Some interesting exerts-

Boltuch said that since Lacob and Guber purchased the team last year, at least three females have been victimized by sexual harassment, including members of the Warriors Girls dance team who were forced to perform "for the personal enjoyment of Lacob and/or his golfing friends," the lawsuit states.

----

Juanika Ellis first called Smith and revealed that she knew of the "secret" cellphone and accused Smith of having an affair with her husband. About a week later, according to the lawsuit, Smith was called into a meeting with the organization’s human resources director during which she was accused of texting Ellis during "off work hours."

Make of it what you will. I'll leave my personal opinion's in comment section.

It seems Smith is set on smearing Warriors new ownership. In my opinion, this sounds like someone bitter about being laid off.

The Warrior girls accusation is just stupid. “Golf buddies”, likely means potential sponsors or investors. Warrior girls are paid entertainers. So um, having them dance at what can only be seen as an event to raise money/investment in the team hardly seems like sexual harassment.

how can you even call asking a paid dancer to dance at a team event, sexual harassment?

Sounds to me like someone just trying to dirty ownerships name.

Being called a “Warrior Girl” is in its self sexual harassment.

Having a scantily clad lady dance for our entertainment is sexual harassment.

Don’t even get me started on the calendar..

Hopefully so.

I could go on for days about gold diggers… it sickens me. I just don’t buy the fact that you are afraid to come forward because you dont think the Dubs will do anything about it, but once you get laid off… you are hellbent on tarnishing the organization. I hope she gets blacklisted in the community development sector.

Everyone's quick to defend Ellis and the Warriors

just as anyone would suspect. We don’t know why she was fired; the team hasn’t said why. She was fired a week after telling the organization (allegedly) that a reporter inquired about the Ellis relationship and his sexual advances…

They are, right now, just allegations — and of course if they are founded to be true, she should get paid to make up for lost past and future wages — but this kind of thing is becoming more common as the SFgate article points out, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why the Warriors would (allegely) attempt to back Ellis and sweep the “relationship” under the rug. If they needed to get rid of someone, who do you think it would be?

But no one has pointed out that, regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit, Ellis is kind of scummy for going Favre on a Warriors employee while married. Scandalous…

Right, but Lacob’s group had taken over 2 months prior and were in the process of evaluating every one. I’m sorry, if I was Lacob I’d immediately fire her too. That shows literally no professionalism.

when new ownership takes over, you have to know you’re being evaluated.

But no one has pointed out that, regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit, Ellis is kind of scummy for going Favre on a Warriors employee while married. Scandalous…

Maybe it’s cynical, but I imagine every warrior has something similar. Some girl on the side, the road etc.

by tafkasam on Dec 22, 2011 12:11 PM PST up reply actions

right

they may have fired the broad for the relationship, but why not fire Ellis? We both know the answer to that one, and if Ellis was the pursuer, there is no grounds to fire her and not him.

And when it becomes public that others have side hoes on the road, etc., like we both believe, than I’ll call them scummy too.

by salary_cap on Dec 22, 2011 12:17 PM PST up reply actions

I don't particularly care if Monta was the pursuer

Have you seen any athlete act around women in the organization, cheerleaders etc? Always flirtatious.

I’d care if Monta did anything inappropriate but honestly, from both sides it suggests she INVITED it. “humored him”… that’s a cover for ‘i said flirtatious/slutty things back’.

That won’t stand up in court. "I didn’t mean to say ’you’re so hot’ i just said that cause i feared they’d fire me if i didn’t.

but why does she

lose her job and he doesn’t? That I think is the lawyer’s defense and speaks to the double standard NBA orgs have…no doubt this gets settled out of court for some $$$, which is fine; they both win: the Warriors don’t have to draw this out and the plaintiff gets some $$$.

by salary_cap on Dec 22, 2011 12:32 PM PST up reply actions

I’m speculating here, but I’ll bet there’s a “fraternizing with players” clause in the employee code of conduct for any NBA team that clearly details that it’s the employee’s responsibility to steer clear of that type of interaction with the players.

For example, I know cheerleaders in the NFL are specifically prohibited from interacting with the players on their team.

by Lacob's Ladder on Dec 22, 2011 12:40 PM PST up reply actions

Same type in nba

They try to create as much separation between players and the rest of the org as possible. And, during training they will specifically mention that an employee is not allowed to fraternize with players.

by dsham001 on Dec 22, 2011 2:22 PM PST up reply actions

Right. And the rules of player contracts are spelled out by the collective bargaining agreement.

So you can’t stick that sort of clause in, and there are strict rules about how you can get out of a contract (for example, most people would be fired if they strangled their boss. In the NBA, if you’re a player … not so much).

but why does she lose her job and he doesn’t?

Because one is (probably) an at-will employee while the other is under contract.

Well, I'll say I cannot speak on the matter without all the facts

So speculating off what we’ve heard…

It doesn’t seem that was his first text. It seems there were a string of texts prior with some sort of flirtatious/sexual/nonsexual relationship.

Atleast I assume he didn’t lead with the junk….that’d be very bold. No “hi, sexy, how are you ;)” just “junk!”

Not true. In fact, a lot of us didn’t leap to defend Ellis – and only after the details of her story started to emerge did we begin to have doubts.

But no one has pointed out that, regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit, Ellis is kind of scummy for going Favre on a Warriors employee while married.

Actually, several people have talked about this already.

If you’re going to talk about what “everyone” and “no one” are saying, you really should keep up with the overall conversation.

now guys

who don’t like Monta’s game have even more reason to trade him!!!

by salary_cap on Dec 22, 2011 12:32 PM PST up reply actions

Yup. In fact I feared for the worst for Monta when it was announced that they had solid proof with pics. I was disappointed in Monta because he always came off (at least to me) as someone who really was loyal to his wife and family. You always hear him mention how his wife really helped turn his life and attitude around.

Once more details started emerging, that’s when I started having my doubts about the case, but no matter what happens, my image of Monta as a person is definitely tarnished.

She’s got better size for her position and a cheaper salary so who would the smart owner choose?

I'm glad that it seems like he didn't actually harass her,

but the image I had of him in my mind is forever tarnished. I’d completely forgiven him for lying about the moped accident, and it really seemed like he was more mature. He was becoming a “family man.” Clearly, according to these details in this story, there was some sort of relationship, and Juanika didn’t know about it.

C’mon Monta, you got a family with kids, you should be doing better than this.

Agreed

Infidelity and harassment are completely different things. Infidelity, i’m pretty numb to caring about (among athletes). Harassment, different
