Curry's MRI. Ok !

Warriors can breathe a sigh of relief. Curry's injury is not as bad as we thought initially. I have to say I was dreading it quite a bit especially seeing his reaction on the court and players reaction around him.

But this still raises questions on his long term durability. He seems to developing a worrisome pattern of chronic stress on that ankle. Brandon Roy comes to mind.

The other issue is that his defense is already suspect and ankles are maybe the most important body part when it comes to defending as a point guard. I'm also worried it may diminish the aggressiveness of what is already one of his flaws.

Thank God!

After the lockout mess, and the who-cares-if-they-play prevailing overall attitude, to watching them and thinking OK great, the worst of my worries was the cursed Warriors are yet again to suffer another setback. THANK GOD ITS NOT TO BE GO WARRIORS!!!!

Yeah

I think Roy lost a ton of cartilage over the years from getting it flushed out over and over.

Jimmer must be thinking....

Whoa, Curry nearly killed his ankle trying to guard me….and they say that I am not very athletic?

have their been any guys forced to retire early because of recurring ankle problems?

I know there have been plenty of big men done in by foot problems, but can’t really recall any ankles ending someone’s career

Grant Hill came close

I can’t think of any young players who were completely knocked out by ankle problems.

grant hill

if I recall correctly, I think one of his big complaints with the Pistons is that they kept rushing him back from the injuries

Steph’s ankle was pretty messed up for all of last year, pretty clear it is nowhere near 100% yet…

High Tops

Curry’s going to have to go to the high tops, i think. At least for a couple years.

once you turn an ankle like curry, you’ll turn it again and again and again. just need to minimize how bad those turns are…

I’m sorry, but changing shoes is not going to do anything. Shoes do not prevent ankle injuries. A tape job and wearing an ankle brace like a MedSpec ASO brace will do him good (he will just have to get use to it). I don’t tape my ankles but wearing that brace has saved me from potential pain many times.

I am not concerned about Curry’s ankles as long as he takes precautions to keep them secure. He’s young and foolish to think that he can continue to play without an ankle brace (on top of a tape job).

Glad he's ok

But this still concerns me. It didn’t even look like he rolled it that bad, and I was surprised to see how he reacted to it on the court. Hopefully he’s ok going forward.

Same thing happened last year.

He rolled it on his own. Nobody touched him, he wasn’t running or jumping, he was just moving. Not a good sign.

Roy isn’t too comparable because his knee problems had gone back to prior to even being in the league and actually effected his draft position because teams were worried about it. There was no worry about Curry’s ankle or ankles when he was drafted. Also ankle issues are easier to manage than knees.

This is going to be something I’d like to see our organization be very cautious about. Having Ish or Jenkins in a little bit longer for the first few weeks won’t hurt as much losing Curry for the whole season..
