i need some more help with that.
i might be able to get foothill college, but some people might see that as a bit of a drive.

hey dude

If this is really going to happen, we need to set a date ASAP!!
holidays are coming, and folks are going to be too busy

…Location, I say just pick one that seems realistic and go with it

In general (and this is just my personal preference), I think we keep it low-key and relatively small…mostly because I don’t think any of us wants to go through the hassle of planning a major event

I think a free outdoor court would be the easiest, those courts at Redwood Shores sounds fine. Maybe like BBQ and stuff right after.

As another option: I play basketball on friday nights in Oakland/Berkeley.
It is walking distance from BART, and indoor court, and we can rent it out for relatively cheap (I think we usually pay about 100 bucks for 3 hours ($10/person)), also right across from a decent sport for food and beer (Barclays, or Zacharies pizza is close too) the court is kinda small (so games of 4-on-4, and not much space for spectators though..but definitely feasible

I guess it’s the lockout dragging on me, but I’m sick of talk, let’s make it happen!!

also, new name suggestion

let’s call it: The lockout Protest (and game)

get some press coverage, bring in some season ticket holders to vent for a little bit before the game

I say lets call it the "GSoM-it 2011"

I was hoping for next Saturday or sunday at EA’s courts. around noon-ish if its not raining. i do feel iffy about it without some admin support. so anyone of the numerous admins willing to vouch, let me know…

ANYONE THAT CAN MAKE IT TO THIS DATE AND TIME, REPLY TO GET A PROPER COUNT. AND DON’T FORGET TO REC THIS POSTING PLEASE! (we get more eyes on this.)

I'm in!

Also, you should revise this post or start a new one – Maybe have a poll that would allow people to say if they were coming, now that time an location are confirmed

Noon-ish should be good. It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but when I used to go, it seemed like the crowds would usually be there in the morning. Then it would eventually clear up by early afternoon.

Hopefully the weather will be clear too.

Next Saturday is Thanksgiving weekend

Not sure if people will be available since it’s a holiday weekend and also the weekend when people love to shop.

Hahhaa

I just went shopping, and talk is still cheap

But sounds like we got team guidelines – geezers versus youngins
