I don't quite understand what this trade actually does for us? Why would we trade for him and then buy him out? What is the benefit of that? We will immediately have 2 less players on our roster. Is ownership basically saying we're going to dump salary now, as opposed to two months from now and we would rather have D leaguer's on our roster than Troy Murphy? Financially, is there a benefit to buying him out now as opposed to allowing his contract to end in April? The way I take this is..... Playing Troy Murphy would actually "hurt" our team, so we'd rather pay you your money, get nothing out of you, than see if you could help us on the floor. Seems like an odd move. B. Wright and Gadz could help (a bit). I guess this is all about acquiring a 2nd round pick? Anyways, does anyone have a firm grasp on all of the moving parts to this deal?
