Conflicted.

I don’t know whether to be happy for Klay or sad for Biedrins.

Is that Jenkins on the bottom???!?!!

Random thought of the day- Klay will have a better career than Evan Turner and Wesley Johnson.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 16, 2011 2:17 PM PST reply actions

My random thought of the day:

I’m tired of all of the Tebow coverage on ESPN

by Pippen on Dec 16, 2011 2:25 PM PST up reply actions

I’ve never seen anything like it, Skip went to Denver today and they devoted the whole 1st take show to Tebow. It makes you despise Tebow even if your not a Raiders fan.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 16, 2011 2:28 PM PST up reply actions

god i hate tebow

I am a raiders fan.

But really, i’ll give credit where due. Von Miller is the man. Yet you wouldn’t know it. Apparently Tebow’s prayer is leading them to victory. I don’t see anywhere near the same hype for rookie Andy Daulton

by tafkasam on Dec 16, 2011 2:55 PM PST up reply actions

Von Miller is a beast. Not just DROY candidate but DPOY conversation as well.

Hate to say it but, #99 across the Bay looks like the real deal as well.

"I thought it was going in," Warriors center Chris Hunter said. "It looked like the invisible man tipped it away at the last second."

I don't understand the people praising Tebow's football skills

I do find it entertaining seeing teams meltdown every 4th Qtr/OT against the Broncos lol.

I am a Niners fan though, would probably be different if I were a Raiders fan. Like you said though, why not such media press for Andy Dalton, who is running the offense of a playoff team, or heck, even Cam Newton, he’s a shoe in for rookie offensive player of the year.Or like Kennote mentioned, why no press for the Bronco’s defense? The media is quick to point out the Niner’s success is Special Teams, Defense, and just enough Offense, but in Denver it’s Tebow, Tebow, and more Tebow? What?

It's might be close

But I like Klay’s game. Turner has a lot of talent, but he doesn’t really have a true position. I think Klay is gonna have a much more seamless transition to the NBA game.

by Pippen on Dec 16, 2011 2:28 PM PST up reply actions

I think Klay will surprise a lot of the naysayers

I’m not sure he’ll be a good defensive player, though I will say if from day 1 coaches are forcing defense on him, it has to help (as opposed to monta and curry who got defensive hall-passes for their careers.)

I think Klay is a lot more than just a long range shooter. Pretty good all around game, and feel for the game. Ran some nice Pick and Rolls (haven’t seen many ‘shooters’ do that, or reggie either) for ex.

Another random thought- Chales Jenkins is buffer than Udoh
http://www.nba.com/warriors/photogallery/media_day_2011_9.html

Buffest point guard in the NBA? No homo.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 16, 2011 2:30 PM PST reply actions

actually

did you see the udoh/barnett interview? he looks like he added a lot of muscle

by asanddubs on Dec 16, 2011 3:55 PM PST up reply actions

Lol

Calling a guy buff doesn’t need a “no homo”. Now my crush on Steph Curry… that’s a different story. No homo.

I cant stand that phrase no homo.....I laugh every time I hear it.

We don’t care if you’re homo or not.

Klay Thompson's is a BEAST in 2K12!

He drains everything! Let’s see if he can do that in real life too..

What is Dominic Mcguire’s perimeter grade on 2K12? I’ve been on so-com lately.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 16, 2011 3:02 PM PST up reply actions

How'd you get the rookies on there?

That looks like a rebound.

Meaning Klay probably got called for a loose ball foul.

by Spider Jerusalem on Dec 16, 2011 3:36 PM PST reply actions

Then does that mean

CJ was trying to box out Biedrins? Doesn’t look like he did it right.

by JoesBurlyCurls on Dec 16, 2011 3:43 PM PST up reply actions

Um maybe they’re on the same squad?

by bObaBaLLa on Dec 16, 2011 10:09 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, looks like a foul

Beans probably took an elbow to the back of the head on this one

I like the aggressiveness

Klay will be a good move. I am pretty confident in that.

Atleast I am confident we didn’t pass on anyone will regret unlike say Udohnal

by tafkasam on Dec 16, 2011 3:44 PM PST up reply actions

Burks said he didnt really try to play defense in college, I was done with him when he said that.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 16, 2011 5:47 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah that's not what he said.

