Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

The link goes to list of NBA free agents this summer. Who do you guys think we should target the most? We won't have enough money to likely get a Perkins type of guy or Chandler but there are some other good options. I think we should try and get JRich back for a decent price and maybe make a role player like Chuck Hayes an offer. I think a sleeper guy could be Michael Redd, if he gets healthy again he could be a great 6th man for us and he'd come cheap cause of his injuries . Who do you guys want us to realistically target?

it’s too early for this, prior to the trade deadline which could change how much cap we have, what the new CBA will be, what our team will need, who will opt out, etc.

But, i’d like some of these guys more than the others; JR Smith, Tyshon Prince, Shannon Brown, Wilson Chandler, Jeff Green, Grant Hill, Nene, Chandler, Gasol, Oden, Jordan, Perkins, Yao.

Agreed

Like Perkins too… but we need to clear up more cap space.

Package Reggie (desireable) with Bell (not desireable) around… maybe for possibly Vujacic and his $5 mil expiring contract or part of J-Rich trade adding (Radmanovich and/or Lou). Both trades work in the favor of the team, according to trade machine (so no homer bias)

11-12 million much more likely to attract one of the guys we need then 7 million

Perkins, Young or JR Swish

Beef up the frontline and pick up another off the bench scoring threat

Kendrick Perkins would be my top target. If he can’t be had I’d be ok with a gamble on Yao as long as it wasnt a long term offer. I’m not totally sure how he fits here, but I like W.Chandler a lot too. I don’t think we have any chance at T.Chandler, or Oden and I want no part of Jeff Green.

oden.

he’’s so good when he’s healthy. a healthy greg oden would do miles for this team.

that being said, he’s never healthy. but he’s a fighter, and i have a lot of respect for that.

David West anyone?

Zach Randolph & JR Smith please...

I would also take a gamble on Oden if such scenario exist.

randolph is farrrrrr

to expensive

And farrrrrrrrrrrr too not good. Isn’t one no-defense, can’t protect the rim big enough? At least ours plays efficient offense…

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2011 11:11 AM PST up reply actions

Theres is a dominant force on my fantasy team though

And give him credit for rebounding very well. 13 per 36? and been putting up over 14 a game last 2 months (albiet in 37 minutes a game)

by tafkasam on Feb 7, 2011 11:19 AM PST up reply actions

id disagree

yes his defense is nonexistant, but someone who averages a high double double a game is not terrible. and his field goal percentage is almost 50 percent, so its not like he’s missing a huge amount of the shots he takes.

he’s just got a bad attitude

i swear to god any player up here not named james, wade, howard, or paul, is always trashed on way or another.

randolph is good offensively, real good

It's lonely being the only Warriors fan at UMass :(

by j-spliff415 on Feb 8, 2011 5:23 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, we trash players whose reputation is based on scoring, but don’t actually score efficiently. Why? It’s because they’re vastly overrated. Don’t care about FG%, look at TS%. Randolph’s is unimpressive. The only positive thing Randolph does is rebound. He’s not good at anything else. Shooting a lot doesn’t change that. And yes, he does miss too often.

by Missing Barry on Feb 9, 2011 7:10 AM PST up reply actions

The average NBA player scores more points every time they shoot than Randolph does. If you replaced every one of Randolph’s shots with a shot by an average NBA player, the team would actually score more points than they do.

by Missing Barry on Feb 9, 2011 7:11 AM PST up reply actions

Oh man I would love to have Z. Randolph on the team

but he’s probably going to get a really big contract from someone.
And isn’t JR Smith just another undersized guard that we don’t need?

by Throw up the Dub on Feb 7, 2011 10:34 AM PST via mobile reply actions

JR Smith is actually a very properly sized wing…

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2011 11:12 AM PST up reply actions

So no one thinks if Redd got healthy he wouldn't be a good 6th man?

If he’s healthy I’d want him

There are some good swingman options

Which we should pursue for a 6th man (Shannon Brown for ex. could play next to monta or curry)

Of course there’s also the option if we were able to move Monta for a proper big man, being able to find a sign a good SG like JRich or Afflalo

Problem is, I don’t think we can get Horford or Noah for Monta. Heck I don’t even think we can get LMA or anything. So whats the point to discuss it?

by tafkasam on Feb 7, 2011 11:01 AM PST reply actions

We need scorers off the bench

Players who have been injured and are hungry to prove themselves. I’d sign Michael Redd and Josh Howard for cheap. I’d also go after Perkins and TChandler. If Yao Ming wants to sign for cheap also, thats fine by me. IMO Perk will go to a contender and Chandler will go to Miami. For a backup PG, Telfair might be an alright choice. A bench with Telfair/Redd/Howard/Udoh/Yao is pretty nice to me.

Andris Biedrins | Yao Ming
David Lee | Ekpe Udoh
Dorell Wright | Josh Howard
Monta Ellis | Michael Redd
Stephen Curry | Sebastian Telfair

We need to pick up effecient scorers with defensive skills. My rankings

 Kendrick Perkins
 Arron Afflalo
 Nene
Andrei Kirilenko
Shannon Brown
Carl Landry
Ronny Turiaf
Nick Young

It would be nice to get one or two of the wing players and 1 of the PF C types.

It's all about the killer cross-over baby!

by warriorsfiend on Feb 7, 2011 1:24 PM PST reply actions

I like Kirilenko as backup SF. We do need another big to help out Beans

Perkins or Nene is nice, but might require too much to give up. Kaman if it is cheap is good. Or, draft a big next year.

by ILoveWarriorsGirls on Feb 7, 2011 1:43 PM PST up reply actions

Nick Young is JR Smith 2.0

For good and bad and Nene wants to go to Miami or Dallas. I’m done with Ronny. And Landry…. Ew

My list:

1. Afflalo
2. Perkins
3. Brown
4. JRich
5. Both Chandlers
6. Chuck Hayes

JRICH is coming back to the Bay, guaranteed. The story is too good for Guber to pass up. Chuck Hayes is a guy we could probably get, and he would be a major upgrade in the rebounding department.

is nick young “an effecient scorer with defensive skills”?

by Balance on Feb 7, 2011 3:12 PM PST up reply actions

He actually does seem to resemble JR Smith as a scorer. Problem with Nick Young is he doesn’t do anything else but shoot. Doesn’t rebound, doesn’t pass, doesn’t play defense.

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2011 3:56 PM PST up reply actions

JR Smith would drive you crazy sometimes….

by DubsFan408 on Feb 7, 2011 3:26 PM PST reply actions

Caron Butler / Kendrick Perkins

no more scoring, we need defense like a stripper needs glass heals and a pole

With $17 million in expiring contracts, how is anyone unobtainable vie free agency? Perkins and Chandler are not going to command $17million/year.

We’ll have 7 mil in the summer

We’re over the salary cap. We only can spend however much we’re under the cap in the offseason. Since we’re starting from over, it’s less than the $17M.

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2011 9:05 PM PST up reply actions

And, of course, who knows what the cap is actually going to be.

That $7m could actually be more than it looks, for example if there’s no mid-level exemption in the new CBA.

Or it could be less, if the cap comes down.
