How Do We Move On from Chandler/CP3

I was disappointed but understood when the W's did not get Chandler or CP3. I know everyone is very now focused on Marc Gasol, DeAndre Jordan, Samuel Dalembert or Nene but perhaps it would be smarter to consider some other options that might actually make us a better team, even though some may consider these guys lesser individual players. Keep in mind they may not be starters but bench players will be critical based on the number of back to back games (or even three games in three days):

(1) Delonte West - I've always thought this guy had talent. Rather than re-sign Reggie Williams, this guy is much better on both ends of the floor. I know he can be a head case, but if Mark Jackson can make him coachable, he is a steal.

(2) Andrei Kirelinko - When his head is in the game, he really knows how to play on both ends. Great on and off the ball defender. Could hide holes on our defensive end.

(3) Joel Przybilla - Could be a good back up big guy that can make a difference on the defensive end. Definitely worth a look.

(4) Jared Jeffries - Another defensive specialist both on and off the ball. Seems very coachable and could be a defensive force off the bench. Could hide defensive deficiencies of other players.

(5) Kris Humphries - If you can look past the Kardashian crap his stat line is impressive

  • '10-11 Stats:10.0 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 1.1 bpg, 52.7% FG
  • If we don't have too much, this guy would be worth a look.

    (6) Spencer Hawes - No a starter but a guy off the bench that could be a game changer with his ability to stretch the floor as a big man.

    (7) Carl Landry - I think this guy just knows how to play. He could be great off the bench for his defense and ability to hit the outside shot.

I also think we need to be active on the Amnesty Market including Chauncey Billups, Travis Outlaw, and Richard Jefferson. Some of these are veteran players that would mix great with our young guys.

I still have hopes for this season. Lets go W's

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

    Good points

although center is our most pressing need, we could really use a defensive specialist like Kirlenko or Jefferies. My honest opinion is that Udoh should be our starting center, not Biedrins if we don’t pick up anyone. Udoh proved he was a capable defender last year, Mark Jackson should back up all his talk about good defense by starting Udoh(if we don’t get a FA center this off-season.)

I have to say, West is bipolar and that disorder tends to get worse over time. Not always, but I wouldn’t gamble on him, especially since he was once arrested for carrying weapons.

I don’t think Kirilenko would like the Bay Area, by the way. He speaks very highly of Utah and its fans and Utah, the Bay Area is not.

    About West

I would add that he is also not a better offensive player than Reggie. Better defender for sure, but Reggie is actually a damn good scorer.

I heard he doesn't like music.

I've been thinking Dalembert would be a good addition for the Warriors since last season.

He’s not very popular on this site, and I think his potential contribution is being underrated.

    I'd give

AK47 a hard look. Especially if this team is looking to turn it up on the defensive end…

Outbid Kings for Hayes and sign Jefferson after Spurs amnesty him.

    Oh, and re-sign Reggie

TK says that the Warriors were willing to give up to $14M per for Chandler

But they think $15M for Nene is too high

    #smh

If that’s really how the FO is thinking we’re in worse trouble than I thought.

    agreed

    Probably too high for both.

Any word on who’s going after Nene? He was supposed to be the top FA. Seems like things have cooled off lately.

    Probably too high for both.

I think $15M would be too high for Chandler, but not at all for Nene. It’s reasonable (if such a thing exists anymore).

I think Houston has interest in him, as do Indiana and a few other teams. If Indiana or Houston gets him and we don’t, then we really sh!t the bed, as far as I’m concerned.

but is Nene the center we are looking for?

can a front court of Nene and Lee work? (on defense obviously, we’d be great on offense)

Well, first of all Nene doesn't want to play Center

which makes it less likely he’ll want to choose the Dubs.

But, despite not being a great shot blocker, Nene is a very capable and effective defender, especially in the post. Now, can he cover his guy and David Lee’s? I dunno…

    My take on these options

    (1) Delonte West – If the NFL has taught us anything: once a headcase, always a headcase. Not worth the distraction for a young growing team with a new coach

    (2) Andrei Kirelinko – After Baron slammed his nose and then the ball down his throat, would he be willing to come here? Just kidding- I’ve always liked this guy, but I think I remember that he is staying in Russia for now.

    (3) Joel Przybilla – NO NO NO. There is a rumor he is going to retire. I’m thinking with his slowness and age it would not be a good mix for our team. Though Jackson is preaching D, he could also run the fast break quite well.

    (4) Jared Jeffries – How many mins is he really going to get behind DWright? I’m fine with him, but he should have a minimum contract.

    (5) Kris Humphries – I’ll take him at 7mil/year, but do we have the cap room? Can he play center?

    (6) Spencer Hawes – Game changer? I think not.

    (7) Carl Landry – Seems like a guy who can have an impact as a backup. I’d like to have this guy.

Warriors look to be offering DeAndre about $10 mill a year...

    man…that’s pushing it.

    It will get matched

Why would the clips not match when that’s about what they are offering anyway? This is the problem with RFAs: You either offer what they are worth and lose the player since the original team matches or you way over pay to prevent the matching and are stuck in a salary cap situation. No good either way.

No it's not...athletic big men averaging 11 and 11 with 2.5 blocks do not grow on trees.

This is a good chance to get the big man we’ve been missing for years. It’s unfortunate that the market dictates such a high price but it is what it is. You either want to compete or you don’t and without a solid big you won’t.

Plus Jordan has room to refine his skills as he's only 23

Warriors fans will no doubt love Jordan

because he dunks the ball a lot

only problem is he doesn’t do much else

    + Chuck Hayes

    and let’s go to camp.

We get strong defensive help at both the SF and C positions for about $5M less the cost of one Tyson Chandler, and if we work it correctly, we might be able to hang on to our amnesty card.
