The Knicks have waived him to open up a roster spot. Should we try to sign him for next year? Strengthening our bench is the surest way to boost wins next year, so I say YES!
The downside is the risk associated with signing a player coming off a serious injury such as his, the question of whether his style of play would work with the direction the team is heading, and whether we can do better in improving our bench. I think we lack the sort of slashing 3 he could provide. Admittedly, I'm not sure of his defensive capabilities.
The New York Knicks have waived guard Kelenna Azubuike, who never played for the team while recovering from major knee surgery.
Azubuike was acquired from Golden State on July 9 in the sign-and-trade deal that sent David Lee to the Warriors. He was expected to be ready early in the season after missing the last 73 games in 2009-10, but never got into a game despite saying recently he believed he was close.
