With NY Knicks snatching T Chandler at the last minute shattering the Warriors priority 1, 2 and 3.... First off, I'm shocked the Knicks did that in the first place. Yes they needed a Center, however they could have gone with a lower profile Center (i.e Kwame, Pryzbilla) and still keep Billups. Now they have the best frontcourt in the NBA but are extremely week in the backcourt, at both guard positions.
Well, if the Warriors really wanted to change the culture and get the defensive mentality from the players they wanted. Riley can propose the Knicks Monta in exchange for Chandler, although Knicks would be reluctant to add a third player who's known for his offense, Monta can play both guard position (or at least they think that), he would be a great fit under D'Antoni's system and let's face it, he'll keep the Knicks fans entertained.
If Riley is able to pull it off, now you can move to step 2. Call the 76ers, package Biedrins & Amundson (& Klay if needed) in exchange for Iguodala. With this trade the Sixers get a true Center at a cheap price and an expiring in Lou, they would shed a lot of salary by making this move.
Now you have a lineup of Curry/Iguodala/DWright/Lee/Chandler...
Mark Jackson's system would need to change a little bit since by now having 3 great defenders in the lineup, the offensive game might start declining. The ideal case would have been for Chandler to sign with us this offseason while we still had Monta so that we could have kept a mixture of great offense and a defensive anchor at the Center position but in my opinion, this would be the next best scenario...
This deal wouldn't happen before the season started since I believe there's a waiting period after signing a FA so it would have to happen during the course of the season.