Still, I’d take a guy who didn’t play defense and didn’t try to play defense over a guy who was definitely trying really hard and still failing.

by Spider Jerusalem on Dec 16, 2011 6:17 PM PST up reply actions

So you think Burks is a better scorer in the NBA than Klay is right now? Its gonna be interesting watching both of those guys this season.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 16, 2011 6:58 PM PST up reply actions

I think Klays a really safe bet

Excellent pedigree
High skill level
Jerry West rates him

and honestly…
Excellent hoops IQ. Watch him, he knows how to play. Makes the subtle smart plays like Curry or Battier. I am at a loss at people who don’t think he’ll be an NBA player. I’m not sure how good, but i have a feeling he’ll be starter or 6th man level. High rotation player eitherway. In a weak draft at 11, ill take it

Why do people not buy this? Kahwi or Burks. They could be good, but honestly… how many super athletic players with massive holes in their game who fail? I’m just not buying we passed on next Marion and DWade. More like Al Thornton and Nick Young

I’m just saying, i don;‘t get why people wouldn’t be optimistic about Klay. They love Curry. Very similar players. Amazing shooters, high hoops iq, rebound their positions, great understanding of game.

by tafkasam on Dec 16, 2011 7:42 PM PST up reply actions

Finding a SG who can shoot and not really guard is easy.

As the Warriors have proven over the past few seasons. Finding a good to elite perimeter defender is more difficult.

I’d rather take a shot at the latter.

by Spider Jerusalem on Dec 16, 2011 8:21 PM PST up reply actions

As to why I dislike Klay, it's because I watched his entire career at WSU.

I don’t like how he plays the game. His attitude and entitlement annoy me, and he’s way too easily rattled/scared.

Steph is the opposite of that. He was a winner at a tiny school. He displayed tons of heart. Klay’s been a career loser who couldn’t lead his team.

by Spider Jerusalem on Dec 16, 2011 8:25 PM PST up reply actions

Look at this vid of Klay from todays practice. Skip to the 30:00 mark

http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/2011_training_camp_central.html

Imagine him and Steph on the floor at the same time with Dorell on the wing.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 16, 2011 9:54 PM PST reply actions

Yup…the boy can shoot. I love his form. It’s so effortless. Ever since I saw him play in the Impact League in Vegas, I couldn’t wait for the season to start (then we had the lockout…grrrrr)

by bObaBaLLa on Dec 16, 2011 10:11 PM PST up reply actions

Your right, my comeback is if open jumpers did not matter at all then why do teams have guys shoot them at personal workout when they are thinking about drafting them? We’ll see very soon if he’s a good shooter in real games or not.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 17, 2011 10:03 AM PST up reply actions

why do teams have guys shoot them at personal workout when they are thinking about drafting them

There’s actually a little bit of pressure in that situation, though. It’s like a job interview.

by Evanz on Dec 17, 2011 11:19 AM PST up reply actions

Its pressure shooting 40% from the 3 in the pac-12 aswell.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 17, 2011 12:49 PM PST up reply actions

Obviously, when you have guys who shoot from waay behind the line like Klay and Steph did in college I say its a safe assumption that it will translate to the next level.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 17, 2011 2:34 PM PST up reply actions

sure

but shooting open jumpers in a gym, which is what you were talking about, doesn’t mean that much

by Evanz on Dec 17, 2011 1:08 PM PST up reply actions

It was enough to impress Jerry West. Like I said, soon we’ll see if he can do it in the NBA. I say he can.

by J-RIDAH on Dec 17, 2011 2:35 PM PST up reply actions

The thing that you can take away from the video is his repeatable, fluid stroke. That is one pretty shot. It’s not going to break down with a little big of pressure.

by Pippen on Dec 17, 2011 1:16 PM PST up reply actions

What it doesn't show is whether he has a quick release

that’s what really makes Curry so special, is how fast he can get his shot off

by Evanz on Dec 17, 2011 2:52 PM PST up reply actions

He seems to have a very quick release from what I’ve seen and the scouting reports on him tend to back this up. At 6’6" without shoes, I don’t imagine he will have any issues getting his shot off.

by Pippen on Dec 17, 2011 5:37 PM PST up reply actions

I wasn’t suggesting that because he is tall he can get his shot off faster. I just meant that having a height advantage will help him get his shot off against shorter defenders. With his combination of his size and quick release, he should have plenty of open looks. Due to Curry’s lack of size, it is more vital for him to have a quick release than it is for Thompson and Wright.
