Buyout

Couldn't the Warriors buy out Bell instead of using the amnesty clause on him like they did with Troy Murphy? Or with the new CBA is that against the rules until after we use our amnesty clause. I do not know why Tim Kawakami and Matt Steinmetz have not brought up this point. I am aware Bell has to agree with the buyout and will probably not accept a penny less. If we buyout his contract is it used towards our cap??

Buying out Charlie Bell does not take his salary off the books. It just takes him off the roster.

Why would you buy out Charlie Bell? He’s gonna make the all star game this year! We’re gonna trade Monta and stick Bell in the starting lineup!

What incentive is there for Charlie Bell to take a buyout?

Players take buyouts because there’s a team they’d rather play for, a situation where they can get off the bench, or whatever. It’s worth it to them to give up some money to be in a better basketball situation.

Charlie Bell is a 12th man on an NBA roster. There’s no advantage to him to being a 12th man somewhere else. So why would he give up even one penny of his salary – the last multi-million dollar salary he’ll make?
