Why don't we get in on the Paul trade?

And no, not for Chris Paul.

Why don't we take Houston's role in this trade?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7yqt458

We'd be sending a better Kevin Martin, probably a push when comparing D. Lee to Scola, although pure basketball heads would probably rate Scola higher, and Udoh is better than Dragic. NOLA would send Ariza and Paul to LA, with LA sending Caracter, and possibly including a 1st round pick from each team to NOLA to finish up.

I think Gasol is worth trading Ellis and Lee for, but this might not be a popular viewpoint. I think this trade would be approved by the NBA. What are your thoughts?

Well

we would be giving up way too much. why wouldnt we just do that directly with the Hornets and get Paul and either keep him or flip him for something more important or something we would use?

If we get in on this trade it should be to try and keep these teams facilitate the trade and acquire Okafor.

Rockets get
Gasol

Lakers get:
Paul
Biedrins

Hornets get:
Scola
Dragic
Martin
Odom
Udoh
Ebanks
and various picks from LAL or HOU

Warriors get:
Okafor

This solves all the problems. The Lakers DO NOT get a trade exception because they are forced to take on AB. The Hornets get another young player to build on and they save a lot of cap room with Okafor headed out. Warriors get their center. Houston gets and gives the same outcome.

Agreed...

we would be doing the Lakers a huge favor. Really all they would be giving up for Paul and Ariza is Gasol and Caracter…they get him for free then pretty much. But yeah I think we should try to go after Okafor because he could give us 10 and 10. and he is a solid defender. We should get this done!!! By the way, (if this doesn’t go down with us getting Okafor) we should go after Marc Gasol. He is huge, can defend, is young & developing and already has offensive game. If he comes here he could avg. close to 20 pts (not to mention rebounds as well) but he is playing with Zach Randolph who carries the offense. I would be willing to max out or near max out a contract for him. I say offer as high as we can and cut Biedrins if that needs to be done to get him. I don’t know how high Mem. will go to keep him even though I know they really want to. They already have a heavy payload with Conley, Randolph and Gays contracts.

I kind of like it because we basically trade

Biedrins for Okafor which is exactly why this trade would never happen, we’d have to give up more. Okafor is good, Biedrins has not been good in a long time.

I don’t want to help make the Lakers better just so all the annoying Lakers fans here in the Bay can continue to talk crap about the hometown Warriors.

I re-thought about it.

If Pau Gasol can help the Warriors become a Playoff team (which he most likely could), then I wouldn’t mind CP3 going to the Lakers.

Yes.

The league is better when the Lakers suck.

We're trying to

but by the fact that nothing has been publicized of the Warriors in this deal that it’s probable we haven’t really been able to get in or we get screwed if we try to go in so we avoid it.
